Sponging!

Vicki has a great one for us,  she asked us to incorporate sponging onto our card and or project! I had such a fantastic time making this card!  I decided to get out one of my neglected Gina K Design stamps to attack this challenge. (Out West 2) The waving wheat is a block stamp from Stampabilities. This card was made about a month ago for a very dear co-worker that retired and has a huge love of horses, as she has two herself.  If you have any questions on how I made this, just let me know! You can also check out some videos like I did from the talented Theresa Momber, and she will get you started! She has so much talent! Please come on over to Just Us Girls and check out the rest of the cards from our very talented team and Guest Designer Carol Mayne.  On a side note… My hubby and I took a red-eye home from Seattle Yesterday, so to say I am still a bit tired is an understatement.  I don’t know about you, but I can’t sleep on airplanes.  So between the 55+ miles we walked in a week’s time, the 3 hour time difference, and some serious jet lag (as the computer seems to be swaying) I don’t know which way is up. LOL  Not to mention, saying goodbye to Ty always puts me in a tail spin for at least a few days. We had such a wonderful time with both Ty and Sandra (his fiance’) and hope it’s not to long before we are all reunited once again.

Hope you have a fabulous day! Laundry and grocery shopping is in my future…How about you?  Nanc’

Don’t you just wish you were in that Balloon?

I am afraid of heights, but it still looks beautiful!  Love those colors too!

I wanted to make my own cloud background so I watched this great video from Gina K.

I have done this technique before, however I loved the way she stamped it while

it was inside the Nestie.  I thought it was a brilliant idea!

Let’s talk about my added cloud for a minute… I cut out a cloud from a piece of

DP that actually had clouds on it.  I decided to use that as my pattern to sponge around.

When I was finished getting it all inky around the edges, I loved the way it looked so

much that I decided to incorporate it into my layout.  Love when things like that happen.

I paper pieced parts of the balloons and added the banners and string!

I paired it up with this great sketch over at Seize the Sketch!

STS-#16

The rest of the JUGS team, along with our March Guest Designer Calypso Basitan,

have some fantastic samples to get your inspiration going,

so head on over to the Just Us Girls blog and check out what they have created.

Then put your creative juices to work and add your card/project

to the challenge post on the JUGS blog for the chance to be chosen

as the Chic of the Week.  Plus if you are chosen as Chic of the Week,

you could be invited to be our Guest Designer.

GOOD LUCK!

Hope to see you there!

My hand at Sponging a background…

Well, it was about time I tackled Theresa Momber’s gorgeous sponging technique to make a background and stop saying someday I want to try this.  Well, the someday was yesterday!  I came across this Inspiration photo challenge over at FYI and knew their was also a deadline approaching over at Stamp TV for sponging,  so I decided to combine the two challenges and this is what I came up with.  Well, certainly you can tell that I need some more work.   A couple of the colors on the edges got darker than I wanted them to, and I have a line where the horizon meets the clouds that is probably not necessary, but hey I am a newbie at this!  However, I am very pleased for my first attempt.

I took my inspiration for my mountains from the sky in the photo.  I didn’t use the orange and substituted pink instead.

The sentiment is from Timeless Treasures over at Stamp TV.

I challenge you to try something you have been procrastinating!!!

 Good luck!
