Now you might be wondering how my card fits into our “Word Week” Congratulations! Well about a month ago my son Graduated again with a Masters in Design Management from Savannah College of Art and Design and I made the above card for him. If you do not have small children at home, or if you are not a kid yourself, you may not know who this character is. His name is Toothless and he is from the movie and book, How To Train Your Dragon. If you have not seen it, you need to, it is absolutely one of my families favorites. My son is a HUGE fan of this movie and I nearly squealed when I came across this card on Pinterst months before! NO I CAN NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THIS DESIGN! You will find that HERE! Her name is Jill Prescott! Thanks so much JILL!!! I so appreciate you helping me make this moment so special for my family! I knew right away when Tyler saw this card that he would love it and that it would bring him to tears. The pics are a little fuzzy, but I think they say it all! If you look very closely at the photo of the card….I sponged clouds in the background and also did all the edges of his body pieces with grey ink to help them stand out and give it some dimension.
Here is what I put on the inside of the card, and again if you saw the movie it will make a little bit more sense.
We also bought him a T-shirt of the character toothless as well. (Sadly -No Pic)
Now here are a few graduation photos too! I apologize for those of you who have seen these on Facebook. The beautiful girl is Ty’s girlfriend Sandra.
Now, back to my card!
Here are the supplies I used to make my card, along with a photo of the pieces before it was assembled.
I had to improvise, as I didn’t have all of the same tools that the original designer (JILL) used.
My hubby had to get in on the action and he sculpted out of clay the Savannah College of Art and Design Mascot, which just so happens to be a ferocious BEE! Yes, I said Bee! LOL
I asked him why the bee was making such a stank face and he said that it’s exactly like the logo, and sure enough he was right! Pretty good huh?
Okay, well if you stuck with me this long…I really, really appreciate it! I sometimes wonder how much of this jargon gets read, however I enjoy writing it!! Please come on over to Just Us Girls and help us CELEBRATE our 300th challenge! Who knows you may be lucky enough to be one of our 4 winners! Take care, Nanc’

I’m so far behind on commenting I’ve had to skip over some emails but I just HAD to comment on this one, Nancy. Your card is darling. Not something one would see for an adult child but the fact that it means something to him makes it truly special. There’s nothing like being able to personalize a card for the recipient. Congratulations to Ty on his big accomplishment. Love the bee, BTW. 😉
