Retirement Party…I did it!

Today’s post is not card related, however, it is still craft related! My hubby retired this year after 33 years of teaching and I thought it was a perfect time to throw him a well-deserved party! The party was not a surprise… however, he wasn’t allowed to see any of the decorations or even the invitations ahead of time. His reaction when he came in was priceless. He said, “I felt like I was part of a house reveal, like on the TV show- Fixer Upper.” So instead of writing a huge long post about what my son and an amazing team of a few friends and I created, I am just going to show you! Warning this is going to be somewhat long and not in any particular order! I am still in recovery mode.  I will start with the invitations. I made 82 of them I might add.  Most but not all of what you see below was hand made either by myself, my son or a dear friend. Tyler, Sandra, my sister, and a few sweet friends helped me execute it.

The signs you see above were the signs my hubby would put on the back of his bike.

So often the lesson of the day started on the way to school.

Well, thanks for letting me share with you what I have been up to the last three months or so. It turned out far better than we could have ever imagined. My hubby and I are both suffering a bit today from a mix of happiness and sadness, having so much fun with our son and daughter in law for a mere couple of days and not wanting it to end.  It was especially hard to say goodbye this time and they felt the same way.  I just have to remember how lucky I am to have such an amazing close and wonderful family!

I will be back again in a few days after I put my house and life back together. I am sure you don’t have a giant paintbrush propped in the corner of your bedroom. LOL.

Thanks for letting me share my special memories with you!

Take care, Nanc’

Warning Crafters this is not card or project related!

This blog is a reflection of my life and I like to keep things real and

by posting this on my blog for my family and I to look back on someday!

This is the photo collage and letter that accompanied my Christmas card this year to some of the relatives

that don’t see us either in person or on Facebook!

The corresponding numbers you see or shall I say don’t see, in this photo collage accompany the letter.

It will make more sense when you read it.

Basically every time I say Thankful in the letter I put  a corresponding photo to go along with it.

(Trust me in the Christmas card you could see all of the photos including the numbers.)Family Christmas JPGDecember 2013

We hope this letter finds you well and you are finding sometime to enjoy life as you get ready for the Holiday Season!  The Leppeks have had a relatively busy time this year starting January off with the Hall of Fame Bowl in Tampa, to root on Michigan!  It was a very exciting game despite the loss, and we were (3)Thankful we were together to experience it.  Ty is a Junior now at FSU despite the college thinking he is ready to graduate with the amount of hours he has already taken (117).  He is also President of FSU’s Ballroom Club and is (7)Thankful he has the chance to teach his generation some of the dances of the past.  Ty also had a paid internship this Summer in Sarasota, so we were beyond thrilled that he was home with us.  He was working 50+ hours for a home automation company while still managing to take classes online.  They loved him so much that they offered him a job and he currently works for them remotely while attending FSU.  He was given the position of associate product manager for UX and UI, a field he hopes to pursue post grad.  He is in charge of their app design for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.  The company also paid for him to attend and work the Largest Home Automation Conference in the U.S. in Denver, Colorado in September.  He was in his glory to say the least.  Talking to people about technology is what he does best!  In case you haven’t noticed he has switched educational gears and is pursuing a more lucrative and stable career, besides that of a music teacher.  His passion for Music is still burning strong, and I do believe it is what he was suppose to do with his life, however, he is equally or maybe even more gifted with technology and is enthusiastic about it as well.  In his spare time, which is about Zero, he is writing a Young Adult Children’s book, and with the encouragement of his 8th grade English teacher he is determined to publish it someday!  Ty also had his first set of stitches in his hand this year, it was moving day at FSU and my Birthday, and his mom told him to hurry it up, (Yes, Guilty) and needless to say the detour to the Hospital slowed things down quite a bit. So 7 stitches later, accompanied by a Birthday lunch at the local Chic-Fil-A,  we were just (8,9) Thankful it wasn’t worse.

With Tyler being home this summer we took it as a sign and opportunity to take a Family Vacation to NYC, a dream of ours for quite sometime; being the Theatre enthusiast that we are. We packed as much as we possibly could into those 5 days and enjoyed every moment of it.  The weather was perfect!  We managed to take in 2 shows; Newsies and First Date.  We also, had our photos taken with the famous actors who stared in First Date…Zac Levi and Krista Rodriguez.  It was a night we won’t soon forget.  Between Central Park, Rockfeller Plaza, and the Empire State Building, just to name a few, I think one of the most moving moments was visiting the Twin Towers Memorial, it is something I will truly never forget.  So (2)Thankful for memories like those!

Dave has become quite a craftsmen this year and has started a side business called: carveymyart@aol.com.  As you can see in the photo, and the front of the Christmas card,  he is very talented.  It all starts with a piece of Pine and turns into a work of ART!  He is having difficulty keeping up with the demand and his ideas are plentiful.  People keep telling us we need to take this idea to the TV show Shark Tank! We don’t know about that, however I am (4,5) thankful he is enjoying his craft as much as I enjoy mine. He spends a great deal of time in his shed and he sure keeps him out of trouble that way.

Finally, my dad is doing well at the age of 83 I am (6)Thankful for everyday we get to spend with that wonderful man and that he continues to be in good health.  Both the photo of my two men, and the photo of Dave, Dad and Ty were taken this  Thanksgiving.  So I leave you with my final statement that I am continuously (1)Thankful for memories like these.

May your Holidays be joyful!

Love,

Nancy, Dave and Ty

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!

You have blessed me this year more then you will ever know!

I can’t wait to see where 2014 takes me on this wonderful journey!

Love,

Nancy

Shabby Chic

Today’s card put me right outside my comfort zone!  I have always struggled with Shabby Chic, but today I felt it was time to tackle my fears.  Do you have a type of design or style you struggle with?  Would love to hear about it!  Anyways,  It took me hours to get this card to come together and I’m not sure it’s exactly what I had hoped for, but it is finished and that’s all that matters!  It was made with a Paper Packet I got from K and Company and it comes with all sorts of Diecuts and embellishments.  So I used some they provided and made some of my own. Added lace,a flower, ribbon and a button and there you have it!

I am entering it in the following challenges: The Pink Elephant, Color Throwdown and a new site I stumbled upon Catered Crop Recipe Swap.

Have a great week and thanks for stoppin in!

Family Time

Below is a photo of the canvas my Hubby painted for Tyler’s room.  Isn’t it awesome!!!

On this gloomy and rainy Saturday I can’t stop thinking about my son and how much I miss having him around.  The 6 weeks he was home was soooooo fabulous, but last week my DH and I took him back to college and helped him get settled for his second year at FSU.  He had to report very early as he had to begin training as an RA.  Moving in was such a enjoyable time even though Tyler can be a slave driver.  LOL  He is a lot like me in that regard, as he had an agenda and a time frame that he wanted to adhere to and we did adhere to it!  LOL We had the best time laughing and just being together. His room looks fabulous!!!  We are the luckiest parents in the entire world!  He has such a positive attitude, kind heart, great sense of humor and soooooo smart!  He is so driven to succeed and succeed he will, we are certain of it!   The mom in me just worries cause he doesn’t know when to much is to much….and I am so afraid he will work himself to death.

Sorry this is not stamping and scrappin related, but sometimes a mom just has to brag!

Have a great day my friends and hopefully my next post will be something creative!

Scrapbooking Again!

I thought is was time since my website name is Scrapperatheart…that I incorporate some of my scrapbook pages onto my blog.  These are two of some of my favorite pages.  The only thing I dislike about them is my handwriting.  They say one of the true signs of a meaningful scrapbook is one with the creators handwriting in it.  So there you go!  Like or dislike I guess it’s meaningful. LOL I do find that when I find something with my mother’s handwriting on it, I do treasure it more….especially recipe cards.  As you might notice in the photos we are all a lot younger here…well I didn’t say my scrapbooking was current. Who’s is right?

I hope you have a wonderful day and I have inspired you to scrapbook again if you haven’t in awhile!

I’m glad I did!

Love is Family….

Love to me today is Family!  And today in particular I am missing the other part of my immediate family something fierce. That would be my son! 😦  He is such a joy to have around the house, and it just isn’t the same without him here!  Oh well, that is not why you are here now is it!   The card I have for you today is for two challenges… the Sweet Stop Sketch and the Jugs Challenge. The Jugs Challenge was to make a card with a collage theme.   Love that idea!!

  Thanks for stopping by!!

Enjoy your day wherever you are,

Please say a prayer for this family…My hubby is in Tennessee visiting his best friend from college, after the recent loss of their youngest child due to a brain aneurysm.  Kelly was a Senior in High School! I can’t even imagine what they are going through the only thing I can hope for is that Dave is doing okay and is bringing those wonderful people so much needed strength, laughter and distraction at such a difficult time!

I hope the Butler Family know how much we care and love them!

Hugs to all of you,

Last night I got a message on FB before bed to pray for another 18 year old young girl that we know, that is in ICU due to a possible stroke.

Please God I am praying for Brianne and her lovely family, watch over them as I know you can and let her please be okay!

Mixbook…what a wonderful site!

For a few months now I have been working on an online digital scrapbook for my son, I am happy to say that I sent it to be printed last night!  I decided to make a separate book that is dedicated strictly to his years in Marching Band.  My intentions were for the entire 4 years to fit in one book, but after reaching almost 50 pages I decided to stop at his Junior year, and make a separate book for his Senior year.  If you have never tried it you need to it is so much fun!  I used Mixbook.com!  I loved it!  The site is amazing and so easy to use!

Hope you are having an amazing summer so far !!

A little post about Family…

Hey stampers and bloggers,

I have been away from blogging and creating for awhile, and felt it was time to take a moment and post some photos from my son’s senior prom.  I have a feeling that with graduation and such coming so quickly, that stamping and posting is going to be on the back burner for awhile, or at least few and far between.  Okay, I am rambling now!

Thanks for looking!

NANCY
