Just Us Girls Photo Week!

Screen Shot 2014-11-11 at 4.30.44 PMHello Everyone,  I have the honor of hosting the Last Challenge of 2014 over at Just Us Girls! Can you believe that we are approaching the end of another year? Where does the time go!  It’s unbelievable isn’t it? I hope you had a wonderful Christmas…I sure did!  It went by way to fast though, but I got some really nice gifts this year from my family and am truly blessed!  Then Christmas night my father fell while walking his dog and thankfully I think he is going to be okay. He is so lucky!  He refused to go to the Hospital and be checked out when the ambulance arrived.  He has one terrible goose egg on his head.  (I do realize a head injury is nothing to mess with, however you don’t know my father) He doesn’t have a concussion and seems to be just as alert and attuned with us as before. My family and I took shifts and were waking him every two hours Christmas night. Prayers welcomed!

Since we have been in Christmas card mode for so long I thought it would be fun to lighten things up with a fun photo this week! I can’t wait to see what inspiration you take from this cute photo!  Will you be drawn to a baby theme like my fellow DT member Vicki and I were or something totally different like the rest of the Design team did?  The ladies did an amazing job!  I would also like to say thanks and Farewell to our Guest Designer Lee Ann Barrett!  We so enjoyed having you with us Lee Ann! Please keep in touch and play along again with us when you can …you are very talented!

Here are a few but not all card details: I used the Verve Christmas Stamp Set Have a Holly Jolly Christmas to create my heat embossed mobile ( from the photo) I hope they don’t look entirely like ornaments. The cute little elephant is also Verve and his name is Emery.  The sentiment banners are also Verve and is from the set So Happy.  The Dots embossing folder is Stampin Up and it’s my first time using it!  LOVE it!!  If you have any other Questions at all please ask away!  I have the Verve site linked up for you!  Now please won’t you come on over to Just Us Girls and join us in our Last Challenge of the yea?  Hope to see you there!   Nanc’

Twinkle twinkle…..

TYIC_7 The moment I saw this card on the Tag You’re It blog I was intrigued!  I absolutely loved it!  I am so glad I had a chance to play along this weekend.  After all yesterday was World Card Making Day and I had to do my part.  We had another baby born in our extended Michigan family and I wanted to make a special card for her.  Her name is Olivia Grace…isn’t that beautiful!  A lot of love and patients went into it…let me give you some of the details.  The first thing I did was embossed the white stars with embossing paste and my SU star stencil and let it dry.  Not sure if you can tell, but the yellow paper has a really cool texture.  I got it on sale for like .79 for 50 sheets. It feels like hand made paper.  Then I went to work on my tags.  The cool sentiment is from Verve and I had been wanting to get it inky for the first time and finally did!  I added both scalloped trims and some larger stars at the bottom of my SU punch tags to add some interest. The DP is from the same paper pack as my last post by DCVW Nanna’s Nursery. The tiny stars are from the inside of my new die cut from Verve, that I LOVE, and have linked up for you!  I was very meticulous where those tiny… tiny stars were placed. Once the card was all completely finished, I got the bright idea to add shimmer to the white stars.  It was tricky, but so worth it!  Not sure you can see it in the photo. So here is a close up!  The cool ribbon is also from Verve!  Added the button and all was complete!

CELEBRATE!!!

Screen Shot 2014-09-14 at 12.54.55 PMWe have a lot of things going on over at Just Us Girls this week.  First things first…..It’s World Card Making Day, so everyone get out there today and be creative!  We also have two new designers joining us today over at Just Us Girls and I would like to formally welcome them again!  Welcome Chris and Ina.  Be sure to stop by their blogs and leave them some love, won’t you!  Last, but not least our Guest Designer for the month of October is Wanda Cullen.  Welcome, Wanda!  You can also stop by over at Wanda’s blog and tell her Congrats too! The girls and I over at JUGS are glad your ALL with us today!  What a need to Celebrate! Which is a great segway into our challenge this week…..

It’s Word Week over JUGS and Sharyn has selected the word CELEBRATE…which leaves things wide open.  Great choice Sharyn!  I needed a Congrats on the new baby card for a co-worker and thought that is definitely a cause to Celebrate so that worked out perfectly for me!  Love when that happens!   I have been wanting to make these cute little outfits using my Stampin UP Owl Punch and finally did!  Love how this card came out!.  The trickiest part was making the little straps and buttons.  My ribbon came out kinda flat on the one side of my clothes line, but what you gonna’ do!  The DP is from DCVW Nanna’s Nursery pack.  It’s got some adorable papers in it!  The sentiment is from Gina K Designs. I have some pop dots under the outfits and sentiment to give some dimension.

Tall and Skinny….

Hello there friends,

It’s the 5th Saturday of the month so it’s Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls!

Marisa has picked out a great idea for us this time!

My Niece just had a baby and I needed to get a card out to her ASAP so

I decided to incorporate my baby card into this challenge!

Here is what I did!

I wanted to personalize the card and use her beautiful name Amelia on it!

Also, I adore this elephant stamp from Verve so I had to use him as well.

The Sentiment and the dotted label is from Stamp TV!

It seems like when Spring rolls around I am always in need of Baby Shower gifts.

Most of the time I like to give my expectant mothers a gift card,

so that they may purchase what they want and

the dad can be a part of picking out something for his new baby as well.

Don’t you think those poor dads get left out sometimes?

So that is how this Gift-card holder came to be.

It is on it’s way to Michigan for my nephew’s wife’s baby shower!

I left out the Walmart Gift-card itself for the photo because it

was blue and didn’t match my card.

I couldn’t believe they had no pink gift cards!

CAS(E) this Sketch

Happy Monday friends,

The card I have for you today is for the CAS sketch challenge over at CAS(E) this Sketch.  I am becoming a huge fan of the site!  However, my card started off pretty clean and simple, but I may have gotten carried away when I added the flowers and bling.  When I finish a card I always stare at it for a minute or two and make sure it’s balanced.  Either my hubby taught me this or I learned it back in my Art classes in middle school. On your work or finished product….Your eye should bounce from corner to corner to make a triangle and then the “Art Piece” so to speak has balance.  Well this one didn’t meet that criteria so that’s when I added the flowers and bling.  So if it is not CAS enough for you all over at CAS(E) I understand completely !!!!!  Don’t judge me on my coloring either…I did this baby stroller about a year ago with my prisma colored pencils and I think my coloring has improved since then.  Also, a dear friend of mine gave me some Spectrum Noir pens this past weekend and I am so excited to learn how to use them!!!   I have been checking out videos and tutorials on the web and I think I am almost ready to take the plunge.  So the next thing I post on here that has an image on it …. will hopefully be colored with my Noir pens!  I can’t thank her enough for her generosity!  Not only did she give me a mess load of pens…she also gave me some other goodies….like these Prima sentiment stamps I used on this card!  Love them and her!

Tuesday Morning Sketches and Monogram Challenge

I have a new card for you today and a brand new blog I stumbled upon with a great sketch challenge!  The new blog is called Tuesday Morning and I am happy to have found them as I was blog surfing!  There is so much talent on the web and I love seeing what I can stumble across!  I hope to play with them again!  Also, this Baby card is the last monogram card I made for my challenge over at Stamp TV.  I absolutely love the way this card came together.  I made it for my co-worker and it just so happens that I gave it to her today!  She loved it!

Oh Baby…

Happy weekend!  My cute little bunny card is for a Casing Challenge over at Stamp Tv. As I tell my students at school when they tell me he or she is copying me, I always tell them you should take it as a compliment because that means they like your work or ideas. This is no exception! Emily has a fabulous gallery to choose from, the toughest part was to figure out which card to case.

My Thanksgiving is off to a great early start, my son is home from college already!
