Color my world with family, friends and some time to be creative making cards!

Happy B’Day

Hello, I am back today with a card for the first challenge of the New Year over at Seize the Birthday. Today Colleen has asked us to make a birthday card with a topping of Blue and Gray. I love color challenges so I was very excited when I saw this one coming up. We also have the uber-talented and sweet Vicky Hayes joining us as our Surprise Party Guest for the next two months.

I am in love with this background stencil, as you can see, as I have used it yet again. As for my coloring, don’t look too closely as I stamped my cute gnome onto a piece of cardstock that clearly was not Copic friendly. My balloon is looking a bit saturated. Once I realized that that was happening, I quickly changed to Prismas and tried to salvage it the best I could.

Christmas came down yesterday, except for the lovely array of (37) Christmas cards that I received from all over the globe. I want to admire these through the rest of the month. Handmade is always the best part of Christmas…in my opinion. I displayed them differently this year as my grand kitty was always knocking them off the entertainment center, but I like it a lot.

Card Details: The background stencil is Heffy Doddle, The gnome is from Whimsy Stamps, The clouds are a stencil from MFT, postal dies are Hero Arts, the sentiment is also MFT, and a few star sequins to finish it off.

Since it’s the New Year, I think it’s time to replenish those Birthday cards, don’t you? Hope you will consider playing along at STB! Remember, our topping is optional…any Birthday card or project will do.

Take care and happy creating, Nanc’

  1. I think your cute gnome looks great, glad you salvaged him. Great card too.

  2. I cannot tell you how many gnomes I had around my house this Christmas (too many? nah!!) One was 37 inches tall with the hat even taller, but it fell off to the side. I had to have Scott buy me a new container to fit them all in!! You know Gnomes bring good luck, right? Anyway, back to the card, I LOVE it! I can not tell that it is not perfect, so I guess you did an amazing job of salvaging it! It looks perfect to me and I love your background sky, as always! You have mastered it! Happy New Year my friend!

  3. OMG, that gnome, though!!!! I am SO partial to gnomes and yours is so stinkin’ CUTE!!! I love your design with the fun background, great card my friend. Happy New Year!!!

  4. Oh Nancy, I adore your gnome and if there was any issue with coloring it is not evident. In fact, it really caught my eye because it looks fabulous – well done on your expert salvage job. Plus all the elements combined make one super cute card!

  10. Loving your stencilled background Nancy and your little gnome is adorable – just look at his bashful expression! I can’t see a thing wrong with your balloon so that must have been a great save! How lucky you are to receive so many beautiful handmade cards. I agree that the handmade ones take pride of place! Thanks for having me to play at STB! Vicky x
