Sketch at Seize the Birthday

DSC_0025

Screen Shot 2015-10-23 at 8.25.51 PMHello Friends,  It’s time again for a new topping over at Seize the Birthday and this time around we have a sketch for you to try, but remember if you don’t want to use the topping you don’t have to, just make sure your card and or project is birthday related.  I also want to take a minute to thank Tanja for being such a super Surprise Party Guest! We love your work Tanja and it’s been a pleasure having you with us!  Now my card was a lot of fun to put together.  I started off using the smooshing technique with my acrylic blocks on watercolor paper. I think I got a little carried away and smooshed a little much, but I still received some cool results!  I used some left over pieces for my flowers.  The flowers were also heat embossed with white embossing powder.  The rectangle and circle dies, the vellum leaves, and the heart border die reallyhelped this card come together.  If you have any other questions…let me know!

Hope you will take a minute and come see what my fabulous team did this week at Seize the Birthday!  Take care and find sometime to create…it’s good for the soul!  Nanc’

You Mean the World to Me…

DSC_0275

STB Anything GoesHello Friends, Happy New Year’s Eve!   It is hard to believe that 2015 has come and gone!  Did you have a nice Christmas? I sure did!  Do you have any Crafting Goals or New Year’s resolutions for the upcoming year?  If so, I would love to hear about them! I have a few.  My personal goal is the ever so popular one, you know…to get in shape. Shocker I know!  We shall see how long that lasts…lol.  My crafting Goals, that I am a little bit more excited about, are to get back to my crafting roots and start scrapbooking again, and to become more comfortable and adventurous when it comes to crafting in general.  I tend to play it safe and not go outside the box.  My generous son gave me a Silhouette Cameo for Christmas ( I know….I was delighted too) and my goal is to do other things, with this fascinating tool, besides cutting out cardstock.  That might sound like an attainable goal to you, but you don’t know me all that well…LOL.  Wish Me luck!

Now some card info:  My son turned 23 on the 22nd of this month and this is the card I gave him.  The background is a SU Brick EF, the Sentiments are from Verve, the SON was cut out with Sizzix Alpha dies, and the stars are from MFT.  The D- paper is also SU.

Please won’t you join us over at Seize the Birthday (it’s Anything Goes this time) and get a jump start on this year’s Birthday cards!  The Design Team and our Surprise Party Guest Tanja has done a wonderful job!  Hope to see you in the gallery!

Happy New Year to you and yours!  Nanc’

Birthday Wishes

DSC_0062

STB ToppingsHello Friends,  To say that this week has been long would be an understatement!  I can barely keep up at work and at home as well! I am over the hump so I can do this!  Since it is in-fact Thursday, it’s time for a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  Our topping option we have for you this time around is to use Vellum or Acetate somewhere on your card and or project.  Since I have had such a tough week and so much to get done I decided to CASE myself instead of re-inventing the wheel. I have made a card very similar to this one in the past that was orange and black. All the stamps are from Stampin UP except the sentiment which is from Hero Arts. I thought the added little double ruffle at the top worked perfectly to hide the adhesive that I used for the vellum banner.

Here is a photo of the original card I made!

Hope to see you in the gallery at STB!  Nanc’

Stripes

DSC_0171 (1)

Screen Shot 2015-10-08 at 8.07.43 PMHello Friends,  As you probably figured out from my title and photo of my card the Word of the Week over at Just Us Girls is Stripes!  Easy Peasy right?  When I saw what Sue my fellow DT member had chosen, I thought it was a fabulous idea.  Now I am going to be honest and say that this card was inspired by my SU consultant Debbie, whom I love dearly.  We made a card very similar to this card in a stamp a stack a few months ago and I loved the colors and over all design of it so much that I decided to recreate some more. So this is one of about 5 that I have made and they are all gone already! October was a busy Birthday month! This card is perfect for mass producing!

So all products on my card minus the sequins and twine is Stampin UP.

Before I go I need to welcome our Guest Designer for the month of November who is with us over at JUGS and her name is Louise Hodge and she is super talented!  Welcome Louise, we are so very happy to have you!!  So please won’t you come on over to JUGS and check out the rest of the team’s cards and our Guesties too. You won’t be disappointed I am certain!   Happy creating, Nanc’

Another Anything Goes Birthday

DSC_0012

STB Anything GoesHello Friends,  It’s time for another Seize the Birthday post and this time it’s an Anything Goes Birthday celebration!  Over at STB we decided to keep Anita from France on with us for another month (Yipee), so we are going to be extending our Surprise Party Guest from an original one month guest designer spot to a two month, one month was just way to short!  So, thanks for graciously agreeing to stick around with us for another month Anita!

Going to make this short and sweet as I am still under the weather, so if you have any questions about my card….please don’t hesitate to ask. I am still using leftovers from my studio table and it’s working out quite nicely! Take care and bear with me till I start feeling like myself again!  Nanc’

Pocket Card at STB!

DSC_0134

STB ToppingsHello Friends,  It’s time again for a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday and our topping this time around is to make a pocket card.  I took the challenge quite literally as you will see in the photo. LOL  I have had this denim paper by Creative Memories for so long and knew it would be perfect for this card.  I saw a card like this over on Pinterest so very long ago and thought it was oh so very clever! Here is a photo of the card that inspired me, however the link to the card didn’t actual work.  Although, her name and website is on the photo.  I like to give credit to the people and their projects that inspire me.  I also wish to say thanks to Anita in France for being with us as our Special Birthday Guest over at STB…we sure are enjoying having you with us!

Card Details: The flower stamps are from Stampin Up and the sentiment is from Verve. I used a tag punch which is also Stampin Up and the leaves are a MS punch. Some pop dots to make the actual pocket and some ribbon and bling to finish it off.

Have a wonderful day and please come by and check out what my fabulous teammates did with the pocket challenge at Seize the Birthday!

Splatter

DSC_0106

STB ToppingsHello Friends,  Today over at Seize the Birthday our topping option is Splatter.  I absolutely love adding a bit or a lot (as above) of splatter on my cards.  Who would have thought something so simple and fun could add so much interest!   I am also happy to announce a new feature that we are starting over at Seize the Birthday!  Every month we are going to be asking a Surprise Party Guest to be joining us.  Our first Inaugural Surprise Party Guest is going to be Anita in France. SurprisePartyGuest GraphicI have her blog linked up for you HERE!!  Welcome Anita! I am so thrilled to have you with us this month!  Please won’t you stop by STB and Anita’s blog and have a look around and leave her some love along the way!

Now here are a few details about my card:  My talented hubby made me a Superman stencil that all I had to do is trace and cut out with an xacto knife.  The Happy Birthday is from Verve’s Poppy Birthday set.  The other sentiment was computer generator.  This card was made for a very dear friend of mine that has been battling cancer for two years.  Battle is a huge understatement!  He will never kick the cancer unfortunately and will be on chemo the rest of his life, but he isn’t going down without a fight that is for sure.  He is truly a Superhero in my book and one of the most generous and sweetest persons in the world.  He turned 60 on Saturday and hubby and I and some of his closest friends surprised him with a dinner party.  I pray this card made him feel loved!   Thanks for stopping by, I really do appreciate it!  Nanc’

Border Punches and or Dies!

DSC_0080

1175095_10151587494757547_730720239_nHello my Crafty Friends,  It’s time for a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday and or topping this time around is to add Border punches and or Die Cuts to your card and or project.  Today’s card was a request I had from a co-worker, so that is why it is personalized.  My starting point for the card came from this great sketch# 3 over at Viva la Verve.  I can always count on Verve to give me a boost!

vlvFew card Details: Sizzix Daisy Dies, Stampin UP leaves die, Martha Stewart Border punch, Alphabet letter stamps, Sentiment is something I picked up who knows where, Glossy Accents for the center of my daisies, Fishers cutter for the victorian edge, paper- this and that.

Hope you find sometime in this busy thing we call life and explore your creativity and join us over at Seize the Birthday!  Take care, Nancy

Balloons @ Just Us Girls!

DSC_0035

Screen Shot 2015-08-13 at 10.46.28 PMHello Friends!  It’s Trend week over at Just Us Girls and it seems that balloons of any kind never go out of style in the card making world, so that is our trend for the week.  I also am linking my card up to this week’s Freshly Made Sketch which was the source of my starting point.  You should have seen all my different attempts to a card till I finally settled on this one.  It reminded of those days when you are getting dressed for work in the morning and every outfit looks terrible and you just keep changing your mind till you have a pile on the bed in front of you.   Well, that is what happened with this card…LOL  It had many do overs!   I still have a lot to learn when it comes to coloring, but I think the card came out kinda cute, plus it’s quite different than my usual style.

FMS Final 203-001

Card Info: The balloon was made from a hand drawn template. The ladybug stamp is something I picked up who knows where and who knows how long ago, probably 10+ years. The happy birthday banner is Stampin Up.  The you is a script from Verve and the TO was made with those small alphabet stamps that always come in handy!

I sure appreciate all your sweet comments and visits lately…you sure know how to make a girl feel good!

Have a wonderful day and please won’t you come on over to Just Us Girls this week and join us?  Nanc’

Celebrate @ Seize the Birthday!

DSC_0028

STB Anything GoesHello there friends,  It’s time for a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  This time around it’s Anything Goes with no topping!  Just remember to keep it a birthday theme!  My card was inspired this week by this great sketch over at Mojo Monday!  I kept the card pretty simple and straight forward as the sketch implies! The stamps are all from Verve and the paper is from Monte Paper Mill and the pack is called Hello Darling.   I got the paper pack a few weeks back at a NEW local stamping store that just opened up less than 5 minutes from my house!  So excited about that!  She is a super sweet lady and a retired teacher and I wish her much success! I can’t wait to start taking some classes up there!

zzMojo414I hope you have a wonderful day and would love to have you join us at Seize the Birthday, hope to see you in our gallery!  Nanc’
