Handmade for You

Hello friends, I am back today with my 3rd card using this fun new set from Simon Hurley and Spellbinders. This time I decided to use just the rose stamp in the set and try my hand at watercolor- the cheaters’ way. What is the cheaters’ way…you might ask? In my opinion, it’s when you heat emboss the image so that it makes it easier to color inside the lines. It’s the only way you will see me doing it, that is for certain! I must say that I totally enjoyed the process. I know it has flaws and some of the shading is probably in the wrong place because of the light source…blah blah blah…but to me, worrying about all of that takes the joy away. I just wanted to relax and enjoy the process and that is what I did.

After I was done with the water coloring, I couldn’t decide on what I wanted to do for the background. Hubby suggested I used the foil plate-Sealed Geometric Flowers, he really thinks it’s awesome, and so do I. Now that it’s on the background, do you think it’s too busy? I am on the fence. The foiled Handmade For You greeting is from Spellbinders as well. I have links for you below. I decided to take this photo outside in the sun in front of my Florida Flame Vine and see if I could capture the foil a bit better.

CAS-Miss You

I had a few minutes today and decided to try and make a CAS card. I went searching for a challenge to join and decided on the Inkspirational Challenge along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge once again. When I looked at the photo I saw palm trees, a blue sky, and tan sand. Yes, there is the orange VW Bus but I didn’t have anything that would work for that so I stuck with Palm Trees. The Palm Tree I chose to use is the older one from MFT. Then I looked at the Tic Tac Toe Board and made my selection of diagonal; Watercolor, Free, and Any Sentiment and went to work.

Card Details: Watercolor wash background using SU inks. The Palm Tree Die is older and from MFT and the Miss you is from Pretty Pink Posh.

I hope you are having a wonderful day and find something to do that brings you JOY! Nanc’

Peach and Green

Hello, Hope this post finds you well. It’s time for our next duo of colors at Color Hues. The color combo that the lovely Carol has chosen for all of us is Peach and Green. This was such a fun challenge for me as Peach isn’t something I use very often. I will tell you a funny back story real quick. I was working on this challenge at a friend’s house about a month or so ago and I was so happy with how my card was turning out but had plans to finish it when I got home. Later the next day, I sat down to finish it up and when I was looking at it I realized I was staring at peach and grey. LOL Have you ever done that? Let me just say it’s not the first time. You may just be seeing that combo sometime this year. LOL

Card Details: I have a mix of supplies for today’s card. Surprise surprise. LOL I just love the dotted background die that I just got from Sunny Studios called Frilly Frames Polka Dot. It comes with an outer frame and is actually a lot bigger. I cut it down to fit the size I wanted for my card. The flowers and greeting are from Stampendous, and the flowers are heat embossed and watercolored. The leaves are an old stamp from SU and a coordinating punch. I added the green strips of paper to bring the green back again in the design. A few pop dots for dimension and a few clear Nuvo drops to finish it off.

I sure hope you will consider popping on over to Color Hues and joining us! The team’s cards are much more phenomenal than mine-as always! I am going to have to kick it up a notch if I want to stay on this team. 😉

Take care, Nanc’

No Line Watercoloring

Hi, No Line Water-coloring or should I say…ATTEMPTING No Line Watercoloring over at Just Us Girls today. If I had more time I would have been happy to try again but since I didn’t, I decided to do my best to hide my terrible flower with a bow! LOL. I guess I shouldn’t have picked a sheer one. LOLOLOL My dear friend Barb sent me this Gina K Designs image with a sticky note that said try no-line water-coloring with this.  I am sure she will not be impressed as she is fabulous at it. LOL  Oh well, I will try again sometime soon.

The MFT hello die was dipped in gold glitter to add some interest or distraction.LOL  And the tag die is also MFT.

Hope to see you in our gallery at JUGS! A huge thanks to Sue our DT member that pushed us to try something new and or challenging! Come play along.

Wishing You Well…

Hello, I am the hostess this week at Just Us Girls and it happens to be Photo Week. I thought this picture was just lovely and hope you and the girls over at JUGS did too!

Card Details:  I used a mix of three mediums to color my image.  Watercolors, Watercolored pencils, and Zigs. I heat embossed the image with white Embossing powder first. This stamp is from Northwoods Rubber Stamps, and the sentiment is from Stampin Up.  The flowers and background paper are burnt orange and not red as they may appear in the photo.

Come play along with us this week! Nanc’

Rainbow Colors

Hello,  I hope your day is off to a great start! We have a great topping starting today over at Seize the Birthday!  The topping is rainbow colors.  A couple of weeks or so ago I received this great new die and stamp set from SU called Celebrate Sunflowers and I thought this would be perfect to execute this idea I had rolling around in my head.

I may have made this a bit more time consuming than it needed to be as I cut my sunflower out first and then colored the petals with my SU watercolor brush and various inks. I thought I would have better control of the colors this way. I thought the bottom of the card needed something so I have this fun double scallop from MFT and of course, my go-to sentiment is Verve.   I few SU enamel dots in primary colors and I was done.  CAS is a challenge for me but this time I came out on top! LOL

I am joining is NBUS today too! Since this was the first time I used my sunflower set.

Please come see all the various types of rainbow designs over at Seize the Birthday and join us! Nanc’

Tic Tac Toe Birthday

Hello, Today over at Seize the Birthday we have a new challenge beginning and Ashwini has picked a tic tac toe board for us to chose from.  I always enjoy these types of challenges.

I have chosen the middle row of; Inlaid-die-cutting, flowers, and water coloring.  I just love this flower from MFT and thought it would look great watercolored. I heat embossed the flower first and then while I was at it I decided to watercolor the background as well. Since I finally got the die-cut ( that is constantly out of stock over at MFT) to go with the flower it worked perfectly for the inlaid part of my row.  I finished it off with an MFT birthday greeting and some sequins.

I hope you will come check out the lovely array of cards over at Seize the Birthday…the team and our guest Jen did a great job once again.

Take care, Nanc’

Sunset at JUGS

We have a gorgeous picture for your inspiration at Just Us Girls today. I can attest that our sunsets have been pretty magnificent as of late and starting next week they are supposed to be getting even more intense due to the Saharan Dust Plume that is headed towards the US.  We shall see if they look as good as they predict. This photo couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.

I did a quick watercolor background on my card and the silhouette palm tree is from MFT.

I hope you will be inspired to come over to JUGS and check out what the team did with this picture and while you are there join us. Before I go I would like to thank Mugdha for being with us this month.  We really enjoyed your creativity and amazing cards and hope you will come back again soon.

I am also linking my card up over at TGIF Challenge where they have a summer vibe challenge going on.  Nothing screams summer to me than gorgeous sunsets.

Take care, Nanc’

Watercoloring

Hello, I have a watercolored card for you today that goes with our next topping that I so happen have selected over at Seize the Birthday.  I used this beautiful hydrangea stamp from Gina K Designs.  The sentiment is one of my go-to stamps from Stampin Up.  As you can see I heat embossed with white powder before I got started painting.  Some splatters, sequins, and ribbon and I was done.

I need to thank our Surprise Party Guest Jo for being with us for the past 2 months.  It’s been such a joy having you with us and I look forward to having your wonderful cards in our gallery again soon.

Please come join check out the DT’s cards at Seize the Birthday and I hope you will join us, Nanc’

Navy and Pink

Hello, I was trying to make a few cards for some upcoming challenges and it wasn’t going well yesterday, so I decided to write a post instead.  I did some water coloring a few days ago and the next day after some thought and suggestions over on IG, I turned the items into two cards instead of one.  You see, I had made two background panels and I liked them both and was trying to figure out which one to use.

I am linking the above card up over at The Flower Challenge where they have asked us to use Navy and one other color on our project. I as you have seen I chose pink.

Card Details:  Stamps are mostly Altnew with the exception of the “Wishing You Well” greeting is from Stampin Up. I used Catherine Pooler inks and some stencils to make my backgrounds.  Speaking of backgrounds…  I did a double stencil technique and it worked perfectly.  I made both a rectangle and circle stencil with some thick acetate and placed that down over my first decorative stencil. I used some washi tape to hold everything in place.  It was so much fun, I made about ten more backgrounds while I was at it in various colors and shapes.

I so appreciate you stopping in and I hope you have a lovely day, Nanc’.

I hope my mojo returns soon.
