Color my world with family, friends and some time to be creative making cards!

Sending My Love

Hello, I am back today with a card that is a total CASE of a card I saw Cathy Zielske do. I had just received this great foil background from Spellbinders (from my son) for Christmas and then two weeks later, Cathy did a card using it. The timing was perfect and I was in love right away. The card is super quick to do. All you have to do is foil the background and then color it in with brushes and inks. I used Oxide Inks. The sentiment is also foiled and from Spellbinders too. You can find all the info below.

Now, you all know how hard it is to photograph foiled cards, so you have to trust me that this looks wonderful in real life and it was so quick and easy to do. I took many photographs below.

I could not find Cathy’s card on her blog but it is on her Instagram account which I have linked up for you HERE! It is much softer and prettier than mine. Before I do this again, I will need some smaller blending brushes so I can stay inside the lines better when ink blending. It is supposed to be a little messy and that is what I love most about it.

Before I went to work, I checked out the colors at the Color Throwdown and I knew they would work perfectly!

I would be amiss if I didn’t link up with my friend Darnell over at NBUS.

Yana’s Sentiments

I certainly hope you have a wonderful day, however you chose to spend it. I will be playing it low-key today, as yesterday was extremely busy and emotional. We spent the morning continuing the task of cleaning out my father’s home and then we met with the realtor. Then after lunch, we released our parent’s ashes along with their first grand-child (all together). Of course, I cried most of the day and slept poorly on top of that, as I had way too much to think about.

Take care, Nanc’

  1. It’s an emotional journey for sure, Nancy, but my thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through it.
That looks like such an easy way to add color to the foiled flowers. Maybe finger daubers are the answer to small spaces. I have smaller brushes but find the less expensive daubers work well too.

  2. Wow–what a cool technique! I haven’t tried foiling just yet…Thanks for joining us for this week’s Color Throwdown!
