Playing Cards with Friends @ CH

Hello, We have a special challenge starting over at Color Hues!  The Color Hues Design Team is Playing Cards with Michele Ferguson!I Card Everyone! YAY!  I was so delighted when she asked if this was something we might like to do and of course, I replied YES, right away!  Who wouldn’t!  Thanks, Michele!

For this challenge not only are we using the Colors RED and Blue, Michele asked the DT to incorporate STARS and or STRIPES in our Design!  Now, since Color Hues is strictly a Color Challenge the stars and stripes are  NOT going to be required from our participants, but if you decide you want to add them, you certainly may!

I made a bunch of cards like the one above with various color combos and I have just a few below to show you!

I am also playing along with the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge where they have the perfect photo for the beginning of July!

Card Details: I made my own background stencil using a deckled edge die from Spellbinders. I sponged the background with Oxide inks leaving the centers very light or nearly white. Then I sponged the stars using a SU stencil. I just moved it around a lot to get some stars to overlap each other. The graduation cap is from SSS, the Congrats script text is from Catherine Pooler and the other one is from MFT. I added a few stars with die cuts and punches in silver and black. I used Dimensionals and sparkly paper on the grad cap.

Now, I certainly hope you head on over to Color Hues and Michele Ferguson’s blog to see all the cards they have for you, and they will inspire you to play along! They certainly inspired me!

Take care and I hope you do something today that makes you happy! Nanc’

Red and Blue

Hello the 1st of July! Isn’t that just crazy? It is also time for the next Hues of Color at Color Hues. Sweet Carol has picked the perfect color combo for this summer month, as July 4th is right around the corner!

I know these cards are exactly like my last post, just in a different color combo, but sometimes life gets in the way. I purposely made these in my local High School colors and they did super well in the stores the past couple of months. What I like about this combo, is they are ideal for either male or females.

Card Details: I started off making my own stencil out of these fun Spellbinder rectangle dies that have these fun jagged edges, they are so old and I have no idea what their official name is. Next, I sponged my backgrounds in various colors using Oxide Inks. Then I got out my fun heart background stencil from Honey Bee Stamps and white pigment ink and pounded away using a sponge applicator. The grad die and cap are from SSS, and the rest of the sentiment is from Verve. The fun decorative victorian bevel is made with my large Fiskars cutter.

Now, you have to come check out the Design Team and our guest cards, as each and every time they blow me away with their talent! I am so lucky to have them on my team and call them my friends! Speaking of friends…my local and good friend Carol is our guest this time as well! Not only is she creative, she always pushes my card making abilities in different directions, which is really good for me.

Hope to see you at Color Hues and take care, Nanc’

Happy Graduation

I am happy to finally share with you the Graduation cards I had made for the stores a month ago. I work way ahead on my DT Commitments, so that is why these cards are a tad late to share for graduation season. The layout for our Sketch this week at The Paper Players was the starting point for these designs. Sweet Laurie selected the perfect sketch and what I loved about it is, it’s just basic enough to let your creativity flow.

Here are a two others that I made while I was at it.

Here are all three.

Since the Grad die and hat is brand new to me I am linking up my cards over with Darnell over at NBUS!

Card Details: I started off making my own stencil out of these fun Spellbinder rectangle dies that have these fun jagged edges, they are so old and I have no idea what their official name is. Next, I sponged my backgrounds in various colors using Oxide Inks. Then I got out some fun background stencils-the heart is from Honey Bee Stamps and the star one is SU along with some white pigment ink and pounded away using a sponge applicator. The grad die and cap are from SSS, and the rest of the sentiment is from Verve. You can’t tell by the photos but 2 of the 3 grad dies have a shadow of vellum beneath them. I forgot to add it to one of them. The fun decorative victorian bevel is made with my large Fiskars cutter.

JUGS189

Love this color combo!!  And here is what I came up with!

IMG_0003

(The coral IRL is not quite that dark orange)

It’s that time of year when I am in the need Graduation Cards

and even though this card doesn’t scream graduation that is what it’s going to be used for!

I used some Washi Tape to make my arrow and that sentiment stamp I have had forever and I

believe it is from Michaels.   Also,  I Love my new Chevron folder from Stampin Up and

I can imagine it’s going to be getting a lot more use!  Finished it off with some twine, buttons and stars.

Now, the rest of the  JUGS team has some wonderful samples to get your inspiration going,

so just hop on over to the Just Us Girls blog, and check out what the Design Team has created for you.

Then put your creative genes to work and add your card/project to the challenge post on the JUGS blog

for the chance to be selected as our Chic of the Week.

Can’t wait to see what you all create!

I got this sketch idea from retro Sketches…..but the link closed before I could post this one! 😦
