Here’s to Fun in the Sun

Hello, I hope your week is treating you well. It’s the middle of the month so it’s time for our next Hues of Color at Color Hues. Marcia is our wonderful hostess and she has chosen Blue and Turquoise for us today. I have been itching to get out some of my favorite MFT sets and I was in the need of a House warming card, so that is what I have for you today. My Brother and Sister in Law bought a home here in Florida and are officially going to be snowbirds, and this card is for them.

Card Details: MFT-Beach Bungalow, MFT-Shady Palm, MFT-Life’s a Beach Sentiment. Oxide inks for my scene and a bit of Copics and Prisma Colored Pencils. I used a bit of white paint splatter as well.

Now, I certainly hope you will head on over to Color Hues and check out the cards by our fabulous team and join us. Don’t get hung up on finding the perfect Turquoise, as it’s pretty subjective-just do the best you can.

Speaking of Color Hues-DT…This past Tuesday my friend Carol and I got to meet up with CH-DT Member Karen Walker as she was vacationing in my neck of the woods. I love meeting up with teammates it’s one of the many things about this hobby that I love so much! We had a wonderful lunch and great conversation! So happy you escaped the cold and came to Florida, Karen!

Take care and make sure you find time to be creative as it’s good for the soul, Nanc’

Life’s a Beach

Hello, I am back today with a card for the latest board over at Tic Tac Toe. My card goes with the center row of Die Cuts, Free and Bright Colors. I had the bright blue and yellow pieces left over from a card I posted a month or so ago sitting on my desk and I didn’t want them to go to waste. I made them using the smooshing technique on watercolored paper.

Card Details: The background was made with the smooshing technique and inks on watercolored paper. The palm, penguin, and sentiment are from MFT. I used foam tape to pop up the center of the card for some added interest. I colored with Copics. I also used white paint for a bit of splatter. The small postal die is from Hero Arts.

I hope however you choose to spend your day, it’s a good one! Nanc’

Beach Weather and Some New Designers!

DSC_0090

STB ToppingsHello Friends,  Hope you are having a wonderful day! It’s Spring Break for me and it is certainly Beach Weather as my title announced!  Today over at Seize the Birthday we have a perfect “Topping” for this time of year, the topping is “Water.”  The first thing I thought of when it was time to get crafty, was the beach.  So I got out my watercolor brush and my new stamp set from Kitchen Sink Stamps and went to work.   Living in Florida, I knew I would love this set and would be able to get lots of use out of it.  It’s a 3 step stamp set, so I need a bit more practice but am still happy with my first time results. Not only does it have terrific palm trees, it even comes with tiny footprints in 3 different sizes too.  They are so cute! The sentiment is from Verve. I thought it would be fun to cut out the center and pop it up with some foam.  My friend Judy taught me that trick and I am forever grateful! Plus that stuff is cheap too!

Now I have the pleasure of welcoming two new designers to the Seize the Birthday Team and I am super excited about it!  The first designer is Vicki Dutcher, whom I am sure you all have heard of, as she has been stamping for years and years and puts out fabulous cards one right after another. I also have the pleasure of working alongside Vicki on my Just Us Girls team as well.  We do a lot of behind the scenes work together and we make a good pair!  The Second DT member is a good friend of mine Barbara Campbell.  Not only is Barb extremely talented she is my Birthday Sister to boot!  We met over this great world of the “Blogishpere” and have had the pleasure to meet in person twice too!  I appreciate her taking the time to meet me more than she realizes! I am thrilled that both these ladies agreed to join my already fabulous team over at Seize the Birthday!  WELCOME Barb and Vicki!

Before I go I would also like to thank Jacquie Southas for being a wonderful Surprise Party Guest over at STB the past two months!  Thanks for all your wonderful cards Jacquie and hope to see you in the gallery of ours from time to time!

Okay I think that about does it…thanks for sticking with me!  Have an awesome day and PLEASE come on over to STB and join us and leave some love for the new members as well!  Take care, Nanc’

Hello friends, Happy Saturday to you and yours!  Over at Just Us Girls this week it’s word week and boy do we have an easy one for you!  The word is Twine!  I told you it was simple, and any color will do fine!  Today’s card was made with some new products I purchased quite a while ago, but was waiting for the perfect time to use them, and this was the week.  Do you do that? Hold off using a new item till you have the perfect idea?  Or am I just weird?  Don’t answer that!  The stamp and sentiment is from….I have no idea..sorry.  There is not indication anywhere on the stamps. 😦  The sun die cut is from Lawn Fawn. I didn’t put ink on the word day at the end of the sentiment on the card above, as I want to make this card a retirement card for a dear co-worker. On the above card I used watercolors to color my images. The sun is made out of textured handmade paper that I got from DCVW.

The second card was colored with colored pencil.  Finally the last one was colored with Spectra Noir pens.  I know I kind of got carried away and made 3!  LOL I decided I liked using the watercolors the best for this image. The last card was not intended to be tilted however when I cut out my square opening it came out kinda of crooked so I decided the entire card was going to be wonky. Excuse my hand, but I wanted to photograph the card shut so that you could see that the sentiment is on the inside of the card.  The glitter I know doesn’t look like glitter, but I promise that is what the bottle says, I think it’s just that old that it stuck together and looks like sand now..LOL

Please come on over to Just Us Girls and join us, and while your there please welcome our Guest Designer for the month of May Tenia from Jazzy Paper Designs.  Welcome Tenia!  I am also going to link up my card over at the Pink Elephant!   Until next time….take care! Nanc’

Missing warmer weather!

Today is absolutely gorgeous here in sunny Florida, but according to the weather report another cold front is headed our way!  So I decided since I can’t get away from the cold weather, I would scrap some photos of warmer weather.  These photos were taken in late September of 06′.

Hope you have a great week!

Remember to take time to scrap your heart,
