Bargello…who knew?

DSC_0415

My friend Judy is hosting over at Stamp TV this week however, I am cutting it close as the challenge ends tonight.  Her technique that she asked us to try is called Bargello and  I had not heard of it before.  HERE is a link so you can watch Beate Johns, over at Split Coast Stampers, do this fun technique. All you do is cut some strips of patterned paper, glue them on a backing, then cut that into strips across the “grain” and stagger them to form a Bargello pattern. It really is not difficult and a lot of fun! I am not sure my papers are pattern enough, I couldn’t find a yellow that would work,  but I am pretty happy with the results.

Before I began I went looking for a color challenge out in the blogosphere and came across this beautiful color combo over at Colour Me and was excited when I hadn’t missed the deadline.  The stamps I used are all Gina K Designs, Hugs and Prayers and the sentiment is from the Wild West set. It’s the perfect size Happy Birthday that I was looking for. I also used my MS leaf punch and paper pieced the flower and gave it some dimension.  I colored the butterfly poorly with colored pencil.

I appreciate your comments and taking the time to visit me, it really makes this all worth it! Nanc’

Tulips!

PicMonkey CollageHappy Weekend,  Whoop Woo!!  Today over at Just Us Girls it’s time for our Photo Week and boy do we have a pretty one for you!  Maria has chosen a photo with beautiful tulips for us to get inspired by.  It definitely inspired me as I decided to make 3 cards instead on 1.  I had another good reason to make 3 cards, as it was secretaries week.  I made each one of my fabulous secretaries a card and put a gift certificate inside. I even made an additional 5 more cards for my DH’s secretaries as well. You might see those at a later date.  Here is a large photo of the graphic so you can see the beautiful tulips.  I also need to thank our Guest Designer Kathy over at JUGS for being with us this month, you have been a joy to have on board!  Thanks so much and hope to see you playing along in the future!

Here are individual shots of each card as well.

The tulip stamp is one of those stamps I picked up at a Stamp Expo and the sentiment is Stampin Up.  I heat embossed the flower with white embossing powder (which is hard to see) and used my watercolored SU brush to add the color to the flower and the grass. Can’t forget to mention my rectangle stitched MFT dies.  I am also linking up to the Thank You challenge over at Showcase Your Style for the first time.  Have a fantastic day! ~Nanc’

Make Your Own Background

DSC_0410

Hi Friends, It’s Thursday so that means it’s time for another great challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  Our topping this time around if you choose to use it, is to make your own background.  I had a great time making this card, and yes there is a however coming,  I think the leaves look terrible, but I loved the way the flowers came out and didn’t want to risk changing it. Anyhow, you can’t love them all, now can we?  The flowers, leaves, and dots are from the Verve- Poppy Birthday set.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts. I used my SU watercolored brush for this card. I really love that thing!  What a great invention, if you ask me.

Now, you have to go over to STB and see what my Wonderful and ohhhhh soooooo talented Teammates did with this challenge. WOWZA! While your there, PLEASE join us and remember if you don’t want to use the topping you don’t have to because we are ALWAYS celebrating Birthdays!  See you over there! Nancy

I am also linking this card up over at Addicted to Stamps and More where they have an Anything Goes challenge starting!

You’re On My Mind…

DSC_0378

If you are thinking to yourself you have seen a card similar to this one recently, well you are not crazy, you have!  I had so much fun making the last one, that I had to do it again!  I saw this awesome sketch over at My Favorite Things and I knew it would work perfectly!  Then, I have been eyeing the color challenge over at Colour Me and was thrilled that I hadn’t missed the deadline yet….so I paired them together and there you have it!  In case you missed my last card here is a pic of it again.

DSC_0364

Here are a few details on the first card: Scalloped borders are MFT.  The sentiment is from Verve, and the Vase and stems are from Gina K. Designs.  Love the two colored tilted panel with my MFT stitched rectangles. The flower punch is new to me and I just love it!!  I made the victorian edge strip with my fiskars.  I thought the vase needed to be grounded on this card.

Thanks for stopping by, it means the world to me!  Nanc’

Color Week at JUGS!

DSC_0189

Hi Friends,   Happy Weekend!  Today over at Just Us Girls it’s Color Week and Lisa is our Hostess.  The colors she has chosen this time around are White or Beige, Brown, and the third color is your choice, however you must use all 3.  I decided to use Turquoise as my 3rd color as I adore that color paired with brown.  I am not very happy with my photo and I would have re-taken it, but the card has already been mailed and received at this point.  That is the pros and cons of working ahead, sometimes the card is no longer at your disposal.  Anyhoo, the balloon I kinda mustered up myself and the die is from Stampin Up.  I thought it would be fun to have the die in two different colors.  I took my favorite stitched rectangles and made myself a border so that I could mount the balloon as if it was in a window.  The word Birthday is from Verve. Thought it still needed something extra so I added the stars and of course the string.

That’s it for me!  Please come on over to JUGS and see what color the team and our Guest Designer Kathy has selected for their 3rd color choice.  While your at it you might as well….JOIN US!

Until next time…find sometime to be creative…it’s good for the soul!  Nanc’

Shaking it up at JUGS!

DSC_0373

Screen Shot 2015-03-14 at 10.42.03 AMHi Friends, Today over at Just Us Girls it’s Trend week and Sue has challenged us, and you for that matter, to make a Shaker card.  I will admit, I think this is the second time I have ever attempted one of these types of cards, I am not sure why they intimidate me so much, because they are not that hard and so much fun to make!  I am also linking my card up to two other challenges.  The Pink Elephant; where they are asking us to use Pastel Colors, and my starting off point was a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Now head on over to Just Us Girls and play along!  While your there check out what the Design Team has done along with our Guest Designer Kathy.  Remember, if you are chosen as our Chic of the week you could be in the running as a possible GD in the future. Hope to see you there!

Few card details:  Flower stamp is from SU.  The sentiment is from Verve. I used a combo of Washi tape and ribbon underneath the sentiment. The EF is also SU. Inside the shaker I have a mixture of sequins and punched paper flowers in various colors.  Any other questions please just let me know.

I appreciate so much you coming by!  Have a great day! Nanc’

Black, White and Red

DSC_0364

Well, Spring Break is now behind us and I only have 42 working days till Summer vacation!  I can do this! Hubby and I had a fabulous Spring break.  It all started with a visit with my sister and her hubby in Lakeland, and next we spent the day with some cousins in Fort Myers, and finally we got to spend a four days with our Son and his girlfriend in Savannah.  All in all it was a great week!  Okay, onto today’s card!  Over at Stamp TV my friend Donna is hosting a color challenge, and it’s Thursday so that means it’s time for a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  Over at Stamp TV the colors we were to use were: Red, Black and White.  They were pretty obvious weren’t they! LOL  Over at Seize the Birthday, our topping option this time around is Tall and Skinny.  Remember our Topping is always an option, if you don’t want to make a tall and skinny card this time around, then just link up a Birthday card!  It’s just that easy!  We would love to have you join us!  You should also go and see what my fabulous Design Team has done!  WOW!  Talk about a great variety of eye candy!

Here are some card details! I paper pieced my vase with a very old piece of SU paper.  I may have gotten a little carried away with the dots all over my card.  Everyone of the small tiny dots on the vase and inside the flowers were made from paper, except for the white dots in the very center of the flowers.  All the others were made with the smallest hole on the Owl SU paper punch. The black ones on the vase I added as well.  I loved putting this card together. The banner and the stitched panels are from MFT.  The stamp sets I used are both from Stamp TV; Birthday Labels and Flowers Bloom. I had to cut the sentiment apart and only use a portion of it as it didn’t quite fit.

Hope you have a wonderful day! Nanc’

Spring

DSC_0214Over at Just Us Girls today’s word challenge is Spring and it’s brought to you by Sharyn.  Super idea Sharyn, as that leaves things pretty wide open!  I am still in the Easter mode and wanted to share with you the other two cards we made at my crafty get together at my house a couple of weeks ago. Both cards were a starting point from cards I saw over at Pinterest and I will include them at the end of my post. The above card as you can see has two pieces of marbleized paper.  One of the friends had the brilliant idea to add the stems of grass peeking through….and I loved it so I went back an added it to my original card too. It’s the coolest grass die cut from Impression Obsession Stamps. ( io stamps) I made sure each one of the eggs had some sort of dry embossing on them.  The scalloped grass and button is from MFT.  The sentiment is something I picked up at Michaels. The bow is a die from my school. The butterfly is SU.

The card below is the other card we made that had nothing to do with the marbleized paper we made, but I needed something for the girls to start with while they waited their turn to marbleize, or while waiting for the papers to dry.  Isn’t the pink pom pom so cute? I generated the sentiment on the computer, thinking this way someone could use this for something besides Easter if they wanted to.  The ears were made with the SU blossom punch, thank god I found a use for it…lord knows I haven’t used it to assemble any flowers yet. LOL The rest is pretty self explanatory. Die cuts, punches, distressing, and some pop dots. The tilted panel is a stitched rectangle from MFT.

Hope you come on over to Just Us Girls and help us welcome our New Guest Designer Kathy and see what else the rest of the team has done with this challenge. Remember if your chosen as our Chic of the Week you will be in the running as a possible future Guest Designer as well.  Good Luck!  Nanc’

Quick Masculine Birthday Card

DSC_0217

Hello friends,  I needed a quick masculine Birthday card yesterday and I knew I only had a few minutes to pull it off.  My friend Sharyn is hosting the Make it Monday challenge over at Stamp TV, so I decided to use that as my starting point. Her challenge is to add stitching to your card ( faux or real).  As you can see I went with the Faux since I needed to keep it masculine.  I used 3 different stamp sets of Gina K for my card, Birthday Labels, Fleur Di Lis, and Lots of Letters 2. Also, I incorporated 2 of my MFT stitched rectangles too.

Hope you have a terrific day!  Nanc’
