Sending My Love

Hello, I am back today with a card that is a total CASE of a card I saw Cathy Zielske do. I had just received this great foil background from Spellbinders (from my son) for Christmas and then two weeks later, Cathy did a card using it. The timing was perfect and I was in love right away. The card is super quick to do. All you have to do is foil the background and then color it in with brushes and inks. I used Oxide Inks. The sentiment is also foiled and from Spellbinders too. You can find all the info below.

Now, you all know how hard it is to photograph foiled cards, so you have to trust me that this looks wonderful in real life and it was so quick and easy to do. I took many photographs below.

I could not find Cathy’s card on her blog but it is on her Instagram account which I have linked up for you HERE! It is much softer and prettier than mine. Before I do this again, I will need some smaller blending brushes so I can stay inside the lines better when ink blending. It is supposed to be a little messy and that is what I love most about it.

Before I went to work, I checked out the colors at the Color Throwdown and I knew they would work perfectly!

I would be amiss if I didn’t link up with my friend Darnell over at NBUS.

I certainly hope you have a wonderful day, however you chose to spend it. I will be playing it low-key today, as yesterday was extremely busy and emotional. We spent the morning continuing the task of cleaning out my father’s home and then we met with the realtor. Then after lunch, we released our parent’s ashes along with their first grand-child (all together). Of course, I cried most of the day and slept poorly on top of that, as I had way too much to think about.

Take care, Nanc’

Butterfly Kisses / Simon Hurley @ Spellbinders

Hello, I am super excited to share with you the newest Collection called Butterfly Kisses from Spellbinders and Simon Hurley!

Three New Stamp sets and Dies are being added to the Simon Hurley line-up. You can find them all HERE!

The stamp set is very large and comes with a variety of butterflies, a gorgeous floral, and some wonderful sentiments. The set also has matching dies. I feel very fortunate to have had it gifted to me by Spellbinders. So far, I have made four cards with this collection, so you will be seeing quite a lot of it!

I have a picture of it below! Right now I am working on a card using that beautiful rose. So stay tuned!

Card Details: For Christmas, my son bought me the Flower Pattern Foil plate that I have used on the background of my card along with Yana’s sentiments, which has a great collection of greetings. The leaves I have used under my butterflies are from the Parcel and Post Die set and cut out in gold paper. I used Copics and Prisma Colored Pencils to color my butterflies. I love how well all these Spellbinders products worked together. I have links for you below!

I hope you do something today that brings you Joy! I am making a pot of chili as we have a cold front headed our way, dropping some cards off at the store, and then hopefully working on a card or two! Take care’ Nanc’

Happy New Year

I apologize for my photos, it was rainy and cloudy here yesterday and this is the best I could do.

Hello, Happy New Year to you! I hope you had a wonderful Holiday Season and are eager and excited to get back to crafting, or perhaps you never stopped. Since it’s January 1st you know it’s time for the next Hues of Colors over at Color Hues. I am the hostess for this challenge, and not only do we have a great color pairing to start the New Year, we also have 3 new Design Team Members joining our team. I have been keeping this secret for far too long and am tickled to finally be able to share the exciting news.

Please come by the blog and help welcome; Stef Perry, Jules Peddicord, and Marcia Hill to the team. I am pretty sure that these ladies need no introduction as they are active participants in our challenge and in blogland itself.

I took another photo this morning and it’s a tad better!

Now onto my Card Details: I just love this Parcel and Post Die set from Spellbinders and I couldn’t wait to use it again. The background looks like foil but is actually a piece of DSP that I found in my stash. The sentiment is foiled and is called the All Occasion Mailbox Greetings, also from Spellbinders. I used some gold mirrored paper to tie the card together. These dies are still on sale if your interested to adding them to your collection.

Personal News: I could write many pages about what life has been like the past 6 weeks, but let me just say….that my sweet father is finally at peace. For 31 days we all took turns sitting by his side, and each time you would leave you would say goodbye just in case it was your last. My dad waited till the day after Christmas to meet up with my mom once again. Rest in peace my strong and supportive father. You did so much for me, my immediate family, and my extended family over the years and it’s time for you to rest. For those of you that don’t know, I have been my father’s primary caretaker for the past 7 years, even when I was working full time, and right now, I can’t imagine my life without him.

Dad, I will miss you terribly. It was an honor having your funeral service in my backyard. I hope you felt it was beautiful and perfectly simple like you requested. Give mom a kiss for me.

Take care, Nanc’
