Hoppy Easter

DSC_0195

Hello friends,  Last weekend I had a crafting get together at my house with 9 of my Stampin friends.  We marbelized are own paper, made 3 different type of Easter cards, and enjoyed lunch together as well.  It was a great success and I can’t wait to host another get together again soon. Crafting people are truly the nicest peeps…aren’t we? Here are a few photos of my event.  My photos didn’t come out as good as I would have liked, I turned my camera onto auto but forgot to turn my lense off manual. 😦  I always take my photos of my cards on manual so I NEVER remember to do this.   You think I would learn by now, as I have had the new camera for quite sometime.  Grrrrrrrr! Anyho0, here they are!

PicMonkey CollageMy hubby is the one that taught me how to marbleize.  Basically it’s taking ink and or paint and mixing it with oxen gall bladder ( yep you read this right) which causes it to float on top of a pan of carrigean, which is a seaweed type liquid that is made in a blender with distilled water.  You then take a hair pick or stir stick and gently swirl it around till you get the effect you wanted. Then lay the paper in and gently remove right away, scrapping along the edge of the pan in hopes to get most of the liquid off. The ink and or paint sticks right to the cardstock. Alloy to dry. Being an art teacher and all, he always has such amazing ideas to do with the kids. It works well with ceramic too!  Here is a photo of a ceramic egg we marbelized years ago.  This was tricky to say the least.

The card at the top of this post is the card I made as my example for my party. Later this week I will show you the other two cards we made as well!

For the card Details I thought I would just attach the card directions I had at the work stations.

Basket Card

  • Distress all edges of the 12 crumb cake strips
  • Lay 6 of them out and tape the edges together on one side to make it easier to weave
  • Glue down edges as you weave
  • When finished adhere weaving to basket template and trim edges
  • Add more distressing at this time
  • Mold the basket with your hands so that it will adhere to card base and puff in the center
  • Tie your choice of hemp or string around the basket
  •  Adhere basket edges to the card so that it puffs out in the middle a littte bit
  • Glue in 3 out of the 4 grass pieces in various places inside basket
  • Cut out your eggs with marbelized paper and die cuts when dry
  • Arrange eggs in grass, some with pop dots and some without.
  • Take last piece of grass and cut it apart and tuck it in between the eggs as desired
  • Stamp sentiment on white cardstock and then cut out regular circle and scalloped circle from marbelized paper using dies and adhere using pop dots if desired.
  • punch out butterfuly on marbelized paper and adhere to card and draw in antennas

Here are a few of my friends cards.

Anything Goes at STB!

DSC_0081

Hello all of my stamping friends,  Today’s card was put together by me, however the layout and design of the card was done by my Stampin UP demonstrator Debbie Moczek.  At my SU club she always comes up with the best ideas.   I sure hope you don’t think I am cheating when I do this, it’s just some weeks life gets so busy I run out of time to be creative and I don’t want to miss my challenges.  However, if it helps a smidgen, I did change it up a tad and added the sentiment to make it a Birthday card.  Over at Seize the Birthday this time around we have NO topping which means it’s Anything Goes. We like to do these type of challenges about once a month.  Now for details on my card.  All of the supplies are from Stampin UP, except for the stitched panel behind my sentiment. So if you have any individual questions, please just let me know.  I am in love with the gold dotted SU paper…so fun!  I just ordered some!

Hope to see you over at STB!

Color Week at JUGS!

DSC_0130

Screen Shot 2015-02-13 at 7.49.07 PMHello Friends,  I am the hostess this week over at Just Us Girls and it just so happens to be Color Week.  The colors I have chosen are Black, White and the third color is your choice.  Seems easy enough…right?  The most difficult part I had was getting this card to photograph well.  Still not 100% happy with it but it will do.  Here are a few details.  The flower is from Stampin UP and I put glitter on the edges.  The floral is from MFT and made with pink vellum and the buttons are also MFT.  One of my banners is made from a paper doily and the black and white stripe one is washi tape.  Sentiment is SU.

I sure hope you come on over to JUGS and see what the Design Team along with our Guest Designer, Jen Mitchell have made this week.  I can’t wait to see what color you choose!  Remember, if you win Chic of the Week in any of our March challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of May.

Have a wonderful day!

With Heartfelt Sympathy

DSC_0115

Screen Shot 2015-02-13 at 7.34.35 PMHappy Weekend,  Today over at Just Us Girls  Sue has picked the perfect trend challenge for us…the Splatter Technique.  I love this technique right now and it seems to be rather popular too.  Here I am using my MFT Stitched rectangles again, along with some of my Ranger delusions ink spray Funky Fuscia.  I then took some of my SU Midnight Muse ink that was watered down and a paintbrush and added some speckles on top with a flicking motion. I paper pieced the vase, flowers and leaves, and then used some Crystal Effects to make the flowers shimmer and popped two up with pop dots.  I also colored the squiggly line of the vase and punched out the dots with paper and carefully placed them in the exact location of the stamped image to make them pop.  I also covered the squiggle with Crystal Effects.  The stamp sets are both from Gina K – Hugs and Prayers (retired), and Flowers Bloom.

Where did my color inspiration come from?  It came from this great photo below over at TIME OUT Challenges where they are celebrating their 1st Anniversary! I shied away from the green on my card and was drawn to the pinks and blues.

Please come by Just Us Girls this week and show us your splatter…either a little or a lot…the choice is yours!  While your there you can check out what the DT did along with our fabulous GD Jen Mitchell.

See you there,  Nanc’

HAPPY…birthday!

DSC_0119

HI Friends!  It’s Thursday and it’s time for our new challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  The topping option is to make the sentiment the focal point of your card.  I am not sure I did just that, but that was my intention!  I just had to add the cute little cupcake in the corner…LOL. Our topping is always an option over at STB and as long as I make a birthday project I am still in the clear!!  My colors were inspired by the ones you will find over at The Paper Players. The cute little cupcake and the birthday sentiment is from Verve, the heart border is a MS punch, and the happy die cut is SU. I used my victorian blade on my Fiskars cutter for my decorative edges.

Hope to see you over at STB! Nanc’

MIUM @ Stamp TV.

DSC_0104

Hello Friends,  One of my good blogging/ stamping friends Donna is hosting a challenge over at Stamp TV and I wanted to make sure I joined her, so over the past two days when I had the chance, I went into my studio to attempt to create something for her ” Beach Worthy” challenge.  I also have been wanting to try my hand again at making a sunset card with the success of the UBER talented Theresa Momber and here are the two links that inspired me. Here and Here.  I will also share with you a photo of my 4 reject attempts….LOL.  I refused to throw in the towel!!  I am so glad I didn’t!  I didn’t have any shell stamps so I made my own with paper.  I hope that you knew those were sea creatures before I mentioned it.  If you didn’t please…lie and say you did. LOL The sentiment and leaves are from two different Gina K. stamp sets, the Flowers Bloom and the Fleur Di Lis.  I took a prisma colored pencil to do the reflection in the water and took my white gel pen to make some subtle white caps. I am absolutely in love with my new rectangle stitched dies from MFT and I am just going to apologize right now, because they are going to continue to be very prevalent in my cards, that is…. till I get a different set of stitched dies. LOL  I hope you know how much I enjoy your comments when you stop by, I really really do!

Here are my early stage rejects!

Masculine Birthday

DSC_0088

Screen Shot 2015-02-13 at 7.23.11 PMJust popping in today with our latest challenge over at Just Us Girls.  It’s word week this time and the word Ina has for you is Masculine.  Not the easiest card for me to make so I went rather simple and more of a uni-sex card if you ask me.  I made the letters with my SU letter die cuts and the sentiment is something I picked up at Michaels, I do believe.  The dots is a SU embossing folder.  The rest is self explanatory.  Hope you come on over to JUGS and Join Us and while your there, please help us welcome our New Guest Designer for the month of March… Jen Mitchell!  We are so glad she is with us this month!  WELCOME JEN!

Remember if you win our Chic of the Week you can be in the running for a possible guest designer spot in the future!!

See you over at JUGS!  Nanc’

You are Amazingly Amazing!

DSC_0374Hello Friends,  Today’s card is to entice us and get us all excited for Spring!  However,  I think Spring here in Florida is coming more quickly then in the rest of the country and I am thankful for that.  Sorry northern friends and family. I made this card for Two challenges:  The Mod Squad and The Paper Players, where Spring is the theme.  I can’t take complete credit for this card that would go to Vicki Beck a SU demonstrator, however I did alter it a bit from the original layout.  My butterfly ripped almost in half as I was removing it form the die, but I refused to scrap it and was determined to make it work…hence only half of the butterfly is in front.  What do you think?  Does it look stupid? Hubby wasn’t a fan!  I gave this card to my neighbor who is truly AMAZINGLY AMAZING!  She suffers terribly from MS, it was her Birthday yesterday, and her father is dying.  Through it all she still has the best attitude.  I wish I could be more like her as she is truly an inspiration to me.  All of the products used on this card are from SU.

Thanks for stopping in to check on me and have a wonderful day! Nanc’ ModSquadLogo
