Tinsel Time

Hello, I am back again today with another Christmas card using the train and sentiments that are part of the Tinsel Time Collection. from Spellbinders. I hope you are enjoying seeing all my Christmas in August cards as much as I am enjoying making them. The tiny ornaments/bows and presents are also such a great addition to this set!

I thought about this card the longest as I wanted to do something a bit unexpected with the train. I think the cream and silver look so elegant together and I love the way it turned out. The piece of striped vellum I found in my stash was the final key that helped pull this card together.

Tinsel Time Sentiments

Spellbinders 6

Card Details: The darling train and cute ornaments and gifts are called the Holiday Express Etched Dies. The Tinsel Time greeting can be found in the Tinsel Time Sentiments set. I used a snowflake embossing folder from SU for the top of my card. The striped vellum I have had in my stash for eons and is also from SU. I used a strip of mirrored paper to divide my panels. The train engine window has a piece of vellum over it. The glitter paper really made this card come to life as well. I have dimensionals under my greeting.

Over at Simon Says Stamps they have a challenge starting today that is Christmas and they also are featuring Spellbinders products too. I will be linking my train up over there as well.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day! Nanc’

Silver and Gold

Hello, It is the middle of the month, and time for the next hues of color at Color Hues. Sweet Carol has chosen a color combo that might make you break out in song… it does me anyway! LOL Silver and Gold! As you know, mirrored paper is hard to photograph.

Card Details: This was a very quick and easy card. The Noel die is from Spellbinders the Music paper is actually vellum and cut out with my postal die from Hero Arts. Some ribbon and I was done.

You have to come by Color Hues and check out my fabulous DT’s cards and see how they sparkle and shine,

Take care, Nanc’

Black and White-Wedding Card

Hello there! I needed a wedding card and when I saw the challenge that Vicki chose for us this week at Just Us Girls I knew it would be perfect. I made a card similar to this one a few months ago and it was well received so I thought I would try it again. You can find it HERE!

Card Details: I have always been a huge fan of these old SU flowers. The sets that the flowers came from are called Flower Shop and Petite Petals. I paired them with some of the elements of the new Forever Fern stamps and dies. The greeting is from SU as well. I used white embossing powder on vellum with a grey back for my flowers and then white on white for the smaller centers of the flowers. These flowers compliment each other perfectly. Some gems for the centers. The DSP came from Hobby Lobby and I am using every scrap. Made the circle with a couple of Sizzix dies, and the victorian edge is done with my Fiskers cutter.

I hope you will stop on over to Just Us Girls and see what the fabulous team did this week along with our guest Claire!

Take care, Nanc’

White, Gray and Navy with Vellum

Hello, I hope your week is off to a great start! I just love the color combo going on this week at TGIF Challenges. The colors are so soothing and they inspired me to make a sympathy card that I needed for my hubby’s cousin whom just lost her hubby to cancer. Such a terrible and sudden shock as we didn’t know he was sick. I assume those were his wishes.

Card Details: It was time to give some of my older SU stamps some love. I have always been a huge fan of these flowers. The sets that the flowers came from are called Flower Shop and Petite Petals. I paired them with some of the elements of the new Forever Fern stamps and dies. The greeting is from Verve. The tag die is from MFT. I used white embossing powder on vellum for my flowers and then white on navy for the smaller centers of the flowers. These flowers do not come in the same set but compliment each other perfectly. Some gems for the centers. The dotted background paper is that stash I talk about all the time from SU that has a pattern on it and resists ink. So I took my Smoky Slate SU ink and inked it up. Then I wiped it off with a towel just like an emboss resist and the dots come through. I used the same grey ink to ink my SU leaves as well.

I had a hard time photographing this card and it looks much better in real life.

Thanks for all the visits as they really brighten my day!

Take care! Nanc’

Hi

Hello, Happy Saturday! It’s Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Vicki has a pretty one for us! It’s all about Spring Time!

When I sat down to make my card I was trying to mimic the graphic as I loved the florals in the opposite corners so much. I had all my mix of flowers and leaves die-cut and couldn’t seem to get the placement right, so I ended up wrapping them in a a piece of vellum instead. I don’t own a die-cut I just messed around with some copy paper and made myself a pattern. Still not 100 % satisfied but it had to do. The Hi die-cut letters are new to me and they are from Pink Fresh Studio and are called Kelly Alpha.

I am also going to be linking up over at Time Out Challenges where the challenge is inspired by words. Nothing says April or Spring more than a bouquet of flowers that came from a garden.

We have to say farewell to Shawna, as today is her last post with us! We have really enjoyed having you on board.

Take care and I hope to see you all at Just Us Girls this week showing off your Spring! Nanc’

A Little Thanks

I have a quick CAS card for you today that is a CASE and not my design but something I found over on Pinterest done by Lori Tecler.  I couldn’t get to her original post but I did take a screenshot for you to see. I am playing along with this week’s CAS challenge over at The Paper Players.

Card Details: First, I sponged the sky making a stencil and blending some Oxide Ink. The sky is done directly on the card and the other 3 pieces are layered on top. Next, I tore some vellum and patterned paper that happened to have a white core. I got some brown ink to sponge on my top layer which is white cardstock to make the sand. Last, I used some white paint and a small make-up sponge in hopes to make it look like sea foam crashing in.  The cute flip flops are from Impression Obsession.  The sentiment is from SU.

Thanks for stopping by, Nancy

More Bees are Buzzing…..

I am back today with more Bumble Bees for the Twofer Challenge and the great sketch going on at Freshly Made! I told you I kinda got carried away and made just a few Bee cards the other day…LOL.  I have a bad habit of not wanting to waste any scraps and I had leftover Alchohol ink paper that I had to put to use, and then I had the bright negative pieces from a couple of days ago card, that I thought might be kinda fun to use.

In hindsight I am disappointed that I added the navy dots around the bee…but once I started I had to embrace it. Isn’t that DP gorgeous! I am sorry but I have NO idea whose it is.  If I had to take a wild guess I would say Blue Bunny. I got it from my Local Stamping store. Here is a closer look. The vellum bee really makes the card and doesn’t take away from that beautiful paper. The sentiment is from Pretty Pink Posh.  I made a mistake on the Sketch and centered my sentiment. 😦

Here is another card that really showcases the paper beautifully, and the leftover negative pieces I couldn’t waste!  The sentiment is from Verve and the enamel dots are SU.

That is all for me today!  Hope you have a fabulous day however you wish to spend it! I am going back to party planning and might make a card or two. Nanc’

Sea You Soon!

Hello Friends,  Today’s card was one that started out a bit rough, but in the end turned out just fine! I love when that happens.  I had to photograph this card laying down to assure you could see the cute little dolphin behind the fun piece of vellum I found in my stash.  I have no clue where it came from. LOL However, I stumbled upon it at the right time.

Here is an early pic of my watercoloring when I thought about chucking it and started again. So glad I stuck with it. I wanted to make my dolphin more of a purplish grey and I hope you can tell that in the photo and it doesn’t appear muddy.

I am entering this card over at both that CAS Watercolour Challenge and the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.

The stamp set is from Sunny Studios, the sea shell dies are Impression Obsession, the borders and tags are MFT.

Have a wonderful day! Nanc’

STB ToppingsHello Friends,  To say that this week has been long would be an understatement!  I can barely keep up at work and at home as well! I am over the hump so I can do this!  Since it is in-fact Thursday, it’s time for a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  Our topping option we have for you this time around is to use Vellum or Acetate somewhere on your card and or project.  Since I have had such a tough week and so much to get done I decided to CASE myself instead of re-inventing the wheel. I have made a card very similar to this one in the past that was orange and black. All the stamps are from Stampin UP except the sentiment which is from Hero Arts. I thought the added little double ruffle at the top worked perfectly to hide the adhesive that I used for the vellum banner.

Here is a photo of the original card I made!

Hope to see you in the gallery at STB!  Nanc’

Mojo418SketchHello Friends,  Today’s card is the second Christmas Card I have made so far this year…..Whoop Woo!  I am on a roll! In all seriousness, I better get a move on!  I had a really hard time getting this photo to do the card justice.  I promise you the card looks better then this photo portrays. As soon as I saw the Mojo Monday sketch I knew I wanted to use a Verve Christmas stamp set called Pinecone Christmas for my card.  I also, have used a sticker for a sentiment….which may be a first for me.  I don’t recall ever doing this before, but I have these really cool sentiment stickers that I won over at our local Stampin store that I hate to waste.  Did I ever show you my load of stuff I won?  I was the grand prize winner at The Paper Inn’s open house.  When she called me I was shocked to say the least.  The owner  Marjorie is a sweetheart and I wish her many, many years of success! The paper pack was a door prize I won that day as well and it’s by Anna Griffin and it’s gorgeous!  I added a polka dotted SU vellum sheet to the front layer of the paper for added interest.  Again, the photo isn’t flattering to this card.

Thanks for dropping in, I will be back later today or tomorrow with another card!  Nancy
