Aloha

Aloha, Happy Monday! The blog has been a tad on the quiet side as of late as I had eye surgery last week called, Laser Iridotomy. What it that…you ask? Angle closure Glaucoma is when the iris blocks fluid from leaving the front of the eye as it should. Pressure in the eye rises and the Optic nerve could be damaged and if left untreated it can be very dangerous and cause blindness. Mine was a rather rush job. They only did one eye for now and I will have to have the other one done at a later date, as it’s not as bad and is not quite ready. Unfortunatley this may NOT be a one and done type of thing as the hole could close back up. Let’s hope it lasts for a while. The procdure itself wasn’t bad, but the rest of the day and evening it was a bit uncomfortable as you would expect. The next day was so much better!

Okay onto the real reason you came by…Tropical is the challenge over at Time Out and of course I knew I had to play along. Hubby and I and the fam had talked about going to Hawaii this summer and unfortunately with the price of airfare and such we decided not to go. I hate that one of my characteristics is being practical. So I decided to dream about it in paper form. Maybe we will try and go sometime this fall if the price of things starts to recede again, we shall see.

I am going to add another last minute entry over at Addicted to Stamps and More for their Make Your Mark Challenge as well.

Card Details: Polynesian Paradise stamps-MFT. Stitched Hill dies-Lawn Fawn, Plam Tree is also MFT. I used Copics with a touch of Prismas to color. I used Oxide inks for my blue background. As I still am not very good with Copics I tried to used a white pen to give some highlights in her hair and hula skirt. Not an idea that I will repeat. LOL All in all still a fun card! That turtle just makes me smile.

I hope you get to do something today that makes you smile and brings you JOY, Nanc’

Deck the Palms

Hello, Happy Monday! YAY! I have finally started my Christmas cards and all thanks to CAS Christmas being back up in running again. They gave me just the kick in the pants I needed. Plus, I have another blogging friend joining that talented team. I was so happy to see the Lisa Elton announcement. Congrats Lisa! They are lucky to have you!

When I started this card I had intentions of putting just a small group of leaves around my image to form a wreath. I may have gotten a bit carried away, but I just didn’t like it when the wreath wasn’t full. So it may not qualify as CAS enough and I totally understand if it doesn’t.

I am also going to link up over at Addicted to Stamps and More for their Make Your Mark Challenge. They just celebrated their 10th Birthday so a big Congrats to them!

Card Details: Stamped image and greeting are from Newton’s Nook-Sun Soaked Christmas, the wreath was formed with a die from Sizzix-Spring Foliage. I used Copics and Prismas to color, and a bit of Oxide ink to make a blue sky. I did it last and I didn’t ruin it! LOL I also have Nuvo drops with glitter on my stockings. Red glitter paper for my berries.

I hope you do something today that brings you JOY! Take care, Nanc’

Favorite Technique at STB

Hello there, It’s Thursday and time for the next topping at Seize the Birthday! Lovely Ashwini is our hostess and has asked us to use our Favorite Technique for this challenge. Ashwini is a huge help to me at STB as she makes all of our challenge graphics and I hope she knows how much I appreciate it.

I love this topping and although there are a few other techniques I dabble in, my all-time favorite is stenciling and most significantly making my own backgrounds. So no surprise, that is what I have for you here today.

I am also playing along at Happy Little Stampers for their Anything Goes Stencil Challenge.

Card details: I used my Miss Ink- Heart Cloud Stencils, MFT-cloud stencil, and my favorite dragon of all time and sentiment, also from MFT. A few sequins and some Copics/Prismas and I was done.

What is your favorite technique when it comes to card making? I would love it if you would show us and join us in the gallery this week at Seize the Birthday!

Take care and I hope you do something today that brings you JOY! Nanc’

To My Beautiful Friend

Hello, I hope your week is off to a decent start. LeAnne is the hostess this week at The Paper Players and as soon as I saw her sketch I wanted to play along. I love Sketches that have three elements on them and a dividing line. I had this fun blue piece of cardstock in my large stockpile of scraps just waiting to be used and it was the start of my color palette for this card. It was run through a crimper some time ago to give it that texture. I know I am the one that did it, but do you think I can find my crimper now? Nope! I sure hope I didn’t get rid of it. I love the look!

Here is a close-up!

I am also going to link my card up over at Happy Little Stampers -Anything Goes with Dies.

Card Details: Playful Peacock set is from MFT. The two stitched flowers are also from MFT, as is the ric-rac die. I used Copics and just a hint of Prismas for my medium. Crimper for texture on the blue cardstock.

Thanks for dropping by, I am off for a craft date with some friends today! Hope you get to do something fun that brings you joy! Nanc’

Sealiously

Hello, I am back with a card today for “just me” and it also happens to be for the latest Freshly Made Sketch Challenge going on. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to play along. As I mentioned a few days ago, I am determined to do more coloring when I am sitting down to create, as I do enjoy it so much. It just takes time, and sometimes we have to make time for the things that we enjoy, don’t we? Plus I am not going to get better at it if I don’t practice.

Card Details: Sunny Studios-Sealiously Sweet Summer stamp set, Copics and Prismas to color. I am hoping the small splashes of water that come in that set are looking like watermelon seeds, because that is what I was going for.

I hope you had an enjoyable day, however you chose to spend it. If you’re looking for a challenge to play along in with a ton of inspiration…try Karren’s sketch at FMS! Take care, Nanc’

Sending You Sunshine

Hello, I hope you are doing well today! I can honestly say that the card I am sharing today, I actually am pretty happy with. That doesn’t happen all that often, so I have to acknowledge it when it does. LOL Hopefully, the recipient knows how much love I put behind making it for her, and I pray it brings her sunshine every time she sees it. I am going to be linking up this cute kitty over at Addicted to Stamps and More for their Any Occasion Challenge.

A Few Card Details: Cat, bee, flower, and sentiment are all from MFT, and the sun is from Lawn Fawn. I sponged the background with Oxide inks and colored the images with Copics and Prismas. Finished it off with white splatters of paint. The inside panel is in-laid in case you can’t tell. I saw this color combo over on Pinterest and I thought it looked great together. Who says a sky has to be blue?

Here is a close-up.

I hope however you spend your day you are doing something that brings you joy! Thanks for dropping by, Nanc’

Smile

Hello, I had a chance yesterday afternoon to play in the studio for just me! No DT commitments or chores to be done and it felt so good. I hope to do more of this in the near future as we all need a little “me time” in our lives. When I decided I wanted to do some coloring I reached for my favorite dragon stamp from MFT. Next, I decided to go check out MFT’s Color Challenge and or Sketch Challenge to see if they would spark some creativity and they certainly did the trick. So I will be entering my card in both of their challenges.

Here is a close-up of Mr. Dragon. He just makes me smile. I also realized while writing up this post that I have one extra horizontal layer on my sketch and I hope it’s okay.

Card Details: MFT products- Dragon, Both Cloud dies, and the Smile die. I used Copics and a tiny bit of Prismas for my medium. The DSP is from SU. I added a few star sequins and ran my small clouds through a SU snowflake EF for some added texture. I pieced two pieces of cardstock together to make my greeting. The dragon and small clouds have multiple layers for some depth.

I certainly enjoyed both of these challenges! Take care and I hope whatever you do this weekend it will bring you a bit of JOY. Nanc’

Love You-Valentine

Hello, I am back yet again with another card, and this time it’s a Valentine for my sweet hubby! Hopefully, he won’t decide to visit my blog in the next couple of weeks. This time I am playing along with my sweet friends over at The Paper Players. I knew what stamp set I wanted to use and as soon as I saw Jaydee’s sketch an idea came to mind. Thanks, Jaydee!

Here is a close-up so you can see the glossy accents that I put on the red hearts.

Going to join in the Addicted to Stamps and More Make your Mark Challenge too.

Card Details: The gnome stamp is from Whimsy Stamps, the heart envelope is a stamp from Verve, the love die is from Gina K Designs. I used Prismas and Copics as my medium. I used Glossy accents for my hearts to give them some shine.

I hope you are enjoying your day and finding some time to be creative, Nanc’

Snowman Birthday

Hello, Today’s card is for Photo Week over at Just Us Girls where Lisa E. is our fabulous hostess. She picked the cutest and most perfect photo for us that encaptures both winter and Valentine’s Day. My card was made for my BIL that loves the snow and has a birthday right after Christmas.

I am also linking up over at- Happy Little Stampers Die Challenge where it’s Anything Goes with Dies.

Card Details: The snowman is from Pretty Pink Posh, the trees are brand new to me and are MFT, the hills were made with Lawn Fawn dies. The sentiment is from Verve and the speech bubble is from SU. I used Oxide inks for my background and Copics and Prismas to color my trees. I am super happy with my trees and the entire card, actually! This card was inspired by this on here!

Now, head on over to Just Us Girls as the team and our guests have done an INCREDIBLE job with this photo! I know you will be inspired!
