Handmade for You

Hello friends, I am back today with my 3rd card using this fun new set from Simon Hurley and Spellbinders. This time I decided to use just the rose stamp in the set and try my hand at watercolor- the cheaters’ way. What is the cheaters’ way…you might ask? In my opinion, it’s when you heat emboss the image so that it makes it easier to color inside the lines. It’s the only way you will see me doing it, that is for certain! I must say that I totally enjoyed the process. I know it has flaws and some of the shading is probably in the wrong place because of the light source…blah blah blah…but to me, worrying about all of that takes the joy away. I just wanted to relax and enjoy the process and that is what I did.

After I was done with the water coloring, I couldn’t decide on what I wanted to do for the background. Hubby suggested I used the foil plate-Sealed Geometric Flowers, he really thinks it’s awesome, and so do I. Now that it’s on the background, do you think it’s too busy? I am on the fence. The foiled Handmade For You greeting is from Spellbinders as well. I have links for you below. I decided to take this photo outside in the sun in front of my Florida Flame Vine and see if I could capture the foil a bit better.

For Someone Special

Hello, I am thrilled to be back today with a slimline card using some of the latest items from the new release from Spellbinders. This release is called Floral Reflection and as you might imagine is full of all things Floral, but tons of other things as well; Foil products, embossing folders, shaped dies, and so much more. I have linked it up for you above and below as well, you should definitely check it out.

Here is a close-up for you!

What I love about this new embossing folder, is that it’s about 5 x 8 and perfect for slimline cards. Once I had my background embossed and my circle base cut out, all I had to do was cut out all my flowers and stems. I just love all things Kraft and I think this color combo is really pretty. The sentiment is Spellbinders as well and in the Many Birthdays stamp set. It has been heat-embossed in gold. Last, after I tied my twine (which is actually embroidered floss), I took some more gold centers from the flowers and added them to the centers of the flowers on the embossing folder.

*Note the Embossing Folder is very thick and large and works best with Spellbinders Universal Plate System.

Woodblock Wednesday

Hi, I have a quick post today as I am joining Amy Tsuruta for Woodblock Wednesday. I decided to use this beautiful tree stamp that I have had for eons and is adorning my display shelf in my studio.

Here is one more pic so you can see the sparkle.

Card Details: The heat-embossed trees are from Posh Impressions, sentiment is from Verve. I cut them out and doubled them using a stitched rectangle to give them some stability. Then decided to mount them on a scalloped rectangle from MFT. I took four strips of copper paper to border the white scallop to match the embossing. I tied on a ribbon and added some paper dots in the same color.

Thanks for stopping by, Take care! Nanc’

Thinking of You…

Hello, It’s time for our next challenge over at Just Us Girls. It is photo week and Cecile is our wonderful hostess. I drew my inspiration from the colors and the stick things coming out of the block of wood, they reminded me of flowers. Plus, I had a brand new die-cut that I had been itching to use.

Card Details: The cover plate die is Stitched Diamonds from Pink Fresh Studio. The flower die is called Morning Blossom and is from Simon Says Stamps. I tried inking them a bit with Oxide Inks for some dimension. The sentiment is from Gina K and heat embossed. The card didn’t photograph well and looks so much better in person.

I didn’t love the way the first card turned out so I decided to make another one using one of my favorite color combos of Pink and Grey. This one photographed a bit better too.

Along with the other supplies I mentioned we have ; a SU Script EF, Stitched scallop rectangle is from MFT, and the Sympathy greeting is from Sunny Studios- Inside Greetings set.

Have a great day and I hope you head on over to Just Us Girls and join us! Nanc’

Happy Birthday

Hello, I hope you are having a great day. I have a Birthday card today showcasing one of Spellbinder’s newest dies called Enchanted Garden in the Winter Tales Collection. The collection is full of beautiful dies. The flowers and leaves that I have used are so whimsical and fun to put together and I was very pleased when Yana offered to send me these specific products to play with. The hardest part was figuring out what colors I wanted to use. I have a few more cards I will be sharing at a later date, so stayed tuned!

If you want to see the entire collection plus the items I used to make this card, I have affiliate links below.

Here is a close-up so you can see the background and the flowers a little bit better.

Card Details: First, I cut some strips of paper to make my white shiplap background on the base of my card. I just love doing this on a card. Next, I cut out a wreath shape using a circle die to make my wreath base. Then, I took the tree die from Spellbinders-Truckin Through the Seasons and layered the pine needles to form my wreath. Next, it was time to add the flowers and leaves that I already had made. Then, it was time to heat emboss a sentiment in silver using a stamp in the Spellbinders-Many Birthdays set onto an oval die. The sentiment was popped up with some foam tape. I added some silver glittered dots which are actually holly from the Spellbinders-Noel set. I have that small die on my desk 24/7 as I use it so often.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share some fun new products with you! I hope you have a wonderfully creative day, Nanc’

Card Details: MFT-Tags, background stamp called Gerbera Daisy is from SSS, the sentiment is from Verve and the flower in the vase is from Gina K. I heat embossed the image in white and added a very quick coloring with Copics.

Congratulations

Hello, It’s the middle of January already, and time for the next Hues of Color at Color Hues. Julie is our wonderful hostess this time around and the colors that she selected are Silver and White. Such a nice clean combo but sometimes can be a bit tricky to photograph, especially if you use mirrored paper like I have. The lace-type floral background in the shape of a heart, that I have in the photo to show you, is an oldie but a goodie from SU called-Bloomin Heart. It always makes for a great wedding card.

I hope to see you over at Color Hues! We have lots of great inspiration from the Design Team and our talented guest Stephanie Lanzalotto is with us too! Welcome, Steph! I know you will be inspired!

I am linking up with the ladies over at Happy Little Stampers-Anything Goes with Dies.

Card Details: Every single die and or greeting on my card is from Stampin Up. I heat embossed the sentiment in silver. I have a few silver rhinestones too. Let me know if you have any questions.

Happy creating, Nanc’

Merry Christmas

Hello, Happy Monday! I had some time over the past week to make a couple of cards for the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Hop. This is something that is new to me. I heard about it over on their Build Your Stash Holiday Card FB Page. I have linked them both up for you! If you love making Holiday cards, you should check it out, and the hop of course! Did I mention there are prizes to be won! Details about my card are below!

Here is my second card. I put Bermuda Bay on the outside ring!

To this day it is still one of my favorite SU colors!

I am also going to join in over at the Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge. This is also a new challenge that you should definitely check out! The sweet ladies- Darlene and Diane started it along with their many other challenges.

Card Details: These colors were suggested by my good friend Carol, and I just love them together. These two wreath die-cuts belong to Carol as well and are from Simon Says Stamps. One is called Ornamental wreath and is sadly no longer available and the other is called Ring Wreath and I can still find it there. You have to have lots of patience if you want to really bring these to life by putting some color behind or on top of the openings. I decided that I would also add some foliage from SU at the top of the wreath in silver and white from the Forever Fern die set. The bow is also from SU (retired) and I like it but wish it was a bit bigger. The greeting is SU as well and heat embossed in silver.

Take care and I hope you have a great week! Nanc’

A New Technique

Hello there, Today over at Just Us Girls, Sue is our hostess and she always comes up with some fun techniques that I have never tried before. However, I usually am behind the eight ball on those types of things. This time she asks us to Heat Emboss Embossing Folders. If you have never done this technique before, here is a link by Jennifer McGuire. Thanks, Sue! I really enjoyed this!

I am joining in over at Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge and over at the Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge too. You should check them both out!

Card Details: My first attempt ended up in the trash, but I am really pleased with try number two, especially once I turned it into a card. I decided to use my Snowflakes embossing folder for my design. I used my entire piece of heat embossed card-stock and decided to put it as a backdrop too. The die-cut Ornament is from Stampin Up, the foliage at the top is from Spellbinders. The greeting is from Verve. Some Gold Nuvo drops and gold twine to finish it off.

Now come check out the rest of the cards from the Just Us Girls Design Team and our guest and join us! Nanc’

World Card Making Day!

Hi, This is my second post today as I wanted to be sure to make a card in honor of World Card Making Day. So this card is not for a DT commitment but designed and shared today for two challenges that caught my attention this week. It all started with the Color Throwdown fun fall colors and then I went searching for a fun sketch, and I chose the one over at Freshly Made Sketches. I hope it’s okay that I used gold as my neutral.

Here is a close up!

Card Details: You might as well just get use to the fact that these leaves from Stampin Up aren’t going away any time soon. Sorry…not sorry! LOL I started off sponging my vanilla card-stock with 3 different Oxide inks in beautiful fall colors and die cut them out. I used shimmery gold paper to die cut the outlines of the leaves next. Then I cut out the rest of the various leaves from SU-the Forever Fern die set. I gold heat embossed the greeting which is from MFT. The rounded corner dies are also MFT.

I sure appreciate you stopping by and I hope you enjoyed WCMD and you found some time to be creative. Nanc’
