Personal Post-Engagement /Happy 60th

Warning this is a LONG post but oh so very important for me to document and look back on in a few years and re-live these moments. Plus if you stick with me to the end of this post I will show you what I made with my Silhouette Cameo!  I was really happy with the results.

To quote my son as we were face timing one evening prior to the proposal,

” You only get to do this once, I need to get it right.”

On my hubby’s 60th Birthday 3-16-16 my son proposed to the woman of his dreams!  Hubby and I were not in Savannah the night of the actual proposal, we were out celebrating his birthday with our very good friends.  I was so very anxious that entire day and especially that evening, and I was checking my watch and my phone quite a bit, waiting for that text.  Let me take a moment and re-cap a bit incase you are wondering why Ty was in Savannah when he lives in Seattle.  Ty flew down to Savannah to spend St Patrick’s day with Sandra and their friends, as she is still at SCAD finishing her Masters Degree. He chose Savannah because they both adore the city and have had so many good times and memories while they were both there together.  So planning this surprise was quite the task as he was doing it from Seattle.

Here is the first photo Dave and I received about an hour or so afterwards.

The proposal was preceded by wine and snacks in Forsyth Park one of the prettiest and well known places in Savannah. Hence the Publix bag that I would LOVE to nix from all of these photos! 😦  I guess a picnic basket didn’t fit in his suitcase.

By the way Ty’s photographer canceled on him thirty minutes prior, but she was nice enough to contact a replacement.  All Ty had to do is figure out who the heck he was and where he was so that he could capture this special moment. LOL

Here are the rest of the photos.  I know there is a lot, but what can I say, he is our only!

If you look very closely at these two photos you can tell that Ty is crying! So sweet!

Ty and Sandra finished up that day with a romantic dinner later that evening.

Now fast forward to Friday night.  Dave and I cut out from work a few hours early to beat the traffic to meet up with this beautiful couple for the weekend in Savannah and to celebrate Dave’s 60th birthday and their big news.  Ty had reserved a Bed and Breakfast for us for two nights as a gift to his father. What a sweetheart!  Traffic had other plans and we didn’t make it to Savannah till nearly ten so we went out that evening for some celebratory drinks. The next morning we met up with Sandra, Ty, and a group of their friends at (Roasters) the Best coffee shop eva to give them their gifts.

Here is what I made with my cameo for the Future Bride and Future Groom.

I adore this next group of photos especially the ones where they realize what the shirts say.  Sandra’s ring is made with glitter HTV and Ty asked where his bling was. LOL

Now before I finish up this post, I want to add some text conversations that Ty and I had after we said our farewells at the airport, that I never want to forget. It was a tougher than usual goodbye as we all realize it’s going to be quite sometime before we see each other again. I want to also add that I know I am the luckiest mom alive because Ty and I have a very unique and special relationship, so keep that in mind when you read these messages and when I say I nearly cried the entire trip home.  I think exhaustion and having such an emotional weekend played a huge part.

I texted Tyler as we were driving home that afternoon that it was the first milestone in his life that I was not there for. He responded, “You were there and have been from the start.” More tears..he ALWAYS does this to me.  I swear he has a book in his back pocket that says text messages to make my mom cry. LOL  Then our next conversation went like this.  I said, ” It’s time for this mom to hand over the reins of being the most important woman in my son’s life. He answered, “That is not how your son was raised. Your son has double the hearts. One woman doesn’t trump the other. The new woman is teaching him everything his mother has done for him. I love you more now than I ever have.”  See, I told you I was the luckiest mom in the world.

Dave and I are so absolutely thrilled that Tyler is so happy and found the love of his life. We too love Sandra very much and can’t wait to have her as our Daughter in Law.

I saw a quote the other day that reminded me so much of Ty and Sandra.

It said, “Every once in a while in the middle of an ordinary life, Love gives us a fairytale.”

It sure did!

Last but certainly not least, onto my Hubby’s 60th Birthday!

I can’t take credit for this card idea, I found it on Pinterest on a shirt.  However if you knew my hubby, you would know it fits him to a tee.

Above is a picture of our very dear friends Jerry and Deanna who came out to celebrate with us!  We laughed all night! We love them both dearly!

Finally, here is a photo of Hubby and I having drinks before dinner.  I can’t believe you are 60 honey, you look amazing…oh to be that lucky!

Screen Shot 2016-02-06 at 12.58.52 PMHello friends,  I am the hostess this week over at Just Us Girls and I just so happen to have picked out a beach photo, so if this card looks similar to my last post it was made the same day.  I had such a good time creating my beach scene with my SU watercolor brush for my Seize the Birthday post that I just couldn’t put it away quite yet. I don’t own any shell stamps or sea creatures, (I know the horror and I live in Florida) and then I remembered a scrapbook page I created eons ago that I used punches on to create my sea creatures.  I got out my scrapbook to locate that page that I was thinking of, and may have gotten sidetracked for awhile and shed a few tears as my baby is not 6 anymore, and recreated my sea creatures.  I know the proportions are a little off, but I think that’s okay.  I again used some white foam to pop up my center shape.  Hope you decide to join me and my fabulous team for our Photo Inspiration at Just Us Girls.  Doesn’t that beach cake look amazing?  Enjoy, Nanc’

Beach Weather and Some New Designers!

DSC_0090

STB ToppingsHello Friends,  Hope you are having a wonderful day! It’s Spring Break for me and it is certainly Beach Weather as my title announced!  Today over at Seize the Birthday we have a perfect “Topping” for this time of year, the topping is “Water.”  The first thing I thought of when it was time to get crafty, was the beach.  So I got out my watercolor brush and my new stamp set from Kitchen Sink Stamps and went to work.   Living in Florida, I knew I would love this set and would be able to get lots of use out of it.  It’s a 3 step stamp set, so I need a bit more practice but am still happy with my first time results. Not only does it have terrific palm trees, it even comes with tiny footprints in 3 different sizes too.  They are so cute! The sentiment is from Verve. I thought it would be fun to cut out the center and pop it up with some foam.  My friend Judy taught me that trick and I am forever grateful! Plus that stuff is cheap too!

Now I have the pleasure of welcoming two new designers to the Seize the Birthday Team and I am super excited about it!  The first designer is Vicki Dutcher, whom I am sure you all have heard of, as she has been stamping for years and years and puts out fabulous cards one right after another. I also have the pleasure of working alongside Vicki on my Just Us Girls team as well.  We do a lot of behind the scenes work together and we make a good pair!  The Second DT member is a good friend of mine Barbara Campbell.  Not only is Barb extremely talented she is my Birthday Sister to boot!  We met over this great world of the “Blogishpere” and have had the pleasure to meet in person twice too!  I appreciate her taking the time to meet me more than she realizes! I am thrilled that both these ladies agreed to join my already fabulous team over at Seize the Birthday!  WELCOME Barb and Vicki!

Before I go I would also like to thank Jacquie Southas for being a wonderful Surprise Party Guest over at STB the past two months!  Thanks for all your wonderful cards Jacquie and hope to see you in the gallery of ours from time to time!

Okay I think that about does it…thanks for sticking with me!  Have an awesome day and PLEASE come on over to STB and join us and leave some love for the new members as well!  Take care, Nanc’

DSC_0084

Screen Shot 2016-02-07 at 10.56.49 AMHello Friends,  Hope you are off to a great weekend!  I sure am!!!! You will have to wait to hear about what I am up to a bit later!  Today over at Just Us Girls it’s time for our Color Week!  With Easter not to far away, Chris came up with the perfect colors for us this week!  The Design team did a fabulous job too!  You will have to trust me and come on over and check it out!  If your chosen as our Chic of the Week you will be in the running as a possible guest designer with us in the near future!  I sure hope to see you in the gallery!

A few card details:  The little chic stamp is something I picked up who knows where, and he had never been inked up before and it was past time.  I also decided to get out my chalks and a Q-tips and color them too. The sentiment is from Stampin Up.  The butterfly and corners are from a punch.  The yellow hills are a die from Lawn Fawn.  Have a great day! Nancy

Shaking it up at JUGS!

DSC_0077

Screen Shot 2016-02-06 at 12.52.06 PMHello Friends,  We are really shaking things up over at Just Us Girls this week.  Not only are we making Shaker cards but we are also adding two new Design team members to our already awesome team.  I am tickled pink about both of them!!  I have been a huge fan of both of these ladies for a long time now and I consider both of them very dear crafting friends. I have never met either of them, but hope to rectify that some day.  I know you all have some of those types of friends too.  Crafty peeps are the best peeps if you ask me! The ladies we are becoming our Judy Woodland of  Judy’s Happy Place  and Bobby Hagen, of Bits & Pieces.  Welcome to JUGS ladies and I am once again thrilled to have you joining us!  We also still have our Guest Designer Steph Castro with us this month too.  So you gotta head on over to JUGS and check out all the exciting news and see all of the fabulous shaker cards too!

My shaker card doesn’t really need any explanation. All products are Stampin Up and my shaker was made with a plastic bag as I have no more acetate.

Have a wonderful day!  Nanc’

The Great Divide

DSC_0072

STB ToppingsHello fellow crafters,  Today over at Seize the Birthday we have a fun topping for you to try this week… I call it the Great Divide.  Meaning, take your card and or focal point of your card and divide it into third, halves, fourths or etc…  I think it’s a unique topping and I am really looking forward to seeing the gallery over the next two weeks to see what are fabulous participants do with it. Some of my DT members hit it out of the park! If you’re not a toppings kind of person remember it’s always an Anything Goes Birthday celebration.  For my card I decided it was time to practice my coloring skills, so I got out my Prisma colored pencils and one of my largest floral stamps and went to work. The Birthday sentiment is from Verve and not sure if you can tell in the photo, but I popped up one of the flowers to off set some of the dimension of that large button in the opposite corner. My colors were inspired by Sunday Stamps where they have pink, brown and white together, it’s one of my all time favorite combos!  I also have a photo of the stamp I used in case you were wondering why I picked such a strange color for my leaves.  The stamp is so pretty I thought I would give it a try. I sure hope you have a fantastic weekend ahead and if you find sometime to be creative you’ll consider joining us over at Seize the Birthday, we would love to have you!  Nanc’

Word Week @ Just Us Girls

DSC_0071

Screen Shot 2016-02-11 at 8.37.57 PMHello Friends, It’s going to be a beautiful day here in Sunny Florida and I can’t wait to get outside and enjoy it!  Before I go, it’s time for our Word Week challenge at Just Us Girls! Maria has chosen the word Flowers this week.  Pretty easy huh! Who doesn’t like to put flowers on their cards eeh?  I would also like to welcome our newest Guest Designer Steph Castro.  We are happy to have you with us this month Steph! My card came to life by the wonderful Mojo Monday Sketch that I really, really liked this week.

Mojo437Here are some card details: Stippled Blossom stamp set is from SU, Sentiment is also SU.  The scalloped square die was given to me, so not sure whose it is. You may not have noticed, but I took the center of that square and originally put it under my blossoms to represent the circle in the sketch but ended up nearly covering the entire thing. LOL The leaves are from a Sizzix Die. I sure hope you have a wonderful weekend and if you have time this week to join the girls and I at JUGS we would love it!  Take care,  Nancy
