25 Dag of Christmas Tags

Hello, I have been really enjoying looking at all the tags for the 25 Days of Christmas Tags by the fabulous Tracey McNeely and her crew, and finally had some time today to join in the fun. It happens to be day 15 (better late than never) but my inspiration for my tags came from Day 6. My inspiration was from a few different tags from that day.  First, I like the look of the double tag from both Vicki and Shirley’s tags.  Next, I found a reindeer stamp as I thought Shirley’s was so adorable. Finally, I combined that idea with the word background of Sanna’s tag.

I had a happy accident when I was stamping.  I sponged all my backgrounds using Broken China for the sky. Then after I had stamped my first reindeer I accidentally smudged it with my fingers.  I decided to see what would happen if I continued to smudge the rest and I think they came out great.

Details: Tags, scalloped die, and background stencil are MFT, the scalloped edge is a SU punch. The reindeer stamp is a block stamp from Recollections. The hills are made from a Lawn Fawn die. The bows are from Paper Smooches. The sentiment is Verve.

If you haven’t checked out the 25 days of Christmas Tags I highly recommend it.  So much talent and inspiration.

(CASE)ing Genius One Year Anniversary Challenge!

DSC_0027

Hello Friends,  I am so happy to be finally posting this card that I have been working on for a few days for the CAS(E)ing Genius One Year Anniversary hosted by the ONE and ONLY Kelly Latevola, over at You and Your Big Dreams!  If you are not familiar with Kelly, boy…… you are definitely missing out!  I also would find that quite unusual, as she is all over blog land and UBER talented.  I know all of her classmates in Elementary School must have been super jealous of her coloring skills, even back then!  Here is what Kelly has asked us to do to help her celebrate her anniversary of the (CASE)ing Genius Series.

To participate, you simply CASE ONE of the genius ladies Kelly has listed in her challenge post.  I decided to CASE Kristie Goblet of  Kreative Kristie!  What is cool about Kristie, besides her Oh so fabulous work, and being a fan of hers for years and years now is, that I also fell in love with the over all design and depth of her letters on her header graphic on her blog, which I also cased (with my son’s help) to use as my header on my blog.  (She still wins in that department as well!) So technically you could say she has been CASED twice! LOL  Oh Yeah, I need to mention that there are PRIZES too!!!

Kelly also wants us to chose one crafter that we want her to CASE for a future {CASEing Genius} post.  This was not easy for me as I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings as there are SOOOO many talented crafters out there that I stalk on a regular basis.  With that said,  I decided to nominate someone that I have been following since DAY ONE and that would be Julee Tilman from Poetic Artistry.  I don’t think I have ever missed a post of Julee’s since at the very least 2006!  She never ceases to amaze me time after time!  She is so very talented, runs her own Stamping Company (Verve) and is a mom to twin 3 year old boys to boot!  Thanks for the years of inspiration Julee!

Here are some card details along with a photo of the card I am (CASE)ing!  I may even mention a few of my screw-ups along the way!

DSC_0023This is the background that I created to make my snowy scene behind my tree.  It’s white heat embossed snowflakes of all sizes following up with some sponging of Pool Party and Tempting Turquoise SU ink.  The tree covered up most of the Turquoise, now that I get a closer look.

The Tree die cut is from my school!  (Lucky Me)  The neighborhood border die is from Tailored Expressions and is something I have had for at least a year now and never opened…so thank you Kristie for helping me break that seal!  I couldn’t leave the windows and doors all see through, so I paper pieced them. The yellow windows means someone is home, which I ams sure you probably figured out! 🙂

Here was my big mistake…..You know that saying… leave sleeping dogs lie….well it goes for the crafting industry too.  I have three perfectly placed paper snow hills underneath that sparkle of glitter, and I sure wish I would have left alone!!  UGH!  Now it looks as if I took some glue and some glitter and just drew straight lines of snow.  😦  Trust me when I tell you they are there.  I cut them out with my old time Creative Memories cutting system that I LOVE!  You can see I used the same cutting system to make my arched sentiment border, which I also realized I left no room for when my card was finished. LOL   The sentiment is from SU. The bow is from my school again…LOVE it.  The glittery stars were made with the insides of my Verve Scalloped Trim Trio die.  Not sure I could live without this die!

Here is the wonderful card of Kristie’s that I CASED!  Along with one more look of my card!  Thanks for sticking with me for this long post!  I sure do appreciate it very, very much!  Happy Stamping,  Nanc’

Wild Card over at JUGS…

I am hosting this week over at JUGS …check it out!

JUGS snow

I decided to make our Wild Card a One Layer Winter Theme and

since half of the country is experiencing winter it worked out perfectly!

Even in sunny Florida, it’s going to go

 down to the 50’s tonight….Brrrrrrr…..LOL

I didn’t take step by step photos, I forgot…sorry!  However,

I do have a photo of what I used to make my rolling snow hills.

IMG_0001

I just varied the placement of my strips of paper and started at the top of my card and

worked my way down.   Then when I stamped my trees and my sentiment

I rocked my stamp ( of course I did)  and that’s why I have a thick layer of glittery snow

to try and cover my mistakes.  I intended to have the glittery snow much lighter.

All in all, I think it turned out okay.

The girls and I over at JUGS also want to give a shout out and a thank you to

Nancy Penir our Guest Designer this past month.

Another Merry Monday….

MM

This is what I did last night as I was waiting patiently for my son to come home from college.

MM New Look Sketches-018

I saw the colors that Lesley chose over at the Merry Monday Challenge and I knew I wanted to play along again.

I don’t usually make many Christmas Cards, because for the past 26 years that has been my husband’s job.

A job that he loves…BTW.  He is an artist for those of you that don’t know him and before I met him he

was making his own Christmas cards, and that tradition has continued.  We give out about 175+ cards each year.

That number is not a joke…I promise!  After Christmas I will make a post of a couple of my favorites!

Anyhoo, so this many Christmas cards is unusual for me, but I am really enjoying it!

Here are a few card details:

I used Swiss Dots and Victoria Cuttlebug Embossing folders.

The snowflake punch is MS.

Not overly happy with my ribbon, but wanted to tie in the brown from my pearls.

The very cool ornament shape is an Ellison Die from my school. Love it!

I am sure your tired of my Merry Christmas sentiment form Gina K…but it works well every time!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am so Thankful for each and everyone of you, you make me smile each and every day!
