Another Merry Monday….

MM

This is what I did last night as I was waiting patiently for my son to come home from college.

MM New Look Sketches-018

I saw the colors that Lesley chose over at the Merry Monday Challenge and I knew I wanted to play along again.

I don’t usually make many Christmas Cards, because for the past 26 years that has been my husband’s job.

A job that he loves…BTW.  He is an artist for those of you that don’t know him and before I met him he

was making his own Christmas cards, and that tradition has continued.  We give out about 175+ cards each year.

That number is not a joke…I promise!  After Christmas I will make a post of a couple of my favorites!

Anyhoo, so this many Christmas cards is unusual for me, but I am really enjoying it!

Here are a few card details:

I used Swiss Dots and Victoria Cuttlebug Embossing folders.

The snowflake punch is MS.

Not overly happy with my ribbon, but wanted to tie in the brown from my pearls.

The very cool ornament shape is an Ellison Die from my school. Love it!

I am sure your tired of my Merry Christmas sentiment form Gina K…but it works well every time!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am so Thankful for each and everyone of you, you make me smile each and every day!

Packing up the HEART of Christmas

Before Christmas is oh but a memory, I had to take a moment and share with all of you what my hubby made for all of us this year.  Before I show them to you, I need to give you a bit of history to make this more meaningful.  Ornaments in our home are the most sacred thing we own. I know I have mentioned in previous posts that they are in fact the very first item on our Hurricane Evacuation list.  Each ornament has it’s own box and is labeled by year and whom it is from, and is not stored in the attic but in our bedroom.  So with that said, for the last 20 years exchanging ornaments has been our family tradition, and we very recently have tried to see if we can out do one another.  This year I was bragging that my ornament to my hubby was going to be the best one by far, boy did I speak to soon.  My hubby made each one of the following ornaments out of clay. ❤  He didn’t make one…NOOOO he had to make 2 for each one of us!  LOL

This first one is for Ty…if you knew him, he’s so very passionate about all types of music, is constantly conducting with his hands,

would rather wear a tie than anything else, and was accepted into FSU for music.

He was completely touched when he opened this one…. as was I, and we both cried!

This one is for Hubby himself…he loves to work in his shed and carves wood like a pro!

I don’t know if you can tell but the wood he is holding spells snowman.

The next one is also for hubby and it’s a replica of him in the classroom…teaching ART.

Love his collared shirt!

Next, you have me sitting in my favorite place of all…behind my computer…

isn’t the keyboard and trackpad amazing!

The next one I literally cried when I opened it…it’s me showing off to hubby the cards I just made.

After I opened it….Dave said, “You always come in and show me two cards and ask me to pick which one I like best…..

So I had to make two of them.”

Look closely… one of them has glitter and a piece of string actually tied in a bow!

Can you believe it!

This last one is for Ty…he is a true Apple fan inside and out and has an apple laptop, iPod and iPad

and is currently saving for an iMac.

 The laptop opens up!

Now if that wasn’t enough….our son decided to make something himself.  Sniff sniff!

He snuck inside Dad’s shed while we were still at work before Christmas break.

The tag of the Christmas gift he gave me read:

To: A Mother so Precious

From:  A Son yearning for more time with her.

Inside the snowmen he made a clock face to represent his wish.

Dads read:

To: My Dear Father

From: A son wishing for more time with him.

Clock

I know I don’t need to tell you that I cried AGAIN!

This Holiday Season was wonderful and will be very tough to beat!

So as I pack up my HEART this Christmas, and with my son already back at college,

I can look back at this year and remember the special moments we had!

Thanks for sticking with me for this long post!

Oh yeah you are probably curious about the ornament I bought for hubby…… well ….I didn’t win as I had hoped

and I have declared a distant 3rd place this year.

Here it is:

Isn’t he the cutest thing you have ever seen?  My hubby LOVED it!  He is such a softy!

Here are a couple of photos showing our reactions to the gifts:

Traditions

I realize Christmas is over, but I was messing with my settings on my blog today to get my photos to be a appropriate size and needed to post to see if it worked.  This adorable ornament was a gift from my son to my hubby and myself this Christmas.  The cool thing about him is that Tyler bought him in London last Christmas and saved it to give to us this year.  It has become our family tradition to buy an ornament for each other, that might not sound that special to you, but it means more to us than you realize. After Christmas each one of our ornaments gets put in a special box and labeled from whom and to whom and what year it was received.   If we ever have the need to pack the house for a hurricane it is on the top of the evacuation list of things to grab!  NOT KIDDING!!

Sorry for the long post just wanted to share this tradition and hope to inspire someone else to start a family tradition too!

Enjoy the rest of your Holiday,
