Can’t Get Enough Coffee…

Hello Everyone, I have another quick post for you today! I have been eyeing the January Viva La Verve Sketch all month and have finally gotten a card completed for this challenge, and let me just say in the knick of time.  Again I have used the Coffee set for Verve that I adore, although this time using the cup and saucer and that adorable spoon. I couldn’t agree more with that sentiment.  I would not survive without my java! How ’bout you?  You can’t tell in the photo, but I have glossy accents on the coffee and the spoon. This paper from Bo Bunny really was fun to work with.  I used a bit of MFT and SU dies to complete my card.

Thanks for stopping in! Have a very creative day! Nanc’

Great ideas start with…

Want to sneak in a post really quick before I hit the hay.  I have been eyeing this great color combo over at The Color Throwdown this week and I finally snuck in a few minutes today while it was raining to play along.  I got out one of my all time favorite stamp sets from Verve called Coffee and its matching die too. I am in LOVE with the shape of this coffee mug! It super whimsical and cute at that same time.  I loved it so much, I decided to make my own background paper too. The coffee cup stamp doesn’t come with the heart, but I thought it worked really well, so I added it.

Thanks for always making my day with your visits and lovely comments. It sure makes me smile! Nanc’

With Sympathy…

Hello friends, It’s time again for a new challenge over at Just Us Girls.  It just so happens to be Photo Week and let me explain where my eyes were drawn to on this photo, as there is a lot to look at.

I loved the bold white mats around each of the pictures on the wall, so I decided to put a white open frame on my card. I took the bold bright yellow couch as my color choice for my flower, next I noticed the pink florals in the vase next to the couch and picked out my DP and last but not least I decided to incorporate black on my card base from the black and white striped rug. Now that it is finished, I think the vellum leaves do a nice job expressing the light cascading though the window….okay…I might be stretching it a tad! LOL  The butterfly, oval die and sentiment is SU, The Flower die is from SU- Rose Garden set, the vellum leaves are a huge die from Sizzix.

I am also entering this card over at Addicted to Stamps and More where it’s Anything Goes!

I hope you will drop by JUGS this week and check out the DT’s cards and our fabulous Guest Cathymac, and join us too.

Take care, Nanc’

Love Notes at TPP

Hello Friends,  I had a short time to play in my studio on Sunday and as soon as I saw the challenge over at The Paper Players I knew it would work perfectly for the amount of time I had carved away. Love the look of inlay die-cuts don’t you?

The heart dies are MFT, the i die is from Verve, and the You and all the paper is SU.

Have a fabulous day! Nanc’

Sending Smiles…

Hello,  It’s Color week over at Just Us Girls and Ina has a great trio of colors to get your mojo flowing. This card is similar to one I posted a few months back. The moment I saw the colors she had chosen, I knew I wanted to try my hand again at beach scene, so that is what I did. I did a bit better job of blending my Oxide inks this time around.  I used post it notes to mask off for this card. The sentiment is from Stampin Up and the birds are a die from Impression Obsession.

I hope to see you in our gallery at JUGS! If you don’t have time to make a card at least come by and check out the cards from my teammates and our Guest Cathymac this week.  Have a productive day! Nanc’

One Layer at STB!

Hello Friends, How is the weather where you are?  We are having quite a blast of cold air here in the Sunshine State with a low of 33 this morning and let’s just say I am not a huge fan.  I live in Florida for a reason! LOL  Anyways, we shall be back in the 70’s by the end of the weekend so all is good and I get to wear my boots too, so I ought to stop complaining! Today over at Seize the Birthday our topping we have starting is to make a One Layer Card.  I don’t do many of these types of cards and I wouldn’t say I am very good at them, but as they say, you just have to keep on trying. Today’s card was made with the Altenew stamp set called Botanical Garden. I water colored it and added some splatters when I was done.  I used the most intricate brush I had for the stems of the flowers.  That was my best part…LOL.

I am also going to be linking up over at CAS Watercolour where the challenge is Birthday. Hope to see you over in the Seize the Birthday Gallery and have a fabulous day!  Nanc’

Galaxy or Night Sky

Today over at Just Us Girls we have a new challenge starting and the Trend Sue has chosen for us is to make a Galaxy Background or Night Sky.  What a fun idea! This was something I had not done a lot of, so I enjoyed pushing my creativity.  Thanks Sue!!

When putting this card together I had some complications along the way but I do believe they turned out to work in my favor. I love to do emboss resist and this is where my card began. The inspiration behind my card you can find HERE.  The only thing I wish I would have managed to have done differently is make the center of my moon mostly white.  That is a challenge for me, as I tend to be a heavy handed ink blender. As much as I love the Oxide Inks I am still struggling with them. The other thing that worked out well is, I couldn’t find my bottle of white paint so I decided to try Gesso for my stenciled stars.  It worked, as the stars became more muted and I think it looks awesome that way. Last, I had to tilt my panel as my sentiment didn’t stamp straight. LOL

The stamps are a miss match of this and that picked up at Local Stamping stores.

Hope you will consider trying your hand at a Night or Galaxy background as well and join us over at JUGS!  Nanc’

JUGS is Back!

Hello friends, Just Us Girls is back from our nice long break and are ready to get back to it!  Vicki is our hostess this week and she has started the year off with a terrific challenge.  It’s Anything Goes this week, so I sure hope you will consider joining us!  While you are over at JUGS, I sure hope you will take a minute and help us welcome our Newest Design Team member!  She is so well known in the card making world that I was over the top excited to find out she was joining us! Carol Mayne from Just Me:c!  Yes I know!  Can you believe it? Now you know why I was so excited! Welcome Carol!! Can’t wait to work along side you!

We also have a new Guest Designer with us this month that I would very much like to Welcome! Cathy McCauley [cathymac].

Now a little bit about my card! If you stop by my blog regularly you know I don’t often make one layer cards.  However, I did enjoy putting this one together.  I had to be very patient as it started off kinda terrible and I just kept working with it, and it began to grow on me. It was made with two Altenew sets; Beautiful Day and Botanical Garden. It is done with watercolors after I heat embossed the flowers and stems with white EP. Next, I splattered it with the same tones of colors from the flowers and finally dotted with some Nuvo drops. Don’t examine it to closely as it has some major faux pas’.  LOL

Before I go I am linking my card up over at Stamp Ink, Paper where they have asked us to use Embossing of any kind.

Hope to see you at JUGS! Nanc’

Happy New Year!

Hello,  Happy New Year to you all!  I hope your New Year is off to a great start! It’s time for our first post of 2018 over at Seize the Birthday and we are starting the year with our Anything Goes Challenge. Just remember it needs to be a Birthday theme.

I have had this piece of DP in my scraps for so long, and I was determined to find a place on a card for it, and I finally did. I paired it up with some Verve leaf dies and a sentiment, a SU EF and circle die, and some MFT flowers.  Some gold Nuvo drops to top it off.

Before I go I would also like to welcome Kristie Goulet as our Surprise Party Guest over at STB.   I have been a HUGE fan of Kristie’s for the past 8 years and am thrilled to have her guesting with us these next two months.  She is really talented and her blog Kreative Kristie is linked up for you!
