Color my world with family, friends and some time to be creative making cards!

Heart Rainbows

Hello, I have a CASE today of a fabulous card that I fell in love with from A Paper Melody.  If you haven’t seen Melody’s work you seriously must!  I have linked her website up for you.  When I started my card I softly sponged a pink sky background. Then I gathered hearts from various stamp companies and my Catherine Pooler inks and started randomly stamping my hearts.  Then I dropped my ink pad and may have said a naughty word.  That is when I decided to forge ahead and find a pretty background paper to mount my rainbow on. I think the dotted paper worked well.  It was a happy accident as I like the way the card turned out.  If you look closely at parts of the rainbow and at the clouds they have fun foam beneath them for added depth.  I should have taken another photo to show you the depth, but the card is currently sealed in my mailbox as I type and on its way to its recipient.  The sentiments are from Gina K and the fun clouds are MFT.  I will be making more of these fun cards for sure!

I am linking this card up over at Addicted to CAS where the word is Rainbow. I am also entering this card over at Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge where the word is smile.  I don’t know about you but everyone loves rainbows and they sure make me smile when I see them.  Plus my card is going to a dear friend that is away from her family right now, and going through a rough time.  I sure hope my card will make her smile.

I hope the next time it rains and you look closely at the sky, you may find a heart stamped rainbow too.  Nanc’

Thinking of You…

Hello, Today’s card is for a challenge over at Just Add Ink-Thinking of You.  The flowers on this card are MFT. I also used a sentiment from Verve and a corner punch by Stampin Up. I thought this was kinda a fun color combo too. I am trying to use up some of my fun designer papers, lord knows I have way too much.

Thanks for paying me a visit and stay safe out there!  Nanc’

Happy Birthday @ STB

Over at Seize the Birthday, we have a new topping starting today.  JoAnn has picked Off the Edge this time around and you can interpret that in many ways. For example, your design can be off the edge of your card, or your top mat, or you can stamp an image so that only part is showing and part of it is cut off like I have done above.  We have some amazing cards over at STB that are sure to inspire you with an idea of your own. Come join us!

Here are my card details: Hydrangea is from Gina K., the sentiment is from, the rectangle frame is MFT, the enamel dots are from SU, colored with Copics and colored pencils.

Go create an amazing day, Nanc’

Winter Blessings

Screen Shot 2016-01-10 at 2.15.56 PMHello Friends,  and hello three day Weekend! WhoopWooooo!  Working in the school system sure has it’s perks! Today over at Just Us Girls it’s Trend Week.  So it’s time to break out those tags and incorporate them on your card and or project. I really had a great time putting this card together.  I made the background of my tag using the smoothing technique and got to break out my new snow hill dies from Lawn Fawn and use them for the first time too.  The paper is from Echo Park and is called Hello Winter and the penguin is something I picked up at Michaels. I loved paper piecing his cute little hat and scarf.   The sentiment I do believe is from Gina K designs.

I hope you find sometime to join us this week, and if you get picked as our Chic of the Week you just might end up being our next Guest Designer too.

I am taking a road trip south today to meet up with my Birthday Sista’ and stamping friend Barbara for lunch, and I am beyond excited to see her again!

Take care and enjoy your day, I know I will!  Nanc’

More Minis!

Hello Friends,

I had so much fun creating my mini trio of cards the other day for the Mod Squad Challenge

and I couldn’t wait to make more!  Although this time I made single ones instead.

Here is the first one!

All stamps are Gina K designs and the set is called Snowflake.

The card measures 3 3/4 x 3 1/2

I am not sure you can see the fine dusting of glitter I put on the center snowflake.

And tell me is it strange to make black snowflakes?  I kinda liked it! LOLIMG_0003

Okay now I am off  to go get my other mini ready to post!

Don’t go far!

Spotlighting at Stamp TV

Hello Friends,

Second post of the day! 🙂

Today I have a technique for you that is called Spotlighting.

Here is a wonderful video from Gina K over at Stamp TV that explains it perfectly!

It was so much fun…I can assure you I will be doing this technique again very soon!

I am also entering this in Stamp TV’s Guest Design Challenge.

The stamp set is from Gina K and is called A Little Something.

I got it from a dear friend of mine!  It has become one of my all time favorites!

The video pretty much explains it all, but if

you have any questions at all please give me a shout out!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and find sometime to be creative!

Screen Shot 2014-02-10 at 7.16.54 PM

Of course after I photographed my card and already mailed it to my

sister for her Birthday…I realized I had altered the sketch a tad!

Completely by accident!  You would think I couldn’t screw it up when

I am the one the designed the graphic based on Vicki’s sketch.

But…think again!  :/

Well, I think it’s darn close enough!

I just got my long and short panels reversed. LOL

I hope you come on over and join us this week!

Also,  I need to say a quick thank you to our Guest Designer

Melissa Hubert for being with us this month!

You did great Girl!

Now,  Come on over to Just Us Girls and get Sketchy with us!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Technique Time…

Hello Friends,

I had the opportunity on Sunday to play in my studio and make these two cards

for a challenge over at Stamp TV.  It was good to keep busy after saying goodbye to my son that morning

as he headed back to college.  I never get use to those good-byes!

Anyways, I have a great technique for you that your going to LOVE!

It’s called Color on Color Emboss Resist and HERE is the video you can watch by Gina K.

She makes the best videos!

Unfortunately, on this photo you can’t see that I sponged pale pink around my die-cut

while in the die, you will have to trust me on that one!  I used the same technique and made

and extra hummingbird for both cards!

On the second card you can barely see the color blue beneath the white.

The reason there are 2 cards instead of one is that I accidentally grabbed the wrong

embossing powder the first time.  Gina suggested to use Clear embossing powder and

I used white by accident.  I absolutely loved the way it came out after I heat set it

and knew I wasn’t going to let it go to waste! Love good mistakes!!

Here are two additional shots that I took while I was working.

I used SU- Island Indigo, Tempting Turquoise and Regal Rose as my colors.

This photo was before I heat set it !

The stamp set used for the entire card is also from Gina K Designs

and is retired, but one of my favorites…Hugs and Prayers.

The little leaves were made with my Cricut and ran through by Cuttlebug.

The label die and the border punch is also Stampin Up.

Any questions give me a shout out!

Come join us over at Stamp TV!

Remember to take time to be creative,

If I Could Save Time…..

Today over at Just Us Girls we have a great Inspiration Photo from Lisa!

Screen Shot 2013-12-25 at 7.09.26 PM

When I first saw this photo…I got really excited because I knew that because it

actually didn’t say Happy New Year anywhere on the photo, I had the flexibility to change it up a bit

and think outside the box.  I was then talking to and looking at fellow designer Sharyn’s card

for this challenge and one thing led to another and I realized I had this great

stamp set from Gina K Designs that would work perfectly!

Thanks Sharyn for your constant inspiration and Lisa for a great photo this week!

Okay enough is enough Nancy…get on with it!

What do you think???  Kinda outside the box or what?

The stamps from the set are the clock and the word treasure.

The sentiment at the bottom I made on my computer. (cheating I know!)

Let me explain some details on how my card came to be.

I took my jar stamp and stamped it on a piece of card stock and

then put it in my printer and enlarged it as it was to small.

I colored it with colored pencil…Hubby says next time don’t stamp it

in dark ink as it messes up the shading with those very dark lines.

(That was my art lesson for the day!) Thanks Hubby!

He had the brilliant idea to make it

appear that it had a lid on it even though it doesn’t by using a gold pencil.

When the card was finished I thought, why not add gold stickles to the lines on the lid

to give it some depth.  I was very happy with how it came out!

The clock was also colored with prisma colored pencil.

I am going to give it to my son when he is back at college.

I sure hope he doesn’t pay me a blog visit anytime soon!

Now, head on over to the JUGS blog and see what my talented

teammates did with this challenge!
