Word Week-Animals

Hello, Here we are back to Saturday again and time for the Word Week at Just Us Girls. I don’t know what your weather is like where you are but let me just say that it’s been perfect here! Yesterday, hubby and I spent the morning at the beach, which in fact totally inspired my card for today. As you can see I am still in fun background mode!

Card Details: Die cuts are from Sizzix, I used the smooshing technique to color my seahorse and seagrass. The background was made with my MFT water stencil along with a stencil I made with stitched rectangles and a piece of acetate. Don’t look too close around my rectangles as the ink may have come through and left a dashed border around each rectangle. Note to self, don’t use stitched dies when making your own stencil. LOL The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

I also, realized that this is the first time I used my Seahorse and Sand-dollar from Sizzix so I will be sharing this over at the fabulous Darnell’s NBUS.

The card that inspired me also with this layout is below! I love everything Michelle does from the Card Grotto! She is super talented!

Come on over to Just Us Girls, we have a brand new Guest with us… Welcome, Shawna! Shawna along with the team have a fun array of animals for you to enjoy!

Take care, Nanc’

  1. Cute, cute, cute. I love the sea horse and that colors. Great background and CAS card. The photo with your fabulous flower bush in the background is the best color and matches the card too. Just lovely!

  2. I just saw this on JUGS and knew immediately it was your card! I love everything about this from the lovely stenciled background to the ink smooshed seahorse and the wonderful sand dollar. Screams beach to me—in another six weeks we’ll be at the beach (South Carolina) and I can’t wait. Deep cold here for two more days, and then a week of relief!

  3. A wonderful card design and a great take on the photo.

  4. Your card is gorgeous. I love making my own stencils too but thanks for the don’t use stitched dies tip.

  5. I totally LOVE this! Beautiful background for that gorgeous seahorse, sand dollar and sea grasses. I love how this inspired you from your beach time with hubby. Seahorses have always fascinated me!

  7. We are shivering across the pond but we do have sunshine so I can’t complain. I LOVE that you spent a happy morning at the beach 🙂 What a beautiful card you made too. I love the texture and colour of the seahorse and that pretty background. Thanks for your tip about not using stitched shapes as stencils (although I can’t see anything wrong with yours!) Vicky x

  8. The smooshing on the seahorse is perfect, Nancy! I love the background and that sand dollar die is so realistic.

  9. I love your pretty seahorse and the way you have showcased him with the rectangle splash stenciling, Nanc’! And that little bouquet of seaweed behind the sanddollar is fantastic! Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Keep well! Hugs, Darnell (p.s. That beautiful orange bush is a perfect backdrop for your card!)
