Color Throwdown/ Sympathy

Hope you are having a great day!  As I mentioned a few posts ago, I am in love with my new SU leave dies and today I have another card for you and probably tomorrow as well.  This color combination over at the Color Throwdown grabbed my interest, so I thought why not give it a try. My orange isn’t as dark as their’s….and I hope it’s okay!  Do you think the blue looks unusual peeking out behind the negative of my leaves? I kinda like it. I also thought it would be perfect for a male sympathy card, which is why I made this to begin with. A former colleague of mine, and now a current colleague of my hubbies, just lost his daughter suddenly at age 32. So very, very sad and I hope my card can somehow lift his spirits for a minute or two.  Not sure you can tell in my photo, but I still have some gold sparkly paper left over from my son’s wedding and that is what I used to cut my leaves out with. The sentiment is from SU and is heat embossed in gold as well. The background was sponged with Oxide Inks and I added some Nuvo drops to tie it all together.

I will be back tomorrow with another card! Nanc’

  1. A beautiful way of using the negative and positive. I love this idea.

  2. Beautiful card. Love the blue peeking out in the negative space of the die cuts. Great card. TFS

  3. You out did yourself on this one. Seriously! The blue is great and love the soft sponged background of orange. Those Novo drops are sweet. I am sorry that it needed to be a sympathy card. We have done our share of sympathy too as we had two funeral this week. See you soon.

  4. The blue looks wonderful peeking through, Nancy, and I love the way you banded the sentiment oval. Masculine sympathy cards are not easy to design and this one is perfect.
