Inked Die Cuts

IMG_0002

Hi Friends,

Over at Just Us Girls today Sue V has challenged us to a great Technique.

Screen Shot 2014-01-24 at 7.30.30 PM

It’s called Inked Die Cuts and you can find a helpful video right HERE!

Isn’t her card wonderful!!!

If you just can’t get the hang of it, she is offering an alternate technique,

to sponge ink on the die cut while it is still in the die to shade around

your image or sentiment and give you a clean white/light border.

So are you up for the challenge?

I kept it clean and simple this week, but really enjoyed trying something new!

I used a Colorbox pigment ink called Treasure to ink up my spellbinders oval die.

I had to give it a second go around as I had ink everywhere

but on the die the first time around.  LOL

The heart EF is from Stampin UP.

The sentiment and arrow is from Michaels.

Now here are the links to get you started!

And don’t forget to visit Melissa….our Guest Designers blog too!

Merry Monday

MM GD

Hi Friends,

It’s  a Merry Monday indeed!

I am thrilled to be a Guest Designer this week over at Merry Monday!

A huge THANKS to Lesley and Bonnie for this opportunity!

Look at this Great Inpspiration photo that we had to work with this week!

Screen Shot 2014-02-02 at 4.48.48 PM

The requirement is to use a stocking and or stockings on your card.

My card was inspired by the colors, the stripes on the stockings,

and the holly berries that are peeking out of one of them.

The sentiment is from VERVE …the Holly Jolly Christmas set.

The stocking is a pattern that I have had that I shrunk down just a tad

and cut out with scissors.

The holly leaves are a die cut from my school. (Shhhhhh)

The berries are a hole punch.

The EF is called Square Lattice from SU.

Lots of distressing and some hemp and that about does it.

Please won’t you come on over to Merry Monday and

Join the talent team and I this week?

We would love it if you would!!!

Find time to be creative it’s good for the soul,

Here is a little info on my card!

The heart shape was cut out with my Creative Memories cutter.

The sentiment is something I picked up at Michaels or a local store.

The Dp is my new Valentines pack of Recollections paper. LOVE IT!

I stamped my tic tac toe letters and then shaded them in with colored pencil.

I also lightly shaded around the perimeter of my heart.

The heart embossing folder is from Stampin Up…LOVE IT TOO!

I distressed the edges of the papers, punched out a heart

and added the flowers, the gems and dotted ribbon!

Please come by Just Us Girls and join us this week!

Chevrons/ Sketches and Birthdays

Hi Friends…Hope you are surviving the winter blast!  My son

goes to college at FSU and they actually called school for a Snow Day yesterday!

He was so thrilled!  But by the weekend we will be bak in the high 70’s.

Anyways,  Today over at Seize the Birthday our toppings option is…

“Chevrons”

Just remember to keep it a Birthday Theme!

If your not a toppings kinda person, well…..you can just

stick with our usual “Anything Goes”Birthday!

 The choice is yours!

IMG_0004I combined our challenge with this fabulous sketch over at Viva la Verve.

Right when I saw it I knew I didn’t want to miss it!

VLVJan14Week4Sketch

Card Details:

The DP is some of my all time favorite!  I received it at a Stamp Expo

in a surprise gift bag and I absolutely use it ever so sparingly because I like it so much!

The stamps are both from Verve: Plain Jane/ flower and the sentiment is from Poppy Birthday.

The chevron embossing folder is also Stampin Up.

Used a punch to make my leaves and fussy cut 2 sets of flowers

to give it some dimension on pop dots.

Hope you have a fantastic day and please join us at Seize the Birthday!

We would love it if you would!

Stamp TV Sketch Challenge

Hi…I have a quick post that I almost forgot to get up in time!

Over at Stamp TV, they have this great sketch challenge that ends today at 8!

I really loved this sketch and will use it again I am sure!!

I made this card yesterday for a dear co-worker that turned 60 today!

IMG_0017

The card stock is a mixture of Stampin Up, K & Company and scraps.

The Sentiment is for Inspiration Mosaic from Gina K and the

label that the 60 is in is also Gina K called Lovely Labels 1.

The center of the flower and the stem die is from My Favorite Things.

Used a Victoria Cuttlebug embossing folder and my Cricut to cut out the 60.

Hope you have a great day!

JUGS time…

Hi Friends,

Here is this week’s challenge over at Just Us Girls hosted by my good friend

and teammate Sharyn!

Screen Shot 2013-12-28 at 2.50.27 PM

Here is what I did with the challenge!

IMG_0004

I thought it was time to use one of my favorite stamp sets again by Verve,

it’s called Poppy Birthday.  I paired it up with this great jar stamp that I picked up at a local craft store!

The flowers were stamped many times using three different papers, fussy cut,

pieced back together, and then raised with some Stampin Up pop dots.

I originally stamped my jar directly on the red paper using black ink, but when it came time

to adding the flower stems, it just didn’t look quite right.  So, I broke out my vellum

again and made my jar see through like I have done in the past.  Love that look!

The jar is also heat embossed with white embossing powder.

The arrow stamp is something I picked up at Michaels.

I ran my leaves through my Cuttelbug using the Lattice folder.

That pretty much sums up most of my design!

Remember that our Chics of the Week have the chance to be a Guest Designer,

so the more you play the more chances you have to be a JUGs Guest Designer!

Here are the links to help get you started!

Have a wonderful day and find time to be creative….it’s good for the soul,

Nanc’

Another Merry Monday….

MM

This is what I did last night as I was waiting patiently for my son to come home from college.

MM New Look Sketches-018

I saw the colors that Lesley chose over at the Merry Monday Challenge and I knew I wanted to play along again.

I don’t usually make many Christmas Cards, because for the past 26 years that has been my husband’s job.

A job that he loves…BTW.  He is an artist for those of you that don’t know him and before I met him he

was making his own Christmas cards, and that tradition has continued.  We give out about 175+ cards each year.

That number is not a joke…I promise!  After Christmas I will make a post of a couple of my favorites!

Anyhoo, so this many Christmas cards is unusual for me, but I am really enjoying it!

Here are a few card details:

I used Swiss Dots and Victoria Cuttlebug Embossing folders.

The snowflake punch is MS.

Not overly happy with my ribbon, but wanted to tie in the brown from my pearls.

The very cool ornament shape is an Ellison Die from my school. Love it!

I am sure your tired of my Merry Christmas sentiment form Gina K…but it works well every time!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am so Thankful for each and everyone of you, you make me smile each and every day!

Breast Cancer Month and My Mom

IMG_0001

( my photos are still not coming out great…UGH!!! )

Today over at CAS on Sunday we have a great Sketch for you to try!

CAS

In Honor of October being Breast Cancer month….I decided it was

time to make a card in honor of my mother.  Who in fact

had beaten breast cancer earlier in her life, but unfortunately passed away from a ovarian cancer

later in life.  She died at the age of 62, far to young!

IMG_0707

Isn’t she beautiful?  This photo was taken right before she was married.

I miss her as much today as I did 20 years ago.

I am going to send this card to a friend who is battling this horrific disease right now!

I hope it helps in some small way!

We have a sponsor and a great prize that is up for grabs over at

CAS on Sunday!

I hope you come on over and join us…we would love to have you!

Card details:

Here is a photo of what I did to make the word hope.

IMG_0002

I took various strips of pink and glued them down on a pink piece of paper

and then cut it out using my Cuttlebug.

Love this look!

The die cuts used for this card are from Paper Smooches.

The banner die at the bottom is from Verve.

I used Sizzix Framelits from SU for my shape and raised

the panel up with pop dots.

Thanks so much for stopping by…..I love when you do it really makes my day!

HUGS
