What’s Shakin???

Happy Weekend,

First of all …Whatcha think of my new Blog Header?

I LOVE it!  I have to give all the credit to my wonderful son Ty!

I thought it was time for a change and he has some great Photo Shop skills

and last night he whipped this up for me in no time…he has some

more things he wants to add to it…but I love it just the way it is!

Love you Ty!!!!

Onto the real reason your here!

Over at Just Us Girls this week Lisa is shakin’ things up!

Have you ever made a Shaker Card?  I have NOT!

I so enjoyed this challenge and as I told Lisa and the girls earlier,

my first shaker crashed and burned!  I had the bright idea to use

saw dust instead of sand because I didn’t have enough time to

go get any ( yes I know, I live in Florida and didn’t use sand). LOL

The saw dust looked just like fine sand…really!   Anyhoo, The sawdust was so fine and

I didn’t leave enough of a gap between the shaker and the image so my cute little penguin

was camouflaged….you couldn’t even see her.  I tried again and followed the

directions from This Tutorial to a tee…and used glitter instead and it worked like a charm!

FYI…….sawdust doesn’t work for sand!

I love the way this card came together….perseverance is the Key!

The waves were made with my Creative Memories cutting system and

the sun I just eyeballed with a small paper cutter and a little Tim Holtz distress ink!

Coloring was done with colored pencil.

Add a little torn paper for some sand and there you have it!

I am also adding this card to the Case Study Challenge this week.

This fabulous photo is what helped me get the idea for my sun!

Now it’t time to go check out what the other Girls have shakin up!

Have a great day!

Hip Hip Hooray….summer is on it’s way!

This card was tough to put together….it was just one of those days when nothing you tried quite worked exactly liked you had planned.

I found myself taping and glueing and then taking it apart, ripping it and then trying to do it again…with the same results!

I am sure you have had one of those days before….at least I hope so!

I almost tossed the entire card, but refrained so here it is!

Don’t look to closely….major flaws everywhere!

Beach Ball was made by hand!  Boy was it tough cutting out that Bikini top! LOL

This card, as unsatisfied as I may be with it…. is still going to be linked up over at Fusion this week!

I decided to Fuse the challenge this week!

Although, I may have no flowers on my card…I went with the color scheme…along with the Sketch!

If you haven’t heard of this site…I highly recommend it!

So unique and fresh and loaded with talent…

both by the Design Team and the players!

JUGS Color Challenge and a Birthday Shout Out!

Jugs Challenge and A Special Happy Birthday

Good Day Crafty Friends!

This week’s Color Challenge over at JUGS is

hosted by the talented Marisa.

She has picked out a great color palette for us to work with!

JUGS185

It seems like when Spring rolls around I am always in need of Baby Shower gifts.

Most of the time I like to give my expectant mothers a gift card,

so that they may purchase what they want and

the dad can be a part of picking out something for his new baby as well.

Don’t you think those poor dads get left out sometimes?

So that is how this Gift-card holder came to be.

IMG_0017

It is on it’s way to Michigan for my nephew’s wife’s baby shower!

I left out the Walmart Gift-card itself for the photo because it

was blue and didn’t match my card.

I couldn’t believe they had no pink gift cards!

Here is a peek at the inside of the card.

My Birthday Shout Out goes to a fellow JUGS  Design Team member Lisa!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!

Hope it’s one of the best one’s ever!!!

Here is a card I made in honor of your birthday!

IMG_0022

This card really needs no explanation….the sentiment is from Close to My Heart and the balloons were

made using either a circle punch or my Creative Memories circle cutter… adhered with some pop dots!

They look like they are floating…don’t they?

So…..

The rest of the JUGS team has some wonderful samples to get your inspiration going,

so just hop on over to the Just Us Girls blog, and check out what the Design Team has created.

Then put your creative genes to work and add your card/project to the challenge post on the

JUGS blog for the chance to be selected as Chic of the Week.

CAS(E) this Sketch

Happy Monday friends,

The card I have for you today is for the CAS sketch challenge over at CAS(E) this Sketch.  I am becoming a huge fan of the site!  However, my card started off pretty clean and simple, but I may have gotten carried away when I added the flowers and bling.  When I finish a card I always stare at it for a minute or two and make sure it’s balanced.  Either my hubby taught me this or I learned it back in my Art classes in middle school. On your work or finished product….Your eye should bounce from corner to corner to make a triangle and then the “Art Piece” so to speak has balance.  Well this one didn’t meet that criteria so that’s when I added the flowers and bling.  So if it is not CAS enough for you all over at CAS(E) I understand completely !!!!!  Don’t judge me on my coloring either…I did this baby stroller about a year ago with my prisma colored pencils and I think my coloring has improved since then.  Also, a dear friend of mine gave me some Spectrum Noir pens this past weekend and I am so excited to learn how to use them!!!   I have been checking out videos and tutorials on the web and I think I am almost ready to take the plunge.  So the next thing I post on here that has an image on it …. will hopefully be colored with my Noir pens!  I can’t thank her enough for her generosity!  Not only did she give me a mess load of pens…she also gave me some other goodies….like these Prima sentiment stamps I used on this card!  Love them and her!

Here is my card~ Be kind! 🙂

Time for a little love…

I stashed away inside my studio this afternoon and made this card for the sketch challenge over at Freshly Made.  Again I am getting this one in under the wire. Whew!!!  You would think a simple card like this would have taken about 20 minutes…well…let me just say that it was way longer than that, and this isn’t quite how it started out.  A few mistakes are what would you say….hidden.  LOL  Please tell me you hide your mistakes too?  And very often!   All in all, even though this design was not my complete intention…I am happy with it!

Cardstock: Stampin Up

Stamps: I love you- Michael’s

Script- Stampolicious (From a stampin expo)

Have a great start to your work week friends,

For the love of the game…

Happy weekend,  I have a family of 3 boys at my school who for a lack of a better word need some male guidance in there life.  They are typical boys that are involved in sports and love the game!  The only positive male influence they have is their grandpa. He unfortunately passed away last weekend.  He was the type of Grandpa that didn’t miss one of their ball games and was always there cheering them on.  So a co-worker and I got together and decided to do something nice for the boys.  These are the cards I made for them.

DSCN4811

Here is what I put in the insides.

I didn’t have the perfect sentiment for a 1st , 3rd and 4th grader so I typed something on the computer.

If you keep the love of Baseball in your heart, your Grandpa will always be a special part.

For the love of the game of Baseball and for Grandpa….play on!

Shoot for the stars and your Grandpa’s memory will carry on!

The paper I happen to have had and it’s from Creative Memories and is probably 12 years old.

The rest I made with scrap paper along with a SU corner punch and my circle cutter also from CM.

Another reminder to enjoy each day as a miracle!

Take care and thanks for checkin’ in!

Snowmen are so cool!

DSCN4552

pp124ISSC44I have always been very fond of snowmen.  My Christmas tree is covered with them in one ornament form or another.  Ornaments are “BIG” in this household.  We spend more time finding the perfect ornament for one another than we do on presents themselves.  Each and every ornament is in it’s own box and is marked with the year we received it and who it was from, and every year we open them all together and reflect on how special they are to us.  It’s the first thing on the hurricane evacuation list. ( That’s Snow joke)  HAHAHAHA!!!  Okay onto the card!  This card was made for The Paper Players Snowmen Challenge and a chance to be a Guest Designer. That would be an awesome present this Christmas! ( Wish me luck!)  I paired it up with this awesome sketch over at iSpy Sketches.  The DT over there made some amazing cards this week and Christyne Kane was the key to the design of my card.

The snowmen stamp himself is from a friend…isn’t he so cute.  The paper is a mostly Creative Memories and Stampin Up.  The card base is Gina K card stock from Stamp TV.  I colored the little guy with Prisma Colored Pencils and while it was in the nestie I went around and outlined it with my pencil to frame it in.  I ran the snowflakes that I cut out with my cricut through my cuttlebug using my snowflakes folder.  Added some rhinestones and a bow to finish it off!

Thanks for stopping by I “Snow” Love when you do!  Okay, I am done being corny!

Have an amazing day!

Sometimes the smallest things…..

Sometimes the smallest thing take up the Most room in your Heart…by Winnie the Pooh.  Love the phrase and if you love it too you can pick it up at the Verve Store.  This card was made with this great sketch in mind from Freshly Made Sketches and it’s also for the theme challenge over at The Paper Players.  They asked us to “Give Thanks.”  They also said the sky is the limit on this one and we can interpret the theme anyway we like.  On the inside of my card I have posted… Thanks from the bottom of my heart.  So it fits to a tee!

Paper is from either CM, SU along with scrap

Used my Cricut for the heart along with an embossing folder,Spellbinders is called Picot Circles, MS punch

Accessories:  Buttons,lace and gems

Have a fantastic week friends,

I Miss You Like Crazy…

I made this card this afternoon after I completed the usual Saturday chores.  Love when you get and idea and things come together!  I am going to enter it into three different challenges.  First, the sketch challenge over at iSpy Sketches and Secondly, the color challenge over at CR84FN. And Last its for the Any Hero Challenge over at OWH.  If you are not familiar with OWH…go check it out!  It’s an amazing way to say Thanks to the Troops!!  Let me tell you a little bit about how it came together.  Once I picked out the DP (Creative Memories) and the colored card stock which is a mix of CM, SU and Bazzil I took my star stamp from SU and stamped on the tan card stock.  Then I added some distressing with SU Chocolate Ink. Used my Cricut to cut out most of my stars along with a SU scalloped punch. Made the ribbons with scissors and the sentiment is from Verve and is called Heartfelt Phrases. The tag die cut is from My Favorite Things.

Finished it off with a button and some twine and Wolaaaa!

Hope you have a great Sunday…It’s time to watch some Football…GO FSU!!!!

Some details:  The cardstock and DP is mostly Creative Memories, the Happy Halloween I made with some letter stamps I have had for a long time.

Used my Scallop Nestabilities from GKD… add some MS punch leaves and some twine and some black ink for added effects and there you have it!
