This Card is Full of Hugs

Hello, I am back today with one more card using some of the latest new products from Spellbinders. What I have used today is this great phrase This Card is Full of Hugs from the Glimmer Hot Foil Sentiments Collection. I know it will be getting a lot of use as I love to send out these types of cards. There are a total of 6 fun bold sayings in this collection. If you want to see the others, I have all the May arrivals linked for you below along with the particular supplies I used for this card as well.

The color foil I used for my phrase is in the Satin Variety Pack and the color is mint. Isn’t it so pretty? I decided to use the same color palette for my flowers.

I paired the wonderful phrase with a couple of other Spellbinders products; the floral set is called Glimmer Edge Flowers and is brand new to me. FYI…It is on sale for 1/2 price currently! The background panel is called Geometric Optical and is one of my best past purchases as well.

If you look closely at my card you will notice that the leaves on the flowers have a fine line of foil comparatively to the thick line on the flowers, that is because I chose to foil all the dies that came in the set and not just the ones that were designated for foiling. I love stretching my products and this has opened up so many other possibilities with all the die cuts I own. I know I am usually behind the eight ball when it comes to trying new things, but have you tried foiling other dies that were not intended for that purpose? I can’t wait to do more!

I certainly appreciate you stopping by! It has taken me an entire day to write this post as my Vertigo won’t go away and computer work makes it much worse, so I only do a bit at a time. However, the trip was totally worth it!

Peach and Kraft

Busy day here on the blog…if you are looking for my card for Just Us Girls, please scroll down!

Hello, It’s April 1st, and all joking aside….it’s time for the next Hues of Colors at Color Hues. Stef is our fabulous hostess and she along with the rest of the Design Team did an incredible job with her Peach and Kraft color combo.

Card Details: The lily die is from MFT, the greeting is foiled and from Spellbinders and I have it linked up for you below as I think the entire set is wonderful with so many fabulous phrases! That fun bow is something I was lucky enough to receive from a friend and is in an older SU set called Pierced Blooms and I just love it. I used a bit of DSP that I pierced with a Pink Fresh Studio cover plate called Sparkling Diamonds. I used a bit of Copics to make my lilies come to life. I used some gold foil paper and a small dot die cut to make my gold bits of shimmer to use as accents. It also doesn’t add too much bulk to the card for mailing purposes.

Sending Birthday Wishes

Hello, I am back today with a card for the latest Topping at Seize the Birthday. Linda is our fabulous hostess and she has asked us to make a card for a child. I was asked by a neighbor of mine to make a card for her 12-year-old grand-daughter who loves to bake. I thought my MFT cupcake dies would do the trick.

Card Details: MFT- Cupcake Dies and Watercolor Wash Stencil. The Heart stencil is from Honey Bee Stamps. The greeting is foiled and from Spellbinders-Mini Everyday Sentiments. I used a bit of Copics to color and mirrored paper for my cupcake liners. The tiny hearts are a punch and a die that I keep on my desk 24/7.

I hope you come by Seize the Birthday and check out the cards by the DT and our Two Surprise Party guests! We have Hilary Wright joining us for the next two months and Deborah Wheeler is our one-time guest, as she was the winner of our last challenge. Welcome Ladies!

Take care and happy creating, Nanc’

On Your Birthday

Hello, I am jumping past Spring this week and right into Summer since our temps are in the 80s already. We also skipped right over Winter this year, the thoughts of how hot Summer could possibly be is a bit scary. Plus we have had zero rain in the past three months or so. Don’t even get me started on the pollen. Enough about the weather…I sound like my hubby! LOL

Let’s get to the card I have for you today.

I just love this Spellbinders Day at the Beach die set and today I paired it with a new to me Foil set called Splatter Sentiments. It is a fun set with a mix of a border, splatters, and words. I just the whimsical font of the word Birthday. I sponged her bathing suit with intention of leaving some of it white. The DSP for the hat, flip flops, and beach bag was cut from two scraps that are 3 x 3 squares that I have been saving as they were too pretty to part with. The Chevron paper is from MFT. I used my Fiskers cutter-Victorian blade to give the card I decorative edge at the bottom. The card that inspired this card was found HERE on Pinterest.

Everything is linked for you below.

Gold and Black

Hello, I am back today with one more card using one of Spellbinder’s newest releases in the Four Petals Collection. I just love the quick and wonderful results you get when foiling this Scroll Label Plate, and think it looks great in gold on a black background, don’t you? I needed to send a card to a friend and thought why not add a few flowers to it. These dainty flowers are also from Spellbinders. I have everything I used linked below. The white confetti background is actually a piece of DSP that I think worked out perfectly.

You Brighten My Day

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am back today with another card in a different colored background using the Scroll Label Hot Foil Plate. I think pink and silver is one of my all-time favorite color combos, throw in some lilac and white and you have a winning combination, in my opinion. I combined the intricate plate with the Four Petal Bloom Reflection which is also very pretty and easy to put together. I have also used Spellbinders-Mini Everday Sentiments for my greeting. I have everything linked up for you in multiple places if you care to take a look.

Taking photos continues to be a struggle for me some days, throw in foil, and boy oh boy it’s nearly impossible. This card is really quite nice in real life.

For You

Hello, I hope you are having a great day! Today’s card is for the newest release over at Spellbinders called the Four Petals Collection. For my card, I am using the Four Petal-Scroll Label Hot Foil Plate and Sentiment. It is intricate and so pretty and makes for an elegant card in a matter of minutes. I decided to pull out my Spellbinders Truckin Through the Season Die set and use the small presents to turn this into a birthday card. I love the way it turned out. The circle background is a piece of Sparkly DSP that I have had for a very long time. The foil is from Spellbinders and is the Silver Holographic one that you can find in the Foil Pack I have linked below. This card sparkles from head to toe!

Sending My Love

Hello, I am back today with a card that is a total CASE of a card I saw Cathy Zielske do. I had just received this great foil background from Spellbinders (from my son) for Christmas and then two weeks later, Cathy did a card using it. The timing was perfect and I was in love right away. The card is super quick to do. All you have to do is foil the background and then color it in with brushes and inks. I used Oxide Inks. The sentiment is also foiled and from Spellbinders too. You can find all the info below.

Now, you all know how hard it is to photograph foiled cards, so you have to trust me that this looks wonderful in real life and it was so quick and easy to do. I took many photographs below.

I could not find Cathy’s card on her blog but it is on her Instagram account which I have linked up for you HERE! It is much softer and prettier than mine. Before I do this again, I will need some smaller blending brushes so I can stay inside the lines better when ink blending. It is supposed to be a little messy and that is what I love most about it.

Before I went to work, I checked out the colors at the Color Throwdown and I knew they would work perfectly!

I would be amiss if I didn’t link up with my friend Darnell over at NBUS.

Yana’s Sentiments

I certainly hope you have a wonderful day, however you chose to spend it. I will be playing it low-key today, as yesterday was extremely busy and emotional. We spent the morning continuing the task of cleaning out my father’s home and then we met with the realtor. Then after lunch, we released our parent’s ashes along with their first grand-child (all together). Of course, I cried most of the day and slept poorly on top of that, as I had way too much to think about.

Take care, Nanc’

Handmade for You

Hello friends, I am back today with my 3rd card using this fun new set from Simon Hurley and Spellbinders. This time I decided to use just the rose stamp in the set and try my hand at watercolor- the cheaters’ way. What is the cheaters’ way…you might ask? In my opinion, it’s when you heat emboss the image so that it makes it easier to color inside the lines. It’s the only way you will see me doing it, that is for certain! I must say that I totally enjoyed the process. I know it has flaws and some of the shading is probably in the wrong place because of the light source…blah blah blah…but to me, worrying about all of that takes the joy away. I just wanted to relax and enjoy the process and that is what I did.

After I was done with the water coloring, I couldn’t decide on what I wanted to do for the background. Hubby suggested I used the foil plate-Sealed Geometric Flowers, he really thinks it’s awesome, and so do I. Now that it’s on the background, do you think it’s too busy? I am on the fence. The foiled Handmade For You greeting is from Spellbinders as well. I have links for you below. I decided to take this photo outside in the sun in front of my Florida Flame Vine and see if I could capture the foil a bit better.
