Happy Birth-DAY!

Hello, I haven’t had much time recently to play along with any challenges in blog-land but today I finally have something to share.  I wanted to get out one of my favorite block stamps and do a little pencil coloring.  This is one of those stamps that doesn’t take much effort to color with great results.  I am going to link this card up over at Inkspirational where the word is Day.

The sentiment and tag die are Verve, the button die is MFT.

I hope this post finds you well and you have found a way to be happy today!  The weather is finally cooler…YEAH, so hubby and I went for a long walk.  The fresh air can really help heal the soul. Then we stopped for coffee and that helped too!

Before I go, this man turns 90 today.  I love him so and I think he loves me too…hopefully as much as he loves his dog.  It is questionable though. He gets tears in his eyes when he talks about her.  Thanks to Covid and his stubbornness there will be no celebration.  I finally talked him into cake tonight but that only worked because I told him ASH (the dog) could get another walk. Then he is like okay she would love that. LOL

Happy Birthday DAD!

Welcome Baby

Hello,  It’s time again for the next challenge at Just Us Girls!  I needed a baby card and although I didn’t use any of the colors from the inspiration photo, I did use stars! 😉  You know me by now and there is a very good possibility that this is a CASE of myself. Yeppers!  Somedays we don’t have time to reinvent the wheel!

Card details:  Emory the Elephant and sentiment are Verve, the clouds are Lawn Fawn, the stars are MFT, the circle die is SU, and the small and large scallop are both Spellbinders.

Please come by JUGS and join us!

Celebrate @ Seize the Birthday!

Hello, We have a milestone celebration starting over at Seize the Birthday! It is our 200th challenge and we have some really good prizes up for grabs too!  I couldn’t have reached this milestone without my fabulous team! You must go check it out!  For our topping this time you have to create a card and or project that is inspired by our graphic.  For this challenge we want you to make a card and/or project that is inspired by the graphic below.  Whether it be the colors, the balloons, the watercolor vibe, or the numbers, etc. Whatever sparks your creativity.  However for this challenge only, we are asking you to explain in your post how exactly you were inspired!  Not only am I personally giving away 2 $25 dollar Simon Says Gift Certificates for our 2 top winners, we even have an additional 4 Mystery prizes up for grabs also.

Card Details:  I first made my own background with some Oxide Inks and an MS punch which I used as a stencil. Then colored my sweet Ele from MFT with Copics and Prismas. The black letters are from MFT too.  I think it’s pretty evident that I pulled the colors and the balloons from our graphic for my inspiration. Even the black letters represent the lettering on our graphic as well.

So make sure you head on over to Seize the Birthday for ALL the details and guidelines. It’s going to be fun!

See you there, Nanc’

Hello

Hi!  This card is one of those cards that you aren’t sure if you love it or hate it. LOL The jury is still deliberating as we speak. I think I cheated a bit with the green as it’s more turquoise for the majority of the card.  Sorry about that Carol.  There was no time to fix it when I started to write this post. I did use a green piece of chalk for the stem and leaves of the flower though. I chalked up the flower too.  I haven’t done that technique for so long.  All you need is a Q-tip to color with.

The flower stamp is from Stampin Up, the HELLO – die-cuts from MFT, the scalloped piece at the bottom and the tab on the side are MFT dies also. I am not sure where I got the checkered stencil for the background. Everything was done with chalk.

Come by Just Us Girls and check out what our fabulous team and guest Lindsey have done! Nanc’

Palm Trees

Hello, I was getting short on time and was wondering if I would be able to find the time to join in the Twofer Challenge this month, but thank goodness I had some time today (thanks to the hubster for taking care of my dad today for me). Love him so!  I usually don’t miss this great challenge if I can help it.

Card Number 1-I had the MFT Palm Tree not yet put away on my table in my studio and thought why not use Palm Trees!  I mean I do live in Florida for goodness sake!  I have been wanting to get out my Alcohol Inks out and make some sunset backgrounds so that is what I did.  I actually made 5 panels while I was getting messy.  I decided a black palm tree and beach might do the trick. The birthday sentiment for this card is from Verve. The bird die is from Memory Box.

Card Number 2– I have been a bit chicken to color my sweet little Hula Girl from Polynesian Paradise- also MFT, and today I decided to go for it.  How do I expect to get good at coloring people without actually coloring them? LOL  She isn’t too bad for the first time.  The rest of the stamps and sentiment are all from this MFT set.  I thought the DP kinda looked like tiny surf boards and wasn’t sure it would work, but I kinda like it. I used Copics and Colored Pencil.

Here is a picture of one of the cards by itself.  I am entering it in the Tic Tac Toe Challenge this week. Using the bottom row of Diecuts-Add a Sentiment-Kraft.

I hope you are staying safe and trying to enjoy life the best you can, Nanc’

Superstar Challenge- I Heard You Were Dragon

Hello, I thought I would give the Superstar Challenge – category CAS Genius a go over at MFT.  The competition is always so amazing that I usually feel intimidated, but I thought what the heck, why not give it another try!  I first took a white sheet of cardstock and a piece of acetate, and some black ink and made some black stripes on my cardstock.  I had intended on taking a Copic Marker and coloring in the white stripes with BG13 however, I did one spot at the top of the stencil and didn’t like it so I left it alone.  I did end up using a piece of it in the design though. Trying to do something different, so I thought why not black and white striped clouds? Why not! I took my black and white paper and my MFT Stitched Cloud die cuts and made my 3 layers of clouds.  I then colored my cute little Dragon using both Copic markers and Prisma Colored Pencils too.  I  doubled him up for stability and perched him on a Stitched tag from MFT. The sentiment is from the same stamp set-Magical Dragons.  Some black twine and enamel dots and I was finished.

If you haven’t joined in over at MFT you still have time!  Be Brave like me!   The prizes are incredible!

Here are a couple of pictures that I took so you can see the process.

I take two pieces of acetate and taped them down using the guide from my Tim Holtz glass media mat to make my stripes.  I love that device! Not sure how I lived without it!

You can see the piece I had leftover that I decided to use on my tag.

With Sympathy @ Color Hues

Hello,  Today’s card is for the next color challenge at Color Hues. Our colors are Navy and Turquoise this time around.  I needed to work on my stock of Sympathy cards and I often times I need more of a masculine card and thought this might be okay.  Is it okay to put fish on Sympathy cards?  I am thinking now that it is somewhat strange.   This is one of my favorite stamp sets from Stampin Up.  I used kraft as one of my neutrals, and that is perfectly fine over at Color Hues as neutrals are always welcome.

We had such a phenomenal array of cards and turn out for our first challenge I am equally excited to see what the gallery has in store this time around!  I am feeling very blessed with the outpouring of support.

Hope you will pop on over to Color Hues and check out the Design Team’s cards they are fabulous once again.

Take care, Nanc’

Hey, Gullfriend!

Hello, I hope you are doing well.  Today I have a mix of two stamp sets from MFT on my card. I have been playing a lot with MFT as of late, but haven’t shared many of the cards that I have made with you yet!  These were my latest purchases with the last vault release -Seaside Seagulls and the Polynesian Paradise sets.  I have been obsessed with making cloud-shaped backgrounds using masking stencils and Acetate too. Since I am playing along with the Color Challenge at MFT I had to use be creative and use Coral for my sky. I shied away from coloring the seagull grey, as that is not one of the colors this week, so he is al-natural to go along with the colors in the challenge. The sky was done with Oxide Ink- Abandoned Coral. I used the MFT cloud stencil as well.  Copics and Prisma Colored Pencils as my medium of choice.

Of course, I have to join in the fun with my buddy Darnell over at Never Before Used Schtuff!

I am so glad you dropped in for a visit.  Stay safe out there in this crazy world! Hugs! Nanc’

Cut into Thirds

Hello, I am your hostess this week at Just Us Girls and the Trend I have chosen is to cut your card and or project into thirds. This card would work well as a wedding card in my opinion. The stamp set I used is an old one from Stampin Up that doesn’t get much use.

I sure hope you will join the girls and our guest Lindsey this week at JUGS!  They all did a great job with this challenge! Nanc’

Life is Better…

I just recently fell head over heels in love with Honey Bee Stamps.  I know you are probably thinking where have you been Nancy!  Better late than never as the saying goes.  I have been making some really fun summer cards with their Flippin Fabulous set and I can still do that since it is hotter than the dickens here in Florida still.   I am not quite ready to break out the fall cards as of yet, so I embraced fall colors with a beachy card instead.  I have the matching die for the Flip Flops but I thought it might be fun to stamp them right on the background for a fun ombre effect. And I must say, I am pretty happy with it.  All except my brown starfish that is.  My piece of cardstock in the background is brown too.  It almost looks black in the photo.

I am playing with the great Fall colors over at The Color Throwdown. I inked my background using Antique Linen, Spiced Marmalade, Abandoned Coral, and Fired Brick Oxide Inks.  I colored the straps of the flip flops with Copics and then I  used a colored pencil to cast a shadow.  I covered the straps of the flip flops with Crystal Effects.  The yellow ferns are from Stampin Up. The rest of the shells and sentiments are from the same Honey Bee set.  I added a little sand texture with a SU stamp.

I am going to Ink this card up over at  Darnell’s NBUS too.

I sure appreciate you stopping by and all of your encouraging comments!  Nanc’

Here is one more shot!
