Exciting Announcement!

Hi Friends,  I am over the moon excited to share my news with all of you!  It has been really hard keeping this a secret for so long. I have always wanted to start my very own Color Challenge and I finally did it! EEKKKKKK! I always told myself to wait until I retired when I would have more time on my hands. But in fact, I had this in the works a few months before I chose to retire since I was home so much during these crazy uncertain times, I figured why not start it now. So I guess I have the Pandemic to thank for having something good to have come from it!  I love it when things work out as they should.

I would be amiss to not say THANK YOU to you, my followers, because without you I may not have even attempted to try something like this. I know I run Seize the Birthday rather successfully, but I didn’t build it from scratch.  I actually took it over many years ago from Lesley Croghan. I heard that as she was going to close it down and I didn’t want that to happen so I asked her if I could have it.  I am so glad she said yes!  I have enjoyed Seize the Birthday and Just Us Girls (where I am a DT member) immensely and have no plans to stop being a part of either one of those teams.  Many of you have been part of my journey since day one (back in 2008). I will always be grateful for the friends I have made along this journey and blessed with the ones I have been lucky enough to meet in person.  My list is surely growing with those I wish to still meet one day, once it is safe to travel again!  As for my new team,  I wish I could have asked each and every one of you to join me on this journey but that just wasn’t possible!  However, I do hope you will support me and play along when you have time.

Please head on over to my NEW challenge Color Hues and check out all the details.

Thanks again for everything I am very grateful!

Calm Seas Ahead…

Hello Friends,  I made this card a few months ago for a stamping and DT friend whose hubby was having some health problems.  I am happy to report he is home now and doing much better, thank goodness. I started off making a watercolored background, then decided I wanted to make a port hole to spy on my ship. I love the look of it! The image, rhinestones, and the circle die is from SU. The rope was really easy to make, you just have to google it. Last but not least, I cheated and made the sentiment on my computer.

I am hostess this week at Just Us Girls…I would love for you to join me! We also have a new Guest with us this month!  Please come on by and help us welcome Laura Unger.   We are so happy to have you with us Laura!   Happy stamping, Nanc’

Vellum at STB!

Hello Friends,  We have a fun topping starting today over at Seize the Birthday and that is to use Vellum on your card and or project! Easy huh?  I first want to clarify that this card was not my original idea!  Below is the GORGEOUS card I CASED! I can’t find the original post!  I know it’s from someone I follow regularly.  Looks like a Laurie Schmidlin card from Just Give Me Stamps if you ask me, but I can’t be certain! Heavy sigh!  Any hoozal…life must go on! My card is for a dear friend of mine that is turning 80 very soon. The stitched rectangle, banner dies, flowers, and floral leaf are all from MFT. The bow is from Paper Smooches and the vellum tag was cut with my SU tag punch and scalloped with my Fiskars victorian blade. The Happy Birthday that I divided is from Verve. Such a quick and fun card to put together.  I think before I stick it in the mail it needs some bling!

Have a great day and please come and join us at Seize the Birthday…my teammates and Surprise Party Guest Anita did a fabulous job! Happy Stamping! Nanc’

Praying for you my friend….

Hello,  I have a super quick post for you today!  I saw this GREAT color combo over at Just Add Ink and wanted to see if I could put something together for a dear co-worker that is having a terrible time. I let my fingers do the walking through Pinterest and decided to come up with something similar to Kay Miller’s card below…isn’t it gorgeous?  Not overly happy with my pink flowers, as I started off watercoloring them and then decided to go over it with prisma colored pencil. It will have to do! The flowers and leaves are from Altenew and the sentiment is Verve.  Have a wonderful day! Nanc’

Keep Calm and Drink Coffee!

Hello Friends, I am going to sneak in a quick post this evening just hours before this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch comes to a close.  I just recently got this great Coffee stamp set and two die cuts from Verve and I couldn’t wait to use them for the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I doubled the Coffee die for some depth and cut the sentiment in half to help stay with the sketch.  Not only is this set simply awesome, but Julee the owner of Verve sent me these pieces of Designer Paper with my order too. Love them! Thanks Julee! You will be seeing another card made with these great papers very soon. This card is rather simple and I felt it needed something else, but I just decided to leave it be before I ruined it. Sometimes too much is too much! Ya know what I mean?

Now go check out the Verve products that I have linked up for you,  they happen to be on SALE!  Hugs, Nanc’

I got it from a dear friend of mine!  It has become one of my all time favorites!

With or without….read on to find out more!

STB 19

Fellow crafters,

Today over at Seize the Birthday we have listened to our faithful

participants and have added this to our challenge…..

It’s an Anything Goes Birthday type of challenge with a “Toppings “ Option!

Remember that a Topping is infact an “Option” and not a requirement!

Because not everyone always wants a cherry on top…now do they??

So this week your “Toppings” option is

” Monochromatic.”

If you decide to add a topping to your Birthday card/project it

should exude one particular color of your choice!

Remember you can always add neutrals to your design!

So, Is your Birthday challenge going to be with or without toppings?

It’s your choice!

Hope to see you there!

Here is a link to get you started!

Seize the Birthday!

And my wonderful Team mates!

We had 172 participants last time…I wonder if we can ” Top” that?

Bahhahahhahahah

I am also linking this up to our sister blog…Seize the Sketch

STS-#3_01

That’s where I started my layout for my card!  I think I may

have gotten a little carried away with my flowers.

Loved the Sketch though!

Happy Birthday Chick!

Hello Friends,

It’s time again for another Seize the Birthday challenge!

We had a great time on our first challenge with the new Design Team

and had over 125 participants!!

Isn’t that AMAZING!!!!

I thought it was time to shake things up a little and make something

different ( at least different for me) and a little fun.

This is a tri-fold card, and this is what the inside looks like!

I always leave my inside’s blank till I’m ready to send it!

DUH…..I am sure most of us do…LOL!

IMG_0018

The supplies are mostly Stampin Up… including the paper, embossing folder, and card stock.

The letter’s were made with an alphabet set that is a must have!

Punches: scalloped border and circle

I kind of regret making the final chick that I put on the top!

I just free handed it with scissors.

Don’t think it was necessary now though…..Oh well!

Thanks so much for checking in on me…I Soooooo appreciate it!

Please head on over to STB and see what my Talented Team Mates are up to!

Here are the links to get you started!  I sure hope you will join us!

It’s so simple, all you have to do is keep it a Birthday theme!

Maybe we can even beat last week’s count!!!
