Make your own light box

If you are looking for CAS on Sunday please scroll down!

I have been wanting to make my very own light box for quite sometime

and today seemed like as good a time as any.

So yesterday afternoon I let my fingers do the walking

on the computer and found a

vast amounts of do it yourself light boxes.

This is the one I decided to use!

Here are a couple photos of hubby helping me make mine.

Cardboard box,Poster board,Tissue, and tape

Tools: T-square, exacto knife, scissors

I didn’t have any NEW tissue paper so we made do.  Hubby is trying to make it as tight as possible without ripping it.

Here is a side view of the tissue taped.

Here is the final product.  It’s not the prettiest thing in the world,

but hey, I am the only one that will have to look at it!

Inside they suggest you take a piece of poster board and lay it carefully…almost

like a slide, so that there are no creases in the photo.  I do have it taped on the top of the box

so that it doesn’t slide down.

Here it is ready to go in my son’s bedroom!

I think I need a light on top! 😦

If you have any questions at all let me know!

I sure hope this improves my photos!!!

I still need to get special light bulbs.

Here are the first two photos I took today to see how they would look.

Considering I still need to figure out; placement of the

lights, whether the card needs to be near the front or farther back,

the right light bulbs, and camera settings…!

I think they look ten times better!

If you scroll down to the previous post you can compare….a before and after.

What do you think?

  1. WTG! I am completely impressed. I did compare photos [this to last post] just need a bright edit on the new and gf YOU GOT IT ROCKING! Good for you and [DH too! :)] Where did you get your lights??? 🙂

  2. Awesome idea. I, myself have a big shoe (boot) box that I used which is white all around inside. It seems to take much better photos and I don’t add other lights other than the flourescent one in the room but I angle it so it catches the light when I take the photo. But this is a great idea as well.

  3. This is fantastic!!! Thank you so much!!! Can’t wait to make my own 🙂 ~Sophia

  4. thank you for sharing this! i’m going to try to make my own. if i can’t get a daylight photo my cards look yellowish which isn’t always flattering :S
