Superstar Challenge- I Heard You Were Dragon

Hello, I thought I would give the Superstar Challenge – category CAS Genius a go over at MFT.  The competition is always so amazing that I usually feel intimidated, but I thought what the heck, why not give it another try!  I first took a white sheet of cardstock and a piece of acetate, and some black ink and made some black stripes on my cardstock.  I had intended on taking a Copic Marker and coloring in the white stripes with BG13 however, I did one spot at the top of the stencil and didn’t like it so I left it alone.  I did end up using a piece of it in the design though. Trying to do something different, so I thought why not black and white striped clouds? Why not! I took my black and white paper and my MFT Stitched Cloud die cuts and made my 3 layers of clouds.  I then colored my cute little Dragon using both Copic markers and Prisma Colored Pencils too.  I  doubled him up for stability and perched him on a Stitched tag from MFT. The sentiment is from the same stamp set-Magical Dragons.  Some black twine and enamel dots and I was finished.

If you haven’t joined in over at MFT you still have time!  Be Brave like me!   The prizes are incredible!

Here are a couple of pictures that I took so you can see the process.

I take two pieces of acetate and taped them down using the guide from my Tim Holtz glass media mat to make my stripes.  I love that device! Not sure how I lived without it!

You can see the piece I had leftover that I decided to use on my tag.

  1. Good for you for giving it a go, Nancy. Your dragon is darling and why not black and white clouds. I love the look.

  2. So very cute.

  3. An adorable card, Nancy. Love your little dragon. Hope things are going well with you.

  4. That dragon is adorable, and your design is first-rate!

  5. First, I love how you made the stripes and then showed how you did it. Great idea. The colors of the card are so striking and I have always loved that dragon. His facial expression is just right for this sentiment. Good luck with the contest.
