Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge

Hi Friends,  I have another Christmas card for you today. I have had this poinsettia from Heartfelt Creations laying on my desk all glittered up for weeks and I finally got around to putting it to some use. Here are a few details; The sentiment and the leaves are from Verve. I also had some left over gold paper from the wedding, that I thought would look lovely on a Christmas card. The tag paper is from who knows where. The sentiment is heat embossed in gold along with some fun gold Nuvo drops for accents.

I am linking my card up to Stamp Ink Paper where they have a fabulous color challenge going on!

Hope you are having a truly wonderful day! Nanc’

Merry Monday Times 3!

When I saw the colors that Colleen chose over at Merry Monday I knew I had to take the time to play along! I had so much fun with these colors that I couldn’t stop. I think the one I showcased up top came out the best, but here are the other two as well.

The supplies are a mix and match of this and that.  The ornaments and sentiments are all Verve.  The two trees are stamps I picked up at a LSS. I started off sponging my backgrounds with some various inks and then did some heat embossing. All Christmas cards need a little shimmer so I used some silver glitter paper too!

I sure appreciate you stopping by, Hope your day is completely fabulous! Nanc’

Remembering you!

Screen Shot 2016-06-07 at 6.12.24 PMHello Friends,  Happy Weekend to you!  It’s Color Week over at Just Us Girls and boy do we have a beautiful color combo for you!  It’s Coral, Pink and Yellow.  Let me just say it may not look great together on the graphic, but boy oh boy am I in love!  I found a card (by Laura Bassen whose work I adore) HERE that jump started my creativity but I wanted to make it my own, so I did.  I decided to put in the empty white spaces in after I divided it into thirds. I knew I wanted to use one of my favorite Verve sets Poppy Birthday along with one of the coolest techniques…emboss resist. I will be remembering this layout, and will be using it again, for that I am certain.

Here is another view of my card so that you can see that two of the flowers are popped up with dimensionals.  Please come over to Just Us Girls, check out what my teammates and Guest designer Carol has done this week, an join us!  You might even get selected as our next Chic of the Week.  Take care, Nanc’

Vellum-Bridal Shower

DSC_0139 Screen Shot 2016-04-08 at 11.36.27 AM

Hello Friends,  First let me apologize for the poor photo.  This was one of those days where I was a tad rushed.  Someone asked me at school to make a quick wedding card that they needed the very next day, so I didn’t get the chance to play around with the lightning. I assure you that the bottom of the wedding dress does indeed have a vellum panel overlay, as the challenge is in fact to use vellum this week over at Just Us Girls.  The dress is something I quickly sketched and traced, the EF makes a nice touch to the dress don’t you think?  I used a MS punch to create the bottom scallop and the white flowers are also made with a MS punch as well. The sentiment is heat embossed on vellum and is from Stampin Up.  I added a piece of ribbon, some hearts, and rhinestones and I was finished.  I have seen many variations of a wedding dress like this over on Pinterest, so the original idea is not my own.

Please come on over this week to Just Us Girls and check out what my fabulous team and guest Aileen did using vellum too!  Take care, Nancy

Finally Christmas!

DSC_0248Hello Friends,  My first Christmas card for this year…WooHoooooo!  I am so behind the eight ball!  When summer started I told hubby I was going to do all my Christmas cards this summer…bahahahhaha!  Like that happened, along with cleaning all the blinds in the entire house.  Well, there is always Thanksgiving break. LOL  As soon as I saw the 5th and final sketch over at Viva La Verve, I knew I was going to turn it into a Christmas card.  The DP is from Stampin Up and the center ornament is a die cut that I am fortunate enough to have at my school.  I decided to use the Verve stamp Set Pinecone Christmas and heat emboss the pointsettias. The sentiment is also from the same set.  The double bow die cuts are also from my school. I am linking this card up to Merry Monday Christmas Challenge where they asked us to use Pastel Colors on our card.  I hope the Bermuda bay color doesn’t disqualify me.

Hope you are further ahead of your Christmas cards than I am!  If not, what are your waiting for!  Take care,  Nanc’

Embossing Way Back When!

DSC_0228STB ToppingsHello Friends, I have a card and a little embossing story for you!  Before I head over to my Throwback Thursday,  it’s time for another Challenge over at Seize the Birthday. This time around our topping is Embossing.  You may use any type of embossing you like, Dry with and embossing folder, Heat embossing with versa mark and a heat gun, or any other type of embossing that I haven’t mentioned. Speaking of any other type….. My hubby before I got into card making myself, use to make his own thank you cards using an embossing technique of his own. He would dampen a piece of watercolored paper by sticking it in a sink full of water, then he would pull it out to dry on a towel to where it was damp and no longer dripping. Then he would take the paper and lay it over the stencil (that he made) and press ever so slightly through the stencil as to make a raised impression using the back nub of a paintbrush. He made some cards with the sentiment raised on the outside front of the card, sometimes he would do the opposite and have the impression going inwards on the front of the card.  When it came time for our wedding invitations, we were frugal okay poor, we decided to make our own Wedding invitations with this embossing technique.  Okay, don’t laugh, back then we sure thought they looked awesome.  We were getting married at the beach at 9 AM on a Sunday on the deck of a restaurant that was owned by a family member to my boss at the time.  So we decided to have the invitation mimic what it would actually look like where we would be standing at the time of the wedding.  You will see what I mean in the photos below.  Sorry for the quality of the photos I was to lazy to take them out of the scrapbooks and they have page protectors over them as well.  Even the inside response card had a bit of embossing on it as well.DSC_0232

See how the card looks like the photo.

The wavy line was suppose to be the tide rolling in…lol
DSC_0237

My dress was hand made by a friend of mine! I thought it needed to be a little less formal

since it was after all 9AM.

DSC_0233I so appreciate you sticking with me down memory lane.  By the way, hubby and I have been married for 23 years now to put the photos into perspective.

VLVJul15Week3SketchI am also linking my card up to the Viva la Verve week 3 sketch where all my inspiration began.!  I thought this sketch was awesome! If you haven’t noticed I really adore the Poppy Birthday  Set from Verve and I also have been kinda enjoying doing some heat embossing with some ink resist over top.  I think this is my 3rd card as of late with this technique.  So, So Fun! The Chevron piece across the top was made with some Washi tape and my SU Envelop Punch Board.  I don’t use this tool enough.  The base was started out on a piece of white card stock and I used 2 SU inks to blend together to get the results I was happy with.   Any other questions just let me know.

Take care and see you soon! Nanc’

Embossing at Just Us Girls

DSC_0447Screen Shot 2015-04-11 at 2.52.57 PMHappy Saturday my stamping friends!  It’s trend week over at Just Us Girls and the trend we want you to use is Embossing. We know this trend is not new, but it’s one that I think will stand the test of time and will be around forever.  You may use any kind of embossing that you wish, heat and or dry as I have done. This rose embossing folder is an old one from Stampin Up. The butterflies are also from SU and the sentiment is from Verve! The card has already been sent out or I would have opted for a better photo.  Excuse the blur!

Please come on over to JUGS and join us and remember if you are chosen as our Chic of the Week, you will be in the running for a Guest Designer position in the future.

See you over at Just Us Girls….and enjoy your weekend!  Nanc’

Silver and Gold

DSC_0056

STB ToppingsSilver and Gold…..Now I will have you singing that all day! LOL  Silver and Gold is our Topping option this time at Seize the Birthday.  What a fun and striking combo…don’t you think?  I made this card with a new Verve stamp set that I received from a dear friend (Thank you JoAnn) and being that it was a Christmas stamp set I had to pair it up with a birthday sentiment that I have had for years.  I heat embossed the poinsettias in gold and silver. The silver dots are SU paper and are made with a SU owl punch.  I use that punch for so much! The ribbon is from Verve. If you have never used Verve ribbon it’s a must!  Please come by and join us we would love to see what you can do with silver and gold!

Keeping it short…have tons to do as I am sure you do as well.

Until next time…take care!  Nanc’

Wishing You Peace…Anything Goes

DSC_0346Hi Folks,  Hope all of my US friends enjoyed your Thanksgiving!  Mine was wonderful (as I was hostess) and I am thrilled to say the least! It’s a shame we all don’t get together more often.  I will post some photos sometime soon and share with you my table settings that turned out fantastic, thanks to my hubby, son and Pinterest!

Anyways,  If you feel like you have seen this card before, you have…..sort of! It’s the same layout, but different colors and an added embossed panel.  I plan on making this one of my signature cards for this Christmas Season.  I never make the same card twice, I have to change the color at the very least, so they will all be unique in some way or another.  My hubby says that that is a problem I need to address.  What does he know about card making?…….LOL

Screen Shot 2014-10-11 at 9.47.48 AMIt’s Wildcard Week “Anything Goes” at Just Us Girls this week…. so make sure you come on over and play along!  The sky is the limit and while your there check out the rest of the DT’s creations along with our fabulous GD Tajanna!  This is her last post with us and we are sad to see her go…she has been amazing!

Remember if your picked as our Chic of The Week you could also be in the running as a GD with us in the future too.

Card Details:   My paper is all Stampin UP, the sentiment is from Verve in the With Love set.  The ornament die is something I am fortunate enough to have at my school. The embossed panel is something I used one day when I was at my friends house and I am not for certain whose it is.

See you over at JUGS!   Nanc’
