Color my world with family, friends and some time to be creative making cards!

Merry Christmas-Better Press

Hello, I have stepped out of Fall for a bit and back into Christmas, so it seems. Today’s card features a gorgeous new Spellbinder’s Better Press plate called Poinsettia Corner from the Better Press Christmas Collection. It is such a pretty plate that I know will help me get those Christmas cards finished.

Card Details: After I pressed my image on a grey BP-Cotton Panel, I did a mix of both watercolors and colored pencils. First, I came in with the watercolors and then used Prismas to give the details, that I clearly can not achieve on my own. It takes a true artist to be able to do that. I still can’t figure out where the light source is according to the resident artist, that I live with. He said, “I have the light coming from every direction.” LOL What does he know? LOL Well, I thought it turned out okay, prior to showing it to hubby. I think the white pencil on the berries and pinecone helped greatly. Anyway, I intentionally Pressed the image in an arc as I knew the layout I wanted to make. The Notched Corner Frames finished it off perfectly and I like the sentiment on the dark red. With a little greenery, berries, and gold paper dots in the corner, I was done.

If you place an order after clicking on one of the links below I will receive a small commission, and I am currently taking all of those commissions and donating it to the Hawai’i Community Foundation for the Maui Strong Fund.

  1. Remind me not to color in the presence of Resident Artist. Hahaha! I think light from everywhere is fabulous!

  2. I like all of the extra sprigs and berries surrounding the poinsettia! Lovely card, Nancy!

  3. That poinsettia is beautifully colored, and not for a moment would I worry about the light source for an image like that! I love that Notched Corner Frame and can visualize many opportunities to use it! Fab card!

  4. I can never figure out where the light source is and I’m all for having it coming from all over! Nothing like a beautiful poinsettia in a sunny room!

  5. Gorgeous poinsettia! Your colouring is fab!

  6. I think it turned out very beautiful, I kind of just do my own thing when it comes to light sources and I think yours is perfect!!
