Happy Birthday-Card Concept

Hello, I have been eyeing the gorgeous Fall photo over at The Card Concept for the past week or so and I finally had some time yesterday afternoon to play along. I was drawn to the fireplace lines and the fall leaves of course.

Card Details: First, I thought about making bricks or using a stencil to mimic the fireplace but I took a different direction entirely. I decided to just make stripes across the background using strips of the same cream cardstock, almost like ship-lap. Next, I sponged some paper using various tones of Oxide inks to make my leaves. You all probably know by now that this old retired SU set is my all-time favorite when it comes to fall. The leaves are just amazing. I also used other various leaves that are also from SU and retired, I am sorry to say. The sentiment is from Avery Elle and is heat embossed in gold. I made my own embellishments with sparkly paper and a holly die from Spellbinders.

I hope you have a wonderful day and find some time to be creative! Take care, Nanc’

More Leaves

Hello friends, You didn’t really think I was done with Fall leaves yet, did you? LOL As soon as I saw the gorgeous photo from Just Add Ink, I knew I had to get them back out at least one more time. To keep things in a more Fall perspective I added a dark background using one of my favorite Stampin Up colors, Blackberry Bliss.

Here is a close up.

I am going to link up again over at the Four Seasons Blog as well where their Fall challenge is still going strong.

Card Details: Leaves are all from SU and the set is retired. The greeting is from Scrapbook.com. The added gold sprigs are also SU and from the Forever Fern set. I used Oxide inks to do my blending on white card-stock.

I made another card using these colors for an upcoming Paper Players challenge so stay tuned. Take care, NANC’

More Fall!

Hello, You wouldn’t think this Florida girl would be so into making Fall themed cards while it’s still in the high 80’s, but let me tell you, I may need an intervention! LOL I am hooked! I was thinking as I typed this post the same thing happened a couple of years ago and I was using this same stamp and die set. It is just awesome and one of my all time favs from SU!

When I saw the challenges starting over at Inspired by and Tic Tac Toe Challenge and they were fall inspired, I used them as an excuse to use this stamp and do this technique one more time…well maybe two more times. Stay tuned. :). For the Tic Tac Toe board I picked the center row of Orange/Rust, Free and Layers. And for the Inspired by I obviously chose the fall pic.

Card Details: Stamps and Dies are from Stampin UP and called Colorful Seasons. I first made a stencil of the die that matches this stamp. Then I stamped a white panel of leaves. Next, I used my stencil and sponged each leaf one at a time using three colors of Oxide Inks. Then, I decided to change this card up a bit and put dimension on three of the leaves. But before I did that, I sponged the background with yellow purposely leaving a bit of light around each leaf. I cut the leaves out four times on white paper to achieve my depth. Pictured below. Last, I decided to use my hello die from Simon Says Stamps and its shadow. I decided not to put the bottom right corner background back in as I liked the look.

I hope you have a wonderful week and thanks for stopping by!

Take care, Nanc’

CAS-Fall

Hello, Is fall showing itself where you are yet? Well if not, we are sure feeling it this week at The Paper Players. Claire is our hostess and she wants all of us to embrace Fall with a CAS challenge. As I was making my card, I was reminded of a trip my hubby and I took last fall to a cabin in the Georgia mountains to escape the world for a bit. We had such a great time. I hadn’t seen fall leaves in a long time and I was like a little kid collecting them everywhere we went. Thanks for the memory Claire!

I am going to toss my card in for my second entry over at Addicted to CAS where the word is Leaf!

Card Details: The paper isn’t black as it appears but a deep chocolate brown! I absolutely adore the die set from Stampin Up called Seasonal Layers, it is since retired as far as I know, but it it so much fun to use. After I cut out the outline of my leaves I found some patterned DSP to put behind the openings. Then I cut out the vein parts of the leaves all in dark brown to match the bottom of the card. The scalloped edge die is from MFT. The Thanks die is from Saavy.

Fall Colors…

Hello, Today I had the opportunity to play along with the fabulous color combo going on at The Paper Players.  I have mixed two of my favorite Stampin Up sets to make this card. The relatively new Sunflower set is really fabulous and the older die set called Seasonal Layers I just adore.  I absolutely love these leaves!  You should have seen me frantically looking for them one day about 2 months ago when I thought I lost them.  I tore my room apart.  Then I stopped, thought logically, and started looking in other sets, and there they were!  I was so relieved! The sentiment is from Verve. I used Copics and Colored Pencil as my medium.

Yesterday I spent the entire day reorganizing my studio and I love the way it looks now!  I need to update the photos so you can see it.  I really want to paint the cabinets white someday but that will have to wait till I have more time to convince hubby that it’s necessary.  I also would like to take out the sink. When we bought this house 28 years ago it had two kitchens.  Now it’s covered with a piece of board to hold my Big Shot but you can still see the faucet. It came in handy when I ran my own daycare and I did arts and crafts with the kids.

I hope this day finds you well!  Take care, Nanc’

With Gratitude…

Hello, It may not feel like fall in my neck of the woods quite yet…or ever…LOL, but it didn’t stop me from getting out my fall decorations today along with my favorite fall leaves from SU to make a card. Before I got to work, I needed to go find some challenge blogs to play along with.  I sometimes feel like a challenge blog addict. LOL If I was retired I think I would start another one myself!  The two I am joining today are The Paper Players Tic Tac Toe Challenge, where I have chosen the row going down (FALL, ORANGE, and LEAVES) and Happy Little Stampers (ANYTHING GOES WITH DIES.) Hold onto your hats folks…..I am about to say something a bit rare!! I am extremely happy with the way this card came out.  In fact, so happy that I made two of them, and one I will be sharing later next month with a JUGS challenge.

Card details: SU-cardstock, sentiment, and leaves. I did the watercolor smooshing technique for the leaves. Then did the outline in gold to match the embossed sentiment. I distressed my kraft cardstock with some oxide ink. MFT-banner die and Mod Rectangles. Gold Nuvo drops to finish it off!

So happy you stopped by, Have a creative week! Nanc’

Harvest/ Autumn Blessings…

Hello, Although we don’t quite have Autumn here in Florida and the temps are still in the 90’s, it didn’t stop me from making a couple of Autumn theme cards over the weekend. One is made of the colors you would traditionally expect, and the other one …not so much.  I love how they both turned out!

I am linking up these cards to two different challenges.  The first one is The Twofer Card Challenge which I am totally thrilled not to miss out on this month, and the other one is The Color Throwdown, which I have been following since its inception.

The stamps I used for these cards are from Verve, with an exception of the larger leaf on the autumn colored card, who knows where that one came from, but it’s a keeper.   On both cards, I heat embossed the leaves with either white, silver, gold or red. On the fall colored card, I used my oxide inks to blend the background.  The leaf punch is from SU and dry embossed, and the tag and wonky rectangles are from MFT.  I splattered some white paint to help hide some of my stray embossing powder on the black card. Finally, I got to use my new Rectangles with the rounded corners from MFT.  I just love those patterned leaves from Verve, and I knew they would make a fun fall card.  The black card is so very shimmery in real life!  If you have any other questions…let me know!
