Word Die Cuts

Hello, We have a very easy challenge for you this week at Just Us Girls.  It’s Wild Card Week and Angie has chosen Word Dies.  I don’t know any card makers that don’t have a word die or two lying around.  The hardest part for me is deciding which one to use.  This one is from MFT.

This card is a total CASE of a card you can find HERE! I fell in love with it and had to make one for myself. Mine doesn’t look half as good as hers. I overworked my color on the flowers.  I made this card quite a while ago and I think I might try again and see if my water coloring skills have improved. I first heat embossed my flowers in gold.

The cards by the design team are fabulous this week! Come and check them out. We also have to say farewell to Karen this will be her last post with us.  Karen, It has been a pleasure having you onboard and we look forward to having you back in our gallery again soon.

Happy stamping, Nanc’

Wishing You Well…

Hello, I am the hostess this week at Just Us Girls and it happens to be Photo Week. I thought this picture was just lovely and hope you and the girls over at JUGS did too!

Card Details:  I used a mix of three mediums to color my image.  Watercolors, Watercolored pencils, and Zigs. I heat embossed the image with white Embossing powder first. This stamp is from Northwoods Rubber Stamps, and the sentiment is from Stampin Up.  The flowers and background paper are burnt orange and not red as they may appear in the photo.

Come play along with us this week! Nanc’

Texture @ STB!

Hello, we have a great topping starting today over at Seize the Birthday. We want you to add texture to your card and or project. This card was fun to put together!

Here is a pic of the piece before I covered it up with the vellum and fishes. I used the fun Vicki Boutin Texture paste to get my texture but first I used Oxide inks with a water splash stencil. I used my MFT water die-cut for the vellum pieces. Look closely or you may have missed that.

I used Copics for my medium.

I hope you will come check out what the team has done over at Seize the Birthday! The cards are all so fabulous!

Take care, Nanc’

Color Week at JUGS!

Well, here it is Saturday once again! We have the next trio of colors starting at Just Us Girls.  However, I did not go the traditional Halloween way for my card…I had to be one of the defiant ones. LOL

Card Details:  The flowers and leaves are from SU, the stencil is from Altenew, and the sentiment is from Hear Arts. The scalloped rectangle is from MFT.

I hope you will come check out the cards from the Design Team and our guest Karen and play along! Nanc’

Life is Better

Hello, Why as we get older why is change so hard. WordPress has decided to update my blog and I am not overly excited about it so if this looks a bit weird you will know why. I have been doing my blog posts the same since 2008. Okay, enough of the whining, it’s time to talk about the next Hues of Color we have starting today over at Color Hues. We have Blue and Orange for you to be inspired with. I have two cards to share with you today.  I know I should be embracing cooler temps and not making Beachy cards but this Florida girl doesn’t really know what fall is. So there you go!  I just love that I was able to cut the crabs out perfectly on the flip flop bows.  That Designer Paper is from my local Scrapbooking store.  So fun!

Below is the first card I made for this challenge but when I saw the DT’s cards I knew this boring card wasn’t gonna stand a chance against theirs.  However, here it is to show you anyway.

Card Details: 1st card- Honey Bee Stamps and Dies Flippin Fabulous.  The XOXO is MFT.

2nd card- Flowers, Hugs die, and scalloped edge are all MFT.  Nuvo Drops for centers of flowers.

Head on over to Color Hues and see what the team and our guest did this time! Trust me the cards are all fabulous!!

Take care and happy crafting, Nanc’

Fall Colors…

Hello, Today I had the opportunity to play along with the fabulous color combo going on at The Paper Players.  I have mixed two of my favorite Stampin Up sets to make this card. The relatively new Sunflower set is really fabulous and the older die set called Seasonal Layers I just adore.  I absolutely love these leaves!  You should have seen me frantically looking for them one day about 2 months ago when I thought I lost them.  I tore my room apart.  Then I stopped, thought logically, and started looking in other sets, and there they were!  I was so relieved! The sentiment is from Verve. I used Copics and Colored Pencil as my medium.

Yesterday I spent the entire day reorganizing my studio and I love the way it looks now!  I need to update the photos so you can see it.  I really want to paint the cabinets white someday but that will have to wait till I have more time to convince hubby that it’s necessary.  I also would like to take out the sink. When we bought this house 28 years ago it had two kitchens.  Now it’s covered with a piece of board to hold my Big Shot but you can still see the faucet. It came in handy when I ran my own daycare and I did arts and crafts with the kids.

I hope this day finds you well!  Take care, Nanc’

Ombre

Hello, It’s time again for the next Just Us Girls challenge. Lisa is our hostess and she has selected Ombre for us for our Trend.  I love this paper that I have from Stampin Up.  It’s white and has various patterns already on it and all you have to do is ink it up for an emboss resist!  I am hoarding every piece as I love it so much.   The rest of the supplies are from MFT.  I left this card Sentimentless as I don’t know who I will be sending it too.

I hope you will drop by Just Us Girls and play along!

Take care, Nanc’

Scraps at Seize the Birthday!

Hello, Over at Seize the Birthday we have a new topping starting, and what we want you to do is use scraps on your birthday card. The paper I have used on my card today is from Stampin Up and it’s one of my all-time favorite packs. I have saved every single piece in its original packaging.  I am always in the need of some masculine birthday cards and that is what I have for you today. The boat is from Verve and paper pieced. The clouds are from MFT. The sentiment is from SU. I made the waves with my old Creative Memories cutter. You can’t really tell but I have three layers of navy.

Please come by STB and join us the girls have some amazing cards along with our guest Angie!

Take care, Nanc’

Coffee

Hello,  Over the past few weeks I have been having fun playing with my new coffee set from the Greetery. I know it’s not necessarily a “NEW” set but it’s new to me.  I sometimes ponder a purchase to make sure the want is still there and doesn’t trail off.  My mom always made me sleep a few nights on my decisions or purchases.   I think that is such great advice.  Sometimes like you, I don’t have that much willpower. LOL  I am not sure what I like more the coffee cup, the little spoon, or that die coaster! Such a quick card that yields great results!

I am playing along over at Inkspirational where they want us to Angle it! I think I pretty much angled everything on this card.

I hope you are having a wonderful day! Nanc’

Plaid

Hello,  We have a great word selected by Bobby for you this week at Just Us Girls… the word is Plaid. I have this great buffalo check stamp from SU that I used to make my background. I used a mix of colored pencil and Copics for the medium.  The background was made with a Copic marker as well. The coaster die is from the Greetery. The stamp set and greeting are SU.

I have made a card similar to this in the past and I loved it so I did it again!

We have a brand new guest with us this month and she just so happens to be on my Design team over at Color Hues.  Please help me in welcoming Karen Walker to JUGS for the month.  Welcome, Karen!

Hope to see you in our gallery!

Take care,

Nanc’
