The Color Hues Design Team

I am here today and also over at Color Hues to share with you the ladies of the Design Team! I am so excited to be working with the ladies above.  Two I am working with presently on other Design Teams, another two I have worked with previously, but the remaining ladies are for the very first time!  I love reaching out to other card makers that inspire me and spreading joy, all while making new friends!  I have Vicki Dutcher to thank for giving me my first DT gig many, many years ago. Thanks Vicki I owe you a great deal of gratitude!

Head on over to Color Hues for a little bit more information about the team along with links to their blogs!

Remember, our First challenge starts on September 1st at 9AM EST. I am super excited about that! I thought this day would never get here!

Exciting Announcement!

Hi Friends,  I am over the moon excited to share my news with all of you!  It has been really hard keeping this a secret for so long. I have always wanted to start my very own Color Challenge and I finally did it! EEKKKKKK! I always told myself to wait until I retired when I would have more time on my hands. But in fact, I had this in the works a few months before I chose to retire since I was home so much during these crazy uncertain times, I figured why not start it now. So I guess I have the Pandemic to thank for having something good to have come from it!  I love it when things work out as they should.

I would be amiss to not say THANK YOU to you, my followers, because without you I may not have even attempted to try something like this. I know I run Seize the Birthday rather successfully, but I didn’t build it from scratch.  I actually took it over many years ago from Lesley Croghan. I heard that as she was going to close it down and I didn’t want that to happen so I asked her if I could have it.  I am so glad she said yes!  I have enjoyed Seize the Birthday and Just Us Girls (where I am a DT member) immensely and have no plans to stop being a part of either one of those teams.  Many of you have been part of my journey since day one (back in 2008). I will always be grateful for the friends I have made along this journey and blessed with the ones I have been lucky enough to meet in person.  My list is surely growing with those I wish to still meet one day, once it is safe to travel again!  As for my new team,  I wish I could have asked each and every one of you to join me on this journey but that just wasn’t possible!  However, I do hope you will support me and play along when you have time.

Please head on over to my NEW challenge Color Hues and check out all the details.

Thanks again for everything I am very grateful!

Spotlighting

DSC_0051

Screen Shot 2016-04-30 at 2.34.35 PMHello Friends,  I am hosting a fun Trend Challenge this week at Just Us Girls!  The trend we are doing is called the spotlighting technique!  If you have not heard of it, I have linked up ONE of the many ways this technique can be done HERE!  I had such a good time making this card, I am really starting to enjoy coloring as it is so very relaxing. I am also glad I finally decided to ink up this beautiful stamp that I have had for quite sometime, but had been sitting on the shelf intimidating me. LOL

This stamp is from Northwood Rubber Stamps and is very large. I picked it up at a Stamp Store in Lakeland. I used Prisma colored pencils as my medium of choice!  I didn’t put a sentiment on this card as of yet, as I wanted it to be available to me if I needed it for a special occasion! There is another shot of my card below, and I sure hope you won’t let this technique scare you away and you will join us at JUGS!  You have to at least come on by and see all the fabulous cards from the Designers and our guest Cornelia!

Make Your Mark badgeI am also linking this card up over at Addicted to Stamps and More where their challenge is to make your mark.

Take care,  Nanc’

Project Time…

Number 2

Hello Friends,

Hope your having a great day!

This is my second post today so please scroll down if your looking for Just Us Girls!

Over at Stamp TV they have a Guest Designer search and this time they are

asking us to…

Make anything BUT a regular, flat greeting card.

It can be a unique card: like a pop up card, a gift card holder,

a tent topper, or it can be an altered item!

I chose to make a gift basket using one of my all time

favorite Gina K design sets called Hugs and Prayers

(It’s retired by the way…sorry)

and combined it with GKD sentiment from A Little Something stamp set.

I came across this great basket using nestabilities from the talented

Debbie Olson.  Of course mine doesn’t look half as good as hers

and I used a different nesty shape then the one she has pictured.

Then, I realized after I had adhered my panels that I forgot to add

the ribbon underneath.  Next time!

I also wanted to make my own 3-d flower using a Stampin Up flower blossom punch.

I watched this video here!

I have a few more photos for you so that you can see the process

along with different views.

collage

I leaned it back a little for better lighting!IMG_0018

I have linked up Debbie Olson’s blog for you above so that you may see a real work

of ART.  The only dimensions that I changed was for my handle.

My handle is 3/4 wide by 12 inches long.

The paper is from Stampin UP.

I used one of my favorite stems from My Favorite Things.

Used lots of dimensionals too!

Let me know if you have any questions and I hope you

have a wonderful day…thanks for stopping by!

The weather is gorgeous here…going to head outside.

If your not a toppings kinda person, well…..you can just

stick with our usual “Anything Goes”Birthday!

 The choice is yours!

I thought it was way past time for me to get out my colored chalk!

IMG_0001

The flowers are Stampin Up- Flower Shop and the sentiment is from Verve- Take Note.

I used a q-tip to do my coloring.  The dark paper looks blue, but is actually purple.

The scrap DP I have had for about 10 years, I throw no scraps away..LOL

so I am not sure who’s it is….sorry! :/

I put some stickles on the centers of the flowers, but should have left

well enough alone!

Please come on over to Seize the Birthday and join us, and while your there

CAS(E) Sketch #46

I have been eyeing this sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch for days!

This cute little turtle has been staring at me for over 4 months on

my desk…already colored mind you!  He has been saying,

“What are you waiting for lady?”

The coloring isn’t my best that is for sure, and I

have no idea which pens I would use to fix him…because it’s been so long!

So….as is he stays!!

Not sure if you can tell by the photo, but I used my spellbinders and cut

out the shape in the front of the card stock and then adhered the image on the

inside of the card.  Then decided it was to plain so I added some stars!

The image is from Bugaboo stamps!

I used my spectrum Noir Pens to color him!

Have a wonderful day!

Verve-Tic Tac Toe…Diva Dare

Hello Friends,

I have been eyeing this Verve Challenge

for over a week now…and snuck away to the

studio this afternoon and my ideas came

together beautifully!

I LOVE when that happens!

 I got out my most

favorite Verve Stamp set called…You and I

and this is what I did!

IMG_0001

DivaDareNoFrame150_LOGO

This is what the challenge is all about…..

So what we’re daring you to create this month is a card

or project using inspiration from a tic-tac-toe board.

For example:  x’s and o’s, hugs & kisses, squares, circles, grids, you get the idea.

The challenge doesn’t end till the 25th

so there is still time to play along!

If you don’t have any Verve Stamps….I HIGHLY recommend them

they have so many to choose from and the quality is

some of the best I have found!

I have the challenge and the store all linked up for you!

Here are some of my card details!

Cardstock: SU and Black-Scraps

Stamps: Verve-You and I

Tools: Cuttlebug, Cricut, MS border punch,

MFT- Button die cut,

SU-Sanding block and distresser

Acc: Hemp, doily and brads

Happy creating,

Nanc’

Who doesn’t love Sunflowers?

Happy Monday….LOL!

Today I am thrilled to share with you a card I was dabbling with on and off

all weekend.  Yes, it took me most of the weekend to finally get it to come

together the way I had envisioned.  LOL

The creative process began when I saw this week’s Dynamic Duos colors along with

a gorgeous Inspiration Photo….over at Curtain Call (I love sunflowers )…and

this week’s Muse card over at Case Study.

collage

Let me show you the card and then…. “I have some explaining to do!”

( read that in a Ricky Ricardo voice from Lucy) LOL

Sunflowers

SF3

When it comes to the Dynamic Duos…I sure hope it’s okay that I added brown in my card…

I noticed some of the Design Team had done the same. (Fingers crossed)

For Curtain Call….I am right on target my card screams inspiration from the photo!

The only thing missing is some burlap!  Need some of that!

Last, but not least….for the Case Study Muse card….I used the obvious flower as my inspiration and the fence mimics the

vertical stripes that are in the sample…I realize mine aren’t bright and bold…but I hope it will suffice!

Also, the vellum piece I replaced it with the 2 cross pieces on my fence.

Now, here are a few details of how I made my card!

The background woodgrain fence is a stamp from Stampabilites.

The sunflower is a stamp I have had for years that I got at a Garage sale….LOVE it!

I used my Spectrum Noir pens to color my flowers and then fussy cut them…don’t look to close!

Finally, that cool grass…is a die cut I got from Impression Obsession….Isn’t it the coolest!

Added the hemp and some distressing and Wahla!

Thanks for sticking with me, this was a long post, I so appreciate it!!!

Have a fantastic day!
