Fancy Folds

Hello,  Fancy Folds is our Challenge for Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls. Ina is our hostess and she was the wise woman that selected our challenge this week. A challenge is good for all of us…especially this girl! I can’t take credit for the original design of this card you will find it HERE!

The fold itself is very simple and Joy has much better photos and explanations than you would ever get from me.  Sorry folks, but just keeping it real.  Way too much time goes into that! My card has such a mix of stamps sets. It’s a bit of MFT and Stampin up.  The EF is from Cuttlebug. I colored my little bird with colored pencil…badly it appears.  I thought it looked better than that in real life, but the card is gone so I can’t check. LOL  I have been selling so many cards at one of the local gift stores in town that I rarely have any on hand for very long.  It’s a good problem for sure.  It feeds my addiction at least!

You must come to Just Us Girls and check out the rest of my teammate’s cards…they did much better than I on this challenge. Thanks also to Marlena for being such a fabulous guest!

Take care and Happy Stamping! Nanc’

Hard to Love!

Hi, Hope you are having a creative week! I managed to squeeze a bit of time in my studio yesterday and created two cards to share. Have you ever purchased a stamp set and every time you try to love it….you just can’t?  That is how I feel about the older set I have for you today by SU, it’s called Lotus Blossom. I decided instead of throwing the blossoms into the circular file after I stamped them, I would forge ahead and see what I could do to jazz them up. However, I have a strong feeling it’s going to be a while again before this set leaves my shelf.  As negative as I have been about my card, sorry about that, I must admit I love the Color Cardstock and Ink from SU- it’s called Rich Razzleberry. Both my designs were inspired by this great sketch over at The Paper Players.

Thanks for stopping by, Nanc’

Card Info: The sentiments I used are Stampendous (above) and Ink on 3.

The enamel dots are SU.

The EF’s are…??(leaves) and (flowers)Cuttlebug.

The leaf punch is SU.

Winka Stella on the blossoms too.

CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hi Friends,  I know…I am on a role with posting! Right? It’s been a great week for sure! I have one more card for a challenge that I have been eyeing all month long and is nearly ready to close. I made it, right under the wire.  The card is for the CAS Watercolour Challenge where the challenge is something blue.  I sure hope my card qualifies for CAS. It was very simple to make and still has a lot of white space, but I am a bit afraid that I added one too many layers. Fingers crossed! But if that one is a no go….. I am also linking my card up at Inkspirational Challenge where the word is Garden.

Here are a few details:  The flower and leaves are from one of my all-time favorite Stupendous sets called Bouquet for You, and are obviously heat embossed and watercolored.  They are then fussy cut, which was not hard at all.  The white leafy swirl is from MFT and I have had it for YEARS! The double square frames were gifted to me from my friend Barb, so I am not sure whose they are. Love the look of them doubled and titled! The sentiment is from SSS.  Added some sequins and I was done.

Thanks for all the love as of late, I enjoy each an every visit and comment. Nanc’

More Bees are Buzzing…..

I am back today with more Bumble Bees for the Twofer Challenge and the great sketch going on at Freshly Made! I told you I kinda got carried away and made just a few Bee cards the other day…LOL.  I have a bad habit of not wanting to waste any scraps and I had leftover Alchohol ink paper that I had to put to use, and then I had the bright negative pieces from a couple of days ago card, that I thought might be kinda fun to use.

In hindsight I am disappointed that I added the navy dots around the bee…but once I started I had to embrace it. Isn’t that DP gorgeous! I am sorry but I have NO idea whose it is.  If I had to take a wild guess I would say Blue Bunny. I got it from my Local Stamping store. Here is a closer look. The vellum bee really makes the card and doesn’t take away from that beautiful paper. The sentiment is from Pretty Pink Posh.  I made a mistake on the Sketch and centered my sentiment. 😦

Here is another card that really showcases the paper beautifully, and the leftover negative pieces I couldn’t waste!  The sentiment is from Verve and the enamel dots are SU.

That is all for me today!  Hope you have a fabulous day however you wish to spend it! I am going back to party planning and might make a card or two. Nanc’

Ombre @ CAS Mix UP Card Challenge

Hi,  I finally have my very first Christmas Card made for this year…Woohoo!!!!  I am so far behind! How about you?  I have been eyeing the CAS Mix Up Challenge all month as I love the Ombre look on any card. This card was made using the new Glitter paste that I fell in love with as soon as I cracked it open.  You can find a link Here!

This already stenciled background piece was sitting on my desk for 2 weeks just waiting to be used. So I got out my Ornament Dies from SU and my favorite Verve Christmas sentiment and went to work. The snowfall EF in the background is also from SU. The bows at the top are from Paper Smooches. What do you think of a non-traditional color for a Christmas card?  I kinda like it! It’s Samba Ink from Catherine Pooler and Flirty Flamingo paper in the background from SU.  I used the glitter paste right over top the ink so it would shine through. I had a very hard time photographing this card.  I guess due to all the shimmer. It looks lovely in real life.

So to wrap things up….for my card, I chose Ombre, Stamping, and Glitter Paste. Thanks for your visits and Happy Stamping! Nanc’

Hello- Photo Inspiration

Hi,  Hope you are having a great day! Today over at Just Us Girls we have a Photo inspiration starting for you!  I kinda went my own way with this photo inspiration…so let me explain.  I was contemplating this card most of the week, as I don’t own a cocktail stamp that isn’t more than a 1/2 inch tall and I didn’t feel like making a shaker card with my MFT cocktail dies.  I realized, my eyes kept being drawn to that beautiful deep blue sky and those white puffy clouds, so that is how my card came to be.  The feathers represent, all my worries drifting away if I in fact was sitting on a tropical island sipping on a cocktail such as these.

That’s my story and I am sticking to it! Seriously!!

Of course, as I am writing this post I just realized that I could have used my lemonade stamps!  (insert-hand palm to the head) 😦

The card was made with Oxide Inks, white embossing powder, PI-feather stamp, scalloped border, and greeting.

Please come by Just Us Girls and join us!  Nanc’

Perfect Pearls..

Do you ever buy a crafting supply because you saw it on a YouTube Video (probably Jennifer McGuire) and you had to run out and buy it right away?  Then years later, you see a challenge asking you to use it and the light bulb comes on in your head and you’re like…hey, I have that stuff! Well, that’s exactly what happened this week for me! I am sure it’s happened to you too!! At least humor me and agree that it has. 😉  The funny thing is… if I just “HAD TO HAVE IT” way back then, why on earth is the packaging still intact? LOL

Okay, enough of my silly rant! Today’s card was so much fun to make using my “New” Perfect Pearls and joining in the fun over at CAS Stencil Challenge.  The Perfect Pearls is a tad messy and I highly recommend that you use a fixative spray when you’re done, so it doesn’t continuously wipe off on your hands. I liked it a lot before I sprayed it and loved it even more after I took it outside and gave it a good douse. It seemed to enrich the color.

Then I had to figure out what to do next!  I decided that I would turn the pretty paper into both birthday candles and (flowers for a later post) as to not waste a scrap. The pretty scalloped foil paper is SU made with an MFT die. The sentiment is Hero Arts, and the candles are a die-cut by Elizabeth Craft Designs. The little tiny pearls I placed in each corner are SU and match perfectly!

Here are a couple other pics!

Have a wonderful day! Nanc’

Cover the Card

We have a fun and easy topping for you starting today at Seize the Birthday. My fellow DT member Ashwini wants us to Cover our Cards. Basically what that means is limited white space. The background stamp (Gerbera Daisy- from SSS) I used today is brand new to me and I couldn’t wait to use it.  One day soon I hope to color it too, but I chickened out for this post. LOL I decided to do some emboss resist with my Oxide Inks instead.  The sentiment is Verve and the flower and Smile die is MFT.  I raised the center of the card with some foam for added interest. The smile has a shiny sheen by using crystal effects.

Here is a picture of the panel before I mounted it. If you haven’t tried THESE makeup brushes I suggest you do.  My friend Barb suggested I get them and I am so glad I did!!  Thanks Barb!

Before I go I would like to take a moment to thank our Surprise Party Guest and my friend Linda for joining us these past two months.  It was an absolute pleasure having you Linda!  Please play along again with us when you have the time.  We love your work and you my friend.

I am also going to link my card up over at The Flower Challenge where they want us to Focus on Background stamping. I am so glad I didn’t miss this challenge this month.

Now head on over to Seize the Birthday and check out Linda’s and the amazing teammate’s cards!

Happy Crafting, Nanc’

The Bees Buzz!

I am so happy I didn’t miss this month’s word over at the Twofer Card Challenge.  Thank goodness for Summer Break!  As soon as I saw that the word was Bees, I knew I was going to get another opportunity to use the fabulous BEE die cut that I purchased for my son’s wedding nearly two years ago. Thanks Darnell, for picking this word and giving me the opportunity to reminisce while using it again.  In fact, I enjoyed it soooooo much I made 6 cards and not just 2. LOL  Hopefully, I will get the other’s posted also.  I am still in the midst of retirement party planning for the hubster, so even having a chance to make some cards yesterday felt really good.  Today, I am in the midst of making posts while my Cameo is doing its thing.  When I decided to take the pics of my cards, I thought it would be fun if I could catch a picture of the bees swarming my beautiful Ixoras along with my cards in my back yard. No luck, plus it was too incredibly hot to try for very long. LOL. The first card was obviously pieced together with different colors of bumble bees and that dainty floral stamp is from SU. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.  As for the second card, the background was first made with Alcohol Inks in earth tone colors to resemble a honeycomb (at least that is where my mind went) then it started to get rather muddy so I incorporated some gold and then some turquoise to brighten it up. I think it did the trick. It really shimmers in real life. The sentiment is from Verve. I am also going to link one of my cards up over at Inkspirational where the word is Garden. Every garden has bees and if we didn’t have bees….we would have no garden.

Here they are by themselves.

That’s it for me today! I may be back sometime to share some of the other cards I made.

Take care and happy crafting, Nanc’

HUGS!

Hi,  The card I have for you today is similar to one I have made in the past and loved so much I decided to make it again. It’s quick and easy with good results!  The butterfly and wall background are SU, the flower and the scalloped rectangles are MFT and the leaves are Verve. The Hugs sentiment is from Lawn Fawn. Lastly, Nuvo drops.

I hope you will consider joining us this week at Just Us Girls. The team and our guest Marlena made some really great cards!  Nanc’
