Sending Hugs

I have a quick card for you today using some of the fun DSP that was still laying on my desk from a previous card. I wanted to take some time to play along with a challenge this week and I chose the Tic Tac Toe Challenge. I have selected the row of Die Cut, Patterned Paper, and Green. I was originally shooting for the row that included pastel, but then I picked the wrong color green for my stem and was very delighted to see my card still worked in another direction.

If you saw the condition of my house right now, you would be shocked to see me making a post. I decided to hire someone to paint a few rooms since hubby doesn’t want to do it anymore. OMG!!! What was I thinking! I am convinced I am crazy! Plus to add insult to injury, the room I put all of the stuff from the closets in has to be cleaned out by Friday so the window company can finish the job from 6 months ago. Don’t even get me started on that ordeal! Hopefully hubby and I are still on speaking terms when this is over. LOL

Card Details: Peony stencil is from Altenew and the tab die is an oldie from MFT. Sending hugs is from Altenew as well.

I hope you find something to do today that brings you joy, Nanc’

Hope…

Hello, I am back today as it is the middle of the month and time for the next Hues of Color at Color Hues. Julie has picked the most amazing color combo that I have just discovered I am a huge fan of. Turquoise and Coral! Talk about a striking pairing. And wait till you see the cards that the Design Team and our guest put together! They are all Amazing!! Speaking of Guest, we have a good friend of mine Linda Snodgrass joining us this time at CH. Welcome Linda! We are really happy to have you!

My card was made for and already received by my Brother in Law after he had major back surgery! I am happy to report he is doing well and nearly out of pain.

I am also going to join in the fun over at Happy Little Stampers-Anything Goes with Dies.

Card Details: The sentiment is from Altenew- Mega 4 Greetings, The seashells are from Honey Bee Stamps-Flippin Fabulous, and the leaves are inked and splattered and from Stampin Up-Tropical Thinlits. I used Oxide inks to blend my background. I used Prismas and light Copics to color.

Now, run on over to Color Hues and be ready to be dazzled! Stay safe, Nanc’

Crafty Friends

Hi, I have some more love-themed cards to share with you today and I will also be entering these cards up over at Happy Little Stampers blog where I am determined to play along more often. So much inspiration over there. They have so many various challenges to play along with that you must check out. The one I am playing along with is Anything Goes with Dies.

Here are a few other cards I made in various colors.

Card Details: This is the stamp set I used from Altenew to make my background. Thank goodness for my Misti as it made it so much easier. I linked it up for you above. It is a must-have as far as crafters are concerned IMO.

The sweet little bear is from Ellen Hutson and her sweet bow to turn her into a girl bear is from Paper Smooches. A little chalk to pink up her cheeks and just some real quick outline coloring to give the bear a little life.

Personal: This past week has been filled with one bad news after another. Last Monday was the sudden loss of a dear friend’s hubby and a man my hubby and I have known and hubby worked with nearly his entire career. He collapsed while playing tennis. His wife takes comfort in knowing he didn’t suffer and died doing what he loved. I have another dear friend whose hubby had serious neck surgery this week and is going to have a long road to recovery. The surgery was intense, and I pray it did what it was supposed to do and he will be back to life as he knew it real soon. We have another friend/past principal and coworker for Dave and I on a ventilator due to Covid and fighting for his life. Then I was told a former colleague from the Elementary School where I use to work, and a man that I adore, has Bladder Cancer. Life is Hard! Then Covid makes it that much harder! I want to just stop in and give these friends the hugs and the quality time that they so rightly deserve and or need. It is hard to go about my normal day when you know others are hurting and are going through rough times. I must press on and just keep them in my thoughts and prayers and do what I can to brighten their day and or help them in any way I can. Baking always seems to be my answer too. On a positive note, my sister had a hip replacement last week and it seems to have gone well! Sorry for my long post, but sometimes we just need to write what is on our hearts.

Take care and send some cards to the people you love. After all, that is why we make them right? If you aren’t on the receiving end of one of these Galentines I am truly sorry…it has been a tough and busy week and time got away from me.

Hugs and stay well, Nanc’

Navy and Pink

Hello, I was trying to make a few cards for some upcoming challenges and it wasn’t going well yesterday, so I decided to write a post instead.  I did some water coloring a few days ago and the next day after some thought and suggestions over on IG, I turned the items into two cards instead of one.  You see, I had made two background panels and I liked them both and was trying to figure out which one to use.

I am linking the above card up over at The Flower Challenge where they have asked us to use Navy and one other color on our project. I as you have seen I chose pink.

Card Details:  Stamps are mostly Altnew with the exception of the “Wishing You Well” greeting is from Stampin Up. I used Catherine Pooler inks and some stencils to make my backgrounds.  Speaking of backgrounds…  I did a double stencil technique and it worked perfectly.  I made both a rectangle and circle stencil with some thick acetate and placed that down over my first decorative stencil. I used some washi tape to hold everything in place.  It was so much fun, I made about ten more backgrounds while I was at it in various colors and shapes.

I so appreciate you stopping in and I hope you have a lovely day, Nanc’.

I hope my mojo returns soon.

Happy Birthday-Altenew

Hello,  I wanted to make sure I had a chance to join the Paper Players challenge this week.  So last night I made a card using a stamp set from Altenew.  I still haven’t mastered this multi-step stamp set.  It’s not as easy as I thought it would be even with directions. LOL I will prevail someday!

I have stretched the sketch a bit now that I looked at it again, as my center panel is a bit too big. Oops!  I popped up a few of my flowers to cover the ones that looked terrible. The sentiment is from Gina K.

Today is the last day of school for me. This isn’t quite how I would have imagined the year would have ended, but this picture makes it a bit easier. It was taken with some of the kindergarten kids on the 100th day of school this year.  If you look closely the kids decorate their clothes with 100 of something to help celebrate.  The little boy in front of me has 100 plastic bugs on his shirt.  And in puff paint the mom wrote, I bugged my teacher 100 days this year. LOL  It is always such a fun day.  I sure hope next year starts and ends better than this one. I miss those faces so much!

I hope you have a creative day, Nanc’

With Sympathy with Painted Flowers

I stumbled upon a new to me card challenge site called Inspire Create Challenges and their theme this week is Sympathy. I love this stamp set called Painted Flowers that I got from my friend Bobby, and I hadn’t used it in a while. I knew it was going to make a great Sympathy card. The sentiment is heat-set with gold embossing powder. The center of the flowers were made with Nuvo drops. I watercolored my flowers a bit after I stamped them on watercolor paper, to try to get some shading.

I am also entering this card over at The Flower Challenge where it’s Anything Goes.

I hope you have a wonderful day, Nanc’

Handmade Hugs

Hello, It’s Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls and Sue has asked us to Splash something on our card. I went with the obvious splatter technique. But before I got to the fun part, I watercolored and used colored pencil on my Altenew flowers. I didn’t like the way the bottom of the card looked without the flower being grounded, so I added the extra strip of watercolored paper that I had trimmed off and the MS punch border.  I did a terrible job with the colored pencil and should have left the flower alone, but live and learn.  The splatters helped detour the eyes.  LOL  The sentiment is from MFT. Come check out all the different ways the team was inspired by this challenge.

Congratulations…

Hello,  Today’s card was inspired by two Challenge sites: Color Throwdown and Inkspirational where they asked us to have 3 or 5 of something. I chose to have 3 hearts on my card and I guess technically I have 3 rectangles too.  I started off stamping my Altenew image in very light ink so I could try my hand at no line watercoloring. Try is the key word! LOL When it was all said and done, the image lacked definement, so I came back with black ink and inked it again. (Poorly I might add, as I had taken it off my Misti and had to try and line it up again.)  All in all, I think it makes a nice Wedding card.

Card Details: Image-Altenew, Sentiment-SU, Scalloped rectangles and hearts-MFT, Gold embossing powder and Nuvo drops

Thanks for your visits! Nanc’
