Just Us Girls Photo Week!

DSC_0220

I had to darken the photos so you could see the ribbon.

Hopefully these ornaments mimic the lights in the photo and or the look I was going for was a Baby mobile.

Screen Shot 2014-11-11 at 4.30.44 PMHello Everyone,  I have the honor of hosting the Last Challenge of 2014 over at Just Us Girls! Can you believe that we are approaching the end of another year? Where does the time go!  It’s unbelievable isn’t it? I hope you had a wonderful Christmas…I sure did!  It went by way to fast though, but I got some really nice gifts this year from my family and am truly blessed!  Then Christmas night my father fell while walking his dog and thankfully I think he is going to be okay. He is so lucky!  He refused to go to the Hospital and be checked out when the ambulance arrived.  He has one terrible goose egg on his head.  (I do realize a head injury is nothing to mess with, however you don’t know my father) He doesn’t have a concussion and seems to be just as alert and attuned with us as before. My family and I took shifts and were waking him every two hours Christmas night. Prayers welcomed!

Since we have been in Christmas card mode for so long I thought it would be fun to lighten things up with a fun photo this week! I can’t wait to see what inspiration you take from this cute photo!  Will you be drawn to a baby theme like my fellow DT member Vicki and I were or something totally different like the rest of the Design team did?  The ladies did an amazing job!  I would also like to say thanks and Farewell to our Guest Designer Lee Ann Barrett!  We so enjoyed having you with us Lee Ann! Please keep in touch and play along again with us when you can …you are very talented!

Here are a few but not all card details: I used the Verve Christmas Stamp Set Have a Holly Jolly Christmas to create my heat embossed mobile ( from the photo) I hope they don’t look entirely like ornaments. The cute little elephant is also Verve and his name is Emery.  The sentiment banners are also Verve and is from the set So Happy.  The Dots embossing folder is Stampin Up and it’s my first time using it!  LOVE it!!  If you have any other Questions at all please ask away!  I have the Verve site linked up for you!  Now please won’t you come on over to Just Us Girls and join us in our Last Challenge of the yea?  Hope to see you there!   Nanc’

Color Week at JUGS!

 DSC_0059

Screen Shot 2014-11-11 at 4.22.28 PM

This week at Just Us Girls it’s Color Week and Ina has picked a gorgeous group of colors for us.  Now mind you, you do not have to use all 5 colors, but you can if you want to.  The minimum is 3, which is what I have done.  I was pushed for time, as I have been lately ( you too I am sure) with Christmas and wrapping up things at school before our break, so I recreated one of my cards from long ago.  The stamps are from Gina K.  This is actually going to be a Birthday card and I am sending this to a co-worker.  I hope you come on over to Just Us Girls and join us!  If your chosen as our Chic of the Week you will be in the running for a chance as a future Guest Designer.  See you over at JUGS!  Nancy

Silver and Gold

DSC_0056

STB ToppingsSilver and Gold…..Now I will have you singing that all day! LOL  Silver and Gold is our Topping option this time at Seize the Birthday.  What a fun and striking combo…don’t you think?  I made this card with a new Verve stamp set that I received from a dear friend (Thank you JoAnn) and being that it was a Christmas stamp set I had to pair it up with a birthday sentiment that I have had for years.  I heat embossed the poinsettias in gold and silver. The silver dots are SU paper and are made with a SU owl punch.  I use that punch for so much! The ribbon is from Verve. If you have never used Verve ribbon it’s a must!  Please come by and join us we would love to see what you can do with silver and gold!

Keeping it short…have tons to do as I am sure you do as well.

Until next time…take care!  Nanc’

Trend Week @ JUGS!

DSC_0044Screen Shot 2014-11-11 at 4.05.27 PMIt’s Trend week at Just Us Girls and have we got great one for you!  Mixed media!  Now don’t be scared it really can be as easy or complicated as you want to make it.  Check out the graphic for some explanations and requirements.  It’s really late and this post goes live in a few minutes so I am going to explain my card rather quickly!  First, I took my watercolor SU pen and 3 colors and randomly colored my watercolored paper.  Then I took my Script stamp and some Brown Gina K ink and stamped on my watercolored paper. Next, I took my glossy SU cardstock and Verve heart stamp and stamped and heat embossed my hearts with clear embossing powder.  Then took the same 3 colors of SU ink and colored over the hearts and then wiped the cardstock so the hearts would appear.  I assembled my card and added a few (Verve) small heart stamps and the arrow and I Love You (from Recollections). Wasn’t happy with the look I was trying to achieve so I decided to give the card a white wash with some Gesso.  Then I took my Gina K Brown ink and inked up some of the edges and front of the card as well.  I got carried away with the brown and came back with my original 3 colors and my watercolored brush and lightened it up in a few places.   Well,  that was probably more info then you even cared to read, but since it was Mixed Media challenge I thought an explanation was in order so you can see all the steps I actually did to achieve this look.  I so enjoyed the process!

I would also like to welcome Lee Ann Barrett as our Guest Designer this week at Just Us Girls.  Please come on over an join us and see what the talented team did with this challenge.  Who knows if you win our Chic of the Week you may also be chosen as a Guest designer with us in the future!

Have a great weekend and see you at JUGS!  Nanc’

Silent Night Neutrals

DSC_0029

I think my style this time around is Clean and Layered!

Hi Friends, This is my last post as a Guest Designer over at The Card Concept and let me just say I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Lesley and her fabulous and talented team.  They have been super sweet to me!  I sure hope I didn’t disappoint them with my cards…the talent over there is unreal!!  Thanks again ladies!!   The challenge this time around is to use nothing but neutrals on your card and or project and we have an awesome inspiration photo as well.  Since I am still in the Christmas card mode and the Photo inspiration had star cookies on the plate, that is where my creativity lured me.   I started off making my background with some embossing paste…boy I love that stuff.  The templates for the stars and sentiment is all from Stampin Up and the brown star strip was made with a lunch bag.  In case you can’t tell the sentiment is heat embossed and stamped on vellum.  The rest of the card was made with scraps of this and that. Boy do I need to use up my scraps..they are taking over my craft space. It may be time to throw some out,  I just hate waste!

Now, Please head on over to The Card Concept and check out the rest of the teams work…you won’t be disappointed and after you have done that….. Please Join Us!

See you over there,

Nanc’

Not a card!!

DSC_0013

Screen Shot 2014-11-11 at 3.39.53 PM

Can you believe I actually have something to share with you that is NOT a card?  I know, you are as dumbfounded as I was.  I have for you a fry box that you could use for just about anything and a gift card holder.  However, I cannot take credit for these ideas, that came from my fabulous Stampin Up Consultant- Debbie!  I just love her!!! I made this at my monthly card club and I knew it would be perfect for Sue’s Word week over at Just Us Girls…so I have been saving it!  Our word this week is SPARKLE!  As you can see I have some sparkle going on in various places.   The cuffs on Santa’s mittens, and his shiny belt buckles.  Now in hind-sight, I wish would have added some sparkle to his beard on the Gift card Holder.  I think this fry box die from Stampin up is so cool!  Don’t you? If you have never purchased the silver sparkly paper from SU it’s a must have!  It comes in red too….and maybe gold…I can’t remember.  Anyways,  I hope you decide to join us over at Just Us Girls and see what you can do with the word Sparkle.  If your chosen as chic of the week, you will be in the running as a possible future guest designer with us.  It’s late Friday night and I am beat…so that’s it for me! If you have any additional questions, please let me know!  Hope you a wonderful day…I so appreciate you stopping by!  Nanc’

February Birthday!

DSC_0363

Linky badgeOver at Seize the Birthday this week we have an Anything Goes Birthday challenge.  So I decided to take a small break from my Holiday cards and get a jump start on some of my February cards that I will be needing!  I have an oldie but goodie SU tree stamp I decided to use along with a Sentiment from Verve. The tiny hearts were made with my SU owl punch.  The heart banner on the bottom is also from Verve. I bet I have had that piece of DP for at least 15 years. LOL

I kept it simple this week as I was short on time because putting the tree up took top priority…I love my Christmas tree.

Hope you come on over to Seize the Birthday and see what my awesome teammates did this time around!

Take care,

Nanc’
