Color my world with family, friends and some time to be creative making cards!

Retro Sketches

RS189Hello Friends, As soon as I saw this sketch over at Retro Sketches this week I knew I wanted to play along!  I was intrigued by the diagonal lines in the background and I knew I could achieve that look with some of my polka dotted ribbon that lately had been ignored and was collecting dust on my desk.  I also am still head over heals for this new stamp set that I have used a lot lately….sorry about that.  It’s called Bouquet For You and is from Stampendous.  I also wanted to break out my new (I should say OUR new, as I have to share with hubby) Faber Castell- Polychromo colored pencils and give some coloring another try.  Mind you, in hindsight, I should not have colored the jar the same color as my water ….but a girl has to make some mistakes to move onward and upward. Right?  I am no Kelly Latevola….but I am sure aspiring to be!

I hope you have a wonderful day and I sure do love your visits!  Nanc’

ispy a Great Sketch and A Pink Elephant!

I know a Great Sketch when I see it and this one was right up my alley!  ispy Sketches is such a great starting point if you need help getting the mojo flowing!  I flipped my card, but left the layout alone. I decided to include a piece of my favorite design paper in my design!  Speaking of DP…the challenge over at the Pink Elephant is to include DP in your project.  How easy peasy is that? ( sorry it’s hanging out with kiddos all day that makes me talk like that)  I don’t know what I am going to do when I have none of my DP left.  You should see me trying not to waste an inch.  Please tell me you do that with some of your precious paper?   Anyhoos…  The card details are pretty very simple not to much to explain… layered some 3 different colors of cardstock, and used my favorite MS punch for the lacey look at the bottom.  The sentiment I just got from Verve this week.  Love it!  A flower and ribbon accent and there you have it!

Hope your day is Stupendous and please stop on by both blogs and check them out!

Hang in There

Hang in there is about all we can do some days and today was one of those days!   Just when you think you have it bad you always can stop and reflect and think of someone else that needs your prayers and some compassion more than you do.  I have a very, very good friend who is battling cancer right now and just got through a Major operation.  Hubby and I have been taking him meals and visiting him as often as we can, but I decided yesterday to make him this card to lift his spirits.  Making a Masculine card is a bit challenging for me to say the least.  This one came together based on a sketch over at JUGS.  I don’t know if I will be disqualified for adding the gems all the way around the card…but I couldn’t leave just two. 🙂  Let me explain a little bit about the stamping.  I took my image and first stamped it with some Tim Holtz Distress ink and then took a white prisma colored pencil to add some highlights.  Finished it off with my butterfly also colored with pencils and a ribbon.  The sentiment is from Verve!

Have a wonderful day!

Well since I had the day off from school due to a potential Hurricane I decided to use my time wisely and hang out in my studio for part of the day.  I managed to make 4 cards and 4 scrapbook pages and the night is still young! 🙂  This card is for 3 different challenges.  Seems to be a pattern I have been doing lately.  Love when I can incorporate more than one challenge.   Okay, so the first one is a sketch challenge over at Sweet Sunday, the second is for a color challenge over at The Play Date Cafe, and last but not certainly not least is a banner challenge over at Casual Fridays.  The sentiment is from the Dollar bin at Michaels.  The buttons were made with a new die I got from My Favorite Things.

Hope you have a great evening!

Thanks for stopping by,

Missing in action!

I am so sorry for the lack of posts!  As you may or may not have figured out, I went back to work this week and to say that I came home exhausted would be an understatement.  I never knew my thigh muscles could hurt so bad!  It’s time to get in shape!  Now, I need to figure out how to manage work, being creative, and my blog posting again!  The kids start back tomorrow…so wish me luck!  Now, onto the real reason you stopped by!  This card was based on the sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches and the color scheme that was chosen for me is from Flourishes color challenge.  Yesterday I went over to Michael’s and picked up a new embossing folder called Juli’s Garden that now comes with a coordinating border.  Isn’t that cool!  So that’s the border you see on the side of my card!  Couldn’t stop there had to use my dots too!   The leaves and the swirls were made with my cricut.

Have a great start to the work week…and thanks for your patience since I was MIA!

Happy Bird-day to You…

Hello Stampin Friends,  I’m back today to share with you a card I made today while it was raining outside!  It is so nice to work in my studio in front of the window as the ran is coming down.  The stamp set I used today is something I picked up while at a Stampfest back in February.  I sure enjoy using it and don’t know why I don’t use it more often!  It is called Happy Birday and is made by Darcies.

Isn’t that birdy paper so cute?   The dotted paper was made with a stamp.

The card’s colors where chosen for this week’s Color Throwdown.

They are celebrating their 200th challenge and are offering some blog candy, so you need to go check it out!

The sketch I followed is for Freshly Made Sketches#43.

As always I so appreciate your wonderful comments!

Take care,

Crazy for Ribbon…

After a trip to the beach with My Hubby, I went straight away to my studio to make this card for two challenges that I wanted to partake in!  My card follows the very Unique Sketch challenge over at ispy sketches.  This is such a great site to go to when you are looking for a Good sketch, what I like is that they think outside the box!  Do you have a lot of ribbon in your craft space?  Well, I have my fare share…so when I saw the challenge over at Stamp TV to use 4 different colors of ribbon on your project…I thought…. I can so do that!  The sentiment is from Stamp TV as well….it’s called Say it With Flowers!

Hope you have a fantastic day and thanks so much for stopping by to say hi!

Rainy Day time to Play

So far we have gotten over 7 inches of rain here in Sunny Florida.  OK enough already!  This girl likes playing in her studio and all, but would really like to mix it up a bit and add some beach time in there.  Well, hopefully this Tropical Storm Debby will make up her mind and move on.  Okay, so now onto what I have been up to today!  Every time one of my siblings turns 50 I make them a scrapbook album of their life from birth to 18….well my brother turns 50 this year in December so it’s time to get this major project underway.  When I did both of my sister’s albums I started in January and February so needless to say I am behind.  That would not be a problem if I was a fast scrapbooker, which I am not!  Also, have found that since I started making cards I am not very good at it either.  To think I started scrapbooking over 15 years ago and now I am afraid to make a page. Geez!!!  Well here is the started page of his album and I will probably go bak later and enhance it somehow because it’s kinda of plain.  This album will prove more difficult than my sisters….when all else failed on theirs, I could just add flowers.  Don’t think that would fly with the bro!

This page was inspired from a sketch challenge over at Unscripted Sketches.  The sky is the limit over at US, so why don’t you join me?

It’s also the color challenge over at The Play Date Cafe.  They always have great colors to motivate you!

Love Blue and Black together…don’t you?

The photo isn’t the best…I am use to taking my photos outside and well that is not an option today!

Enjoy the rest of your day.

I’ve been thinking about you…

Wow two days in a row I actually have a post. WooHoo!  The card today is for one of my new favorite challenge blogs….iSpy Sketches.  If you haven’t stumbled upon them like I have you need to go check them out HERE!  I loved the sketch and couldn’t wait to join in again!   I used that wonderful paper pack La Creme just like yesterday!!!  Love it!  The sentiment you can find over at Stamp TV and it’s called Enjoying the Sunshine.

Hope you have a fantabulous day,

Hello Friend

Hello my internet Friends…It’s been a few weeks since I have had a chance to play along with Freshly Mades Sketches and am so glad I didn’t miss this Great Sketch # 30.  I am very pleased with the finished product and I don’t get to say that to often.  It doesn’t hurt to have a beautiful paper pack to start with to get my mojo started.  It’s called La Creme and it’s by DCWV and I absolutely love it!  I can’t take credit for the majority of the black flowers…they are already on the paper and are raised and feel like felt… cool!!!   I added the other flowers to make it more fancy and more my own!  Hope you like it!  Couldn’t have completed it without my MS punches since my Cricut is broken and on it’s way back to Provo Craft to see if they can fix it.  I must say they are a great company to work with and have been very helpful!  Hope it comes back in working order and very soon!

Have a great week,
