More LOVE!

DSC_0008

kissing boothHello Again,  Yes this card is very similar to a previous post of a week or so ago, but I am hooked on this awesome heart template from MFT what can I say. I also wanted to sneak in under the wire and link up to the challenge going on at Curtain Call. I do not own any kissing stamps, however my card was inspired by the colors of the banners in the photo!  Lights and darks combined.  Here is a little bit about this die.  The Fluttering Hearts Cover-Up is a beautiful and inventive Die-namics that will cut a four by six grid of hearts, leaving the centerlines intact. It is so much fun and I am so glad I got it! The letters were cut out on my Big Shot using dies from SU. The small hearts are made with a punch.

Hope you have a wonderful day and just a warning you may see this die cut once or twice again! 😉

I Love You!

DSC_0023

DIH_Feb2015Hi Friends,  I have decided that I LOVE making Valentine cards!  I wish I would have started making these at least a month ago.  I don’t know if it’s the colors, the sentiments, or the hearts… whatever it is I am hooked!  As soon as I saw the February challenge over at the Verve Blog, I knew I would be partaking a few times at least!  On this particular card I did not use Verve Stamps, however that is okay with them…I Love that about them!  I have had both the scalloped circle and the heart laying on my studio desk for quite sometime and decided that would be a good starting point.  The background was made with these really cool heart stamps that I have had forever!  I am so sorry, but I have no idea who makes them as I have taken them out of the package and put them in a CD case.  I know I got them at Michaels so they maybe Recollections.  There is 6 of them and they all have a different pattern. In hindsight I wish I would have stamped them in a color pattern, rather then the way I did.  Oh well! The bow was made with the SU bow punch. The victorian edges down the tops and sides of the card seems to be “My thing” and I do that with my Fiskars cutter.  The I love you sentiment is from Recollections and the inside reads… with all of my heart.  I added some sparkly hearts and stars and I was done!  A very quick card for me!   Go and check out all the talent over at The Verve Blog…you won’t be disappointed, rest assure!

Until tomorrow…I am off to make more Valentines since it’s raining cats and dogs at the moment.  Nanc’

LOVE is the Word

DSC_0445

Screen Shot 2015-01-18 at 12.56.20 PMHello Friend, It’s February and Cheryl has the perfect word for you this week over at Just Us Girls.  Yes the word is LOVE!  This can be interpreted in a variety of different cards and or projects so don’t think you have to make a valentine like I did.  Yours just needs to represent LOVE in one way or another.  I think I am the only one on the DT that didn’t put the word LOVE directly on my card, however I have done that in my last two posts and I think you have seen enough of that word for a week at least…wink wink!

The embossing folder is SU and the sentiment and arrow is from recollections …I do believe.

I am also entering this over at the Muse Challenge where my buddy Vicki is the star Muse.  She is so versatile…she tries everything!

CAS(E) LOVE YOU!

DSC_0469

CTS_108Happy Monday,  Hope you had a great weekend.  I have another card for you today using a “NEW to ME” item from MFT that I have wanted forever and finally got!  They have been out of stock for a while now and I was thrilled to seem them back!  It’s the rectangle stitched dies that everyone else has had forever.  I know you are probably thinking that they are not that exciting, but they are to me!! Even my hubby thought I was crazy to be this excited about them.  He’s like….” That’s it, that is all they do?” Oh well, it’s the little things right?  I saw the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch and I knew I wanted to join in the fun.  I came across this paper and I thought it mimicked the stripes perfectly!  Also,  I warned you a few days ago that you will be seeing a lot of these SU letter dies….and here they are again! I staggered two pieces of cardstock to match the sketch and a scalloped SU punch.  Then I used some alphabet stamps to stamp the YOU and some pop dots!

Thanks for stopping by, it truly makes my day!  Nanc’

LOVE@ the Card Concept

DSC_0460

27Hi Friends,  Over at the Card Concept they have a great photo inspiration challenge going on.  I LOVE making cards with Hearts on them no matter whether they are Valentine, Anniversary or what not, so I wanted to make sure I found sometime to play along.  Plus, I got the coolest die-cut ever in the mail on Friday from My Favorite Things and I was so excited to use it.  I think it is AWESOME!!!! Here is a little bit about it. The Fluttering Hearts Cover-Up is a beautiful and inventive Die-namics that will cut a four by six grid of hearts, leaving the centerlines intact. This design allows you to gently bend up each side of the heart to reveal pops of color that are layered underneath.  Whoever thought of this is BRILLIANT I say! I also got another goodie that I will show to you soon. It’s new to me, but been around blogland for ages. I have linked the die up for you if you want to have a look.  I also have used my Stampin UP letter dies again. Warning, you will be seeing these A LOT…A LOT.  I am addicted what can I say!  The inside sentiment is stamped with a Heidiswap stamp I picked up at Michaels last week.  I LOVE it too.

My card style for this one is Clean and Layered for sure!

Here is the inside of the card!

Trend Week @ JUGS!

DSC_0044Screen Shot 2014-11-11 at 4.05.27 PMIt’s Trend week at Just Us Girls and have we got great one for you!  Mixed media!  Now don’t be scared it really can be as easy or complicated as you want to make it.  Check out the graphic for some explanations and requirements.  It’s really late and this post goes live in a few minutes so I am going to explain my card rather quickly!  First, I took my watercolor SU pen and 3 colors and randomly colored my watercolored paper.  Then I took my Script stamp and some Brown Gina K ink and stamped on my watercolored paper. Next, I took my glossy SU cardstock and Verve heart stamp and stamped and heat embossed my hearts with clear embossing powder.  Then took the same 3 colors of SU ink and colored over the hearts and then wiped the cardstock so the hearts would appear.  I assembled my card and added a few (Verve) small heart stamps and the arrow and I Love You (from Recollections). Wasn’t happy with the look I was trying to achieve so I decided to give the card a white wash with some Gesso.  Then I took my Gina K Brown ink and inked up some of the edges and front of the card as well.  I got carried away with the brown and came back with my original 3 colors and my watercolored brush and lightened it up in a few places.   Well,  that was probably more info then you even cared to read, but since it was Mixed Media challenge I thought an explanation was in order so you can see all the steps I actually did to achieve this look.  I so enjoyed the process!

I would also like to welcome Lee Ann Barrett as our Guest Designer this week at Just Us Girls.  Please come on over an join us and see what the talented team did with this challenge.  Who knows if you win our Chic of the Week you may also be chosen as a Guest designer with us in the future!

Have a great weekend and see you at JUGS!  Nanc’

Inked Die Cuts

IMG_0002

Hi Friends,

Over at Just Us Girls today Sue V has challenged us to a great Technique.

Screen Shot 2014-01-24 at 7.30.30 PM

It’s called Inked Die Cuts and you can find a helpful video right HERE!

Isn’t her card wonderful!!!

If you just can’t get the hang of it, she is offering an alternate technique,

to sponge ink on the die cut while it is still in the die to shade around

your image or sentiment and give you a clean white/light border.

So are you up for the challenge?

I kept it clean and simple this week, but really enjoyed trying something new!

I used a Colorbox pigment ink called Treasure to ink up my spellbinders oval die.

I had to give it a second go around as I had ink everywhere

but on the die the first time around.  LOL

The heart EF is from Stampin UP.

The sentiment and arrow is from Michaels.

Now here are the links to get you started!

And don’t forget to visit Melissa….our Guest Designers blog too!

Die Cut Crazy Blog Hop

DCC FebBlogHop

Welcome to the Die Cut Crazy Magazine Valentine Blog Hop.

If you just joined our hop, be sure and go back to the Die Cut Crazy Magazine Blog

to learn how you can enter to win a prize

when following the hop from designer to designer.

My holiday project I am sharing today is….a Valentine card!

IMG_0015

BTW…My card is a little oversized and measures 4 3/4 x 5 1/2.

The first thing I did was cut out a 4 inch heart with my Cricut.

The next step was to make (6 ) 2 1/4 slits down the center of the hearts

with a Xacto knife approx. 3/4 inches apart.

IMG_0002

Then I cut out 4 strips of ivory card stock 5/8″ wide…length doesn’t matter.

Now, the fun part it’s time to weave.

IMG_0004

Here I just trimmed off to the size I wanted and put a tiny bit of glue on the

ends to keep them in place.

IMG_0007

Here is another view.

IMG_0014

The scalloped border was something from Creative Memories that I bet I have had for 8 years.

I added the Ivory victorian border that was cut with my Fiskars cutter.

The sentiment is from Gina K Designs along with the Spellbinders fancy tag.

Added a ribbon and some pop dots and I was done.

Thanks for stopping by the Die Cut Crazy Magazine Holiday Blog Hop.

I hope my project inspires you to create your own Valentine card and or project.

Please leave a comment to let me know you have stopped by.

Next up in the hop is Melissa. Go see the amazing project she has prepared for you to enjoy!

TPE227

Here is a little info on my card!

The heart shape was cut out with my Creative Memories cutter.

The sentiment is something I picked up at Michaels or a local store.

The Dp is my new Valentines pack of Recollections paper. LOVE IT!

I stamped my tic tac toe letters and then shaded them in with colored pencil.

I also lightly shaded around the perimeter of my heart.

The heart embossing folder is from Stampin Up…LOVE IT TOO!

I distressed the edges of the papers, punched out a heart

and added the flowers, the gems and dotted ribbon!

Please come by Just Us Girls and join us this week!

Enjoy your weekend and find some time to be creative

and watch a little football!  Go Broncos!

Clean and Simple….X 2

IMG_0001

Hope your weekend is going well!

Horribly cloudy and chilly here…so I took that as a sign that

I should hang out this afternoon in my studio …and that is what I did! 🙂

Today’s card is for 2 challenge blogs that are both looking for Clean and Simple Designs this week.

Stamp TV and Addicted to Stamps and More!

GINA K

blog badge

Although the card is definitely CAS…it still took me quite a while to do,

because of all the fussy cutting and shading with colored pencil.

Love this stamp set by Gina K Designs!

I just picked up this Recollections Valentine Paper pack from Michaels last night!

Hope you find time to be creative too…it’s good for the soul,

Nanc’
