Prayers

Hello Friends, Today’s card is for Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls . Lisa is our hostess and she has selected Masking for her challenge. This card was made for a friend of mine that had both parents in the hospital and on ventilators due to Covid. Sadly, her mom didn’t make it but I heard just a day or so ago that her dad is pulling through. I feel so bad for this family and their two young sons as their grandma was such a huge part of their lives. COVID stinks for so many! It makes me so grateful that my family and I are all healthy but makes me feel so sad and a bit guilty for those who are suffering or have suffered. I am going about my life rather normally and others are hurting so bad.

As for this card. It was very fun to do and I will do my best to explain the steps. First, I took three separate hearts that were cut out of acetate and carefully adhered them to my card base. I used the pool stencil from MFT to make the grey background using Oxide Inks. When I was done it reminded me of camouflage and I kinda liked it. Next, I removed two of the three hearts and lined up the negative piece, and worked on each heart one at a time. When I was working on the hearts I didn’t adhere them down at all (as I didn’t want to risk damaging the background) and had to be very careful while sponging. I had one part that I missed with the grey that I tried to go back and fix and unfortunately I made it much worse. My mom always said to leave well enough alone! I never learned that lesson. LOL Next, I noticed that the hearts weren’t very defined so I took a pencil and softly outlined the heart stencil to make them more apparent. Last, I decided to use the prayers die-cut and stamps from Hero Arts as I thought it would be perfect. I cut it out four times for added dimension.

This is quite and unusual pattern to use for a thinking of you or sympathy card but I love the way it turned out.

I hope you come over to Just Us Girls and play along with us.

Before I go I would like to thank Carol and Melanie for being such fabulous guests this month at JUGS. We really enjoyed all your creativity ladies and hope to see you back in the gallery again very soon.

Take care of yourselves, Nanc’

Hello…just a little something

Hello, I hope this post finds you well! Today over at The Paper Players it’s time for Sketch Week. I love sketches…do you? I feel they make the design come together so much faster as the template is made for you. Joanne has a fun one for us today! Please don’t look too closely at my card as I did a terrible job inking the sky and grass. I didn’t have the stamp set to make a mask with, so I was inking around the image as carefully as I could. I had borrowed this stamp from a friend and only stamped a few, and I didn’t want to waste one of these cute little bears on a mask that was going to get all inky.

Card Details: Bear is from Ellen Hutson, Flowers- Colossal Con-flowers in the background are from Gina K. (also given to me from a friend). The greeting is a mix of Gina K. (a little something) and (Hello) is Papertrey Ink. The sky -MFT stencil, the grass is also an old MFT die that I used to make a stencil. The tag, flowers, and rectangle dies are all MFT. The butterfly is a MS punch.

Come see what the rest of the fabulous Design Team did with this challenge, you truly will be inspired!

Soft and Subtle…

DSCN5076

JUGS175 DD#39

Over at the Dynamic Duos this week they have a great color palette of “Soft and Subtle.”

This week’s colors are Pink Pirouette and Pool Party. I adore soft colors!

The card was also linked up to a Sketch challenge over at Stamp TV and

a Masking Challenge over at JUGS!

If you don’t know how to/or what the heck masking is, you have to try it!!!

I have also linked up 2 great tutorials from SCS and Stamp TV for you to check out

which will help explain it better!

The bling added to the top off my card was sent to me from Jennie @ Stampin Away the Day.

I felt like I won the lottery when I received the package filled with Bling on Saturday!

Thanks so much Jennie!

Although, I have never met Jennie personally,

she is someone that made me feel so welcome when I first ventured down this road of Stamping,

and I so appreciate her kindness over the years!

Okay, I am off of work today and headed to the doctor to see what’s up with my throat!

Hope you have a great Monday friends,

Signature
