With Sympathy with Painted Flowers

I stumbled upon a new to me card challenge site called Inspire Create Challenges and their theme this week is Sympathy. I love this stamp set called Painted Flowers that I got from my friend Bobby, and I hadn’t used it in a while. I knew it was going to make a great Sympathy card. The sentiment is heat-set with gold embossing powder. The center of the flowers were made with Nuvo drops. I watercolored my flowers a bit after I stamped them on watercolor paper, to try to get some shading.

I am also entering this card over at The Flower Challenge where it’s Anything Goes.

I hope you have a wonderful day, Nanc’

ABC

Hello, Over at Just Us Girls it’s Word Week and the word Vicki chose is School.  Since I don’t usually make back to school cards these days, I decided to make a baby card instead, using the ABC’s. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Janet Ribet.… she is our guest this month! Welcome Janet! We are happy to have you!

Please come by Just Us Girls and check out the rest of the team’s cards….and join us!  We would love to have you!

Card Details: Letters are Sizzix, the rounded border is from MFT, and the square dies are SU.  I am sorry to say, I don’t remember where I got the images from. They are colored with colored pencil.

Thanks for stopping by! Nanc’

Rain and Sunshine Make a Rainbow.

Hello,  Today’s card is for the inspired by words challenge over at Time Out Challenges. “It takes both rain and sunshine to make a rainbow.”  I must admit that with all the sadness and devastation by hurricane Dorian, I feel quite guilty sitting here writing a blog post, while others are mourning loved ones and or trying to put their homes and lives back together. Mother nature sure was unkind to the poor people of the Bahamas and along the east coast. I feel very fortunate to have dodged this beast.  Dorian needs to hurry up and move on out to sea and spare the rest of the U.S. too.

Card Details:  MFT-rainbow, heart and rectangles, Lawn Fawn-clouds and sun.  The sentiment is from Verve.

Hugs to all, Nanc’

Thanks A LOT

Hello,  Today’s card is for a very fun and interesting sketch over at Just Add Ink. Before, I put my leaf stamps and dies away, I decided to make one more card using the small leaf stamp that comes with this set. Yet again, I used the smooshing technique to make the background colors on my larger leaves. This was a fun and simple card to do. The sentiment is from Verve.

Hugs, Nanc’

Birthday Cupcakes!

Hello, Today I have my 3rd and final card using the wonderful sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. They have some great prizes up for grabs for their 400th challenge so wish me luck!

Card Details: The fun little cupcakes are from Verve and the sentiment is a freebie I got from Scrapbook.com. This is the first time I used my fun MFT-Stitched Ric Rac border and I love the look of it.  I colored the cupcakes with a mix of Copics and Colored pencil. I have a piece of SU patterned vellum sandwiched between my teal Spellbinders scalloped die and my white SU circle die. Had to fussy cut my cupcake, (which was not in the plan) as I accidentally splattered some Copic right next to it.  Added some sequins and I was done.

Hope you get to spend the day just the way you want too, Nanc’

My Favorite Fall Leaves

Second Post of the Day! Both for Freshly Made Sketches!

Since it was the first day of Fall on the Starbucks calendar that is, I went and got myself the first Pumpkin Latte of the season yesterday. YUM!!  When I got back, I decided why not make a fall birthday card using my all-time favorite leaf dies from SU. I did the watercolor smooshing technique for my fall leaves. The background is a script SU embossing folder that I put ink on with a sponge dauber after I embossed it.  I wanted more of a worn look. The victorian scalloped border and outline of the leaves were made with gold paper that doesn’t pick up well in the photo. The sentiment is from Gina K. The larger white rectangle also has the EF script on it but doesn’t show up in the photo either. I last decided to cover the stems of my leaves with the sentiment panel…it almost looks like a pocket.

Linking up again with Freshly Made Sketches!

Here in Florida we are patiently waiting for Dorian to make the projected right turn.  I pray he spares all of the U.S.

Take care,  Nanc’

Freshly Made 400!

Hello,  Freshly Made Sketches is celebrating a huge milestone with their 400th challenge and I couldn’t pass up the chance to play along. Congrats to FMS!!!  Not only are there prizes, but the sketch is super fun too.  In fact, I loved it so much, I made two other cards that I will be posting later on.  I have been in the Christmas card mood as of late, and have made about 8 Christmas cards over the last ten days or so. It feels good to get started on these, as we all know the Holidays come rather quickly after Labor Day.

Here are some card details:  The poinsettia die is from Memory Box, the sentiment is from Verve. The DP is SU and there is a fun script embossing folder underneath the poinsettia (that is new to me) and is SU also.  The fun rounded stitched rectangle is from MFT. I make the decorative victorian edges with my Fiskars paper cutter.

Below is a close up so you can see the texture of the EF and the lines on the poinsettia too.

Happy crafting, Nanc’
