Congrats…

Hello,  Here we are once again with another week gone by! Today’s challenge at Just Us Girls is to use an Embossing Folder.  Easy huh? I paired my embossing folder with this fun puzzle piece heart from SU.  The sentiment is theirs as well.  It was heat embossed.   Isn’t that paper so pretty! It’s Bo Bunny I do believe. A Big Thanks to Greta for being a fabulous Guest this month.

Get out those Embossing Folders and please come and join us! Nanc’

Spring…

Hello,  I hope Spring is finally starting to arrive where you are.  Spring happens to be our topping that Tae Eun has chosen this time at Seize the Birthday! Fits her to a tee since she’s all about florals. Today’s card is designed with a bit of this and that. The flowers are MFT, the background paper is SU and it has been sponged with Oxide Inks, the sentiment is Verve, and last but not least this great cover plate… is anybody’s guess, as it’s not mine. I really love it! I think it’s MFT but I would be guessing. I sponged the flowers as well to match the background.

Please come check out the team’s take on Spring!  See you there! Nanc’

Life is Meant…

Hello,  We have a great celebratory photo this week at Just Us Girls and I decided to step out of the box and get inspired by colors instead. The blue and green balloons spoke to me initially when I saw this photo and I thought water, then as I thought a bit harder I thought beach ball colors…and Whalla….the card was born! LOL. Not sure how to spell Whalla.  Hopefully, you get the gest!

Everything you see here is from MFT…besides some of the paper. I sponged the light blue and colored her with Prismas.

Please come check out the rest of the team’s work and our guest Greta and join us! Nanc’

Family, Balloons and Ghosting!

Personal Post followed by cards!

Hello, Hope this post finds you well! We just got back from a quick trip to Charlotte, NC to attend my Godfather/Uncle’s funeral. It was a complete an utter shock, as he passed away suddenly in his sleep.  Have you ever wanted to do something so bad and you just knew you were supposed to be there to offer your love, support and not to mention to say your final goodbyes?  That is how I felt this past week. My Aunt and Uncle came to my son’s wedding about a year and a half ago and I was so grateful that they made the trip down and now even more so.  Amongst all the tears and sorrow the last few days, it was great to reconnect with all my cousins and their extended families, to talk with my Aunt Jean one on one, and give her all the hugs that I possibly could.   I follow my cousins on social media which is great but actually having the chance to see all of my cousin’s spouses and children in person was really awesome. My Uncle Chuck and Aunt Jean did an amazing job raising their kids, and you can see that task being passed down to their kids as well. 3 out of the 4 children live in different parts of the US and not Charlotte, so it’s not often we all get to see one another.  When Dave and I arrived on Sunday, the house was overflowing with people and love, it was a Home! They both played such an important role in their community and that was evident by the food being brought in, not to mention all the visitors. The Visitation and Mass were so very touching, and as I sit here reflecting on the past few days, I feel honored to have had such an amazing man as my godfather.  Dave an I always had an extra special connection with him, as he was a principal and superintendent of many school districts during his long career.  I could go on and on as his resume is impressive.  My Uncle was quite the artist as well.  Below there is a self-portrait that he drew that was on display at the visitation, along with a picture of the two of them at the wedding.  You will be sorely missed Uncle Chuck!  Rest in peace and say hello to mom for me.

Now onto my cards, The cards above were inspired by the Twofer Challenge this month along with the CAS Stencil Challenge where they have asked us to try the ghosting technique. I had a great time making these cards before my trip, it was a great distraction.  On the ELE card….I got a bit heavy handed with my ghosting technique, but it sure is fun and easy to do. Not sure you can tell but I even did the ghosting technique on the balloons as well using a different stencil. All supplies are MFT, except the stencil.

For my second card, I decided that I colored the Chameleon too dark with copics, so I tried to highlight him a bit with colored pencil.  Live and learn, leave things well enough alone as my mom use to say.  Believe it or not, I stamped the Chameleon (from Your Next Stamp) first and masked him to do the background with Oxide Inks. The clouds and balloons are popped up for some dimension. The sentiment and the Ele are both colored with Prismas. The clouds are Lawn Fawn, the rest is all MFT.  Here are two other pics of the cards. Nanc’

I Miss You Already

Hello,  I am your hostess this week at Just Us Girls and it’s Color Week.  I have a Spring-like Color palette for you all that are dealing with snow in hopes that it will warm you up a bit, and remind you that eventually it will feel like Spring! We have been having really hot temperatures here in Florida and appears that we may skip Spring altogether. 😦

Today’s card is a mix of MFT and SU. I just adore these MFT elephants and it was time to get them out and play with them again.  I did some emboss resist and didn’t worry too much about my ink blending and am rather happy with the results.  The Ele, florals, and butterflies are MFT. The Ele was colored with Prismas and the sentiment is from SU.

I sure hope you will consider coming over to JUGS and joining us this week!  Who knows you may even become our Chic of the Week!

See you there!  Nanc’

Dots and Stripes!

Hello,  Hope your day is off to a great start! Today starts a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  Our topping that Vicki has chosen is Dots and Stripes.  I had a great time making this card! I paired up some of my MFT flower stamps with some Elizabeth Craft Designs candle die-cuts that I really love, and some fabulous polka dotted paper.  In addition, the die-cut leaves are Verve and the sentiment is SU.  It has some pop dots for dimension as well.

Before I go I would like to welcome the talented Tenia to STB, as she is our next Surprise Party Guest for the next two months!  Tenia, we are all so thrilled to have you joining us!

Happy crafting, Nanc’

Hugs!

Hello,  Today over at Just Us Girls we have a challenge to use a Background stamp somewhere on your card and or project.  I decided to also make a background with a smaller leaf SU stamp (on the pink cardstock) and then used my script background stamp (on my green piece of cardstock).  I just love this stamp set from SU. It is one of my all-time favorite wooden block stamps that always seems to be my go too with great results. I colored the flowers with my Copics and a bit of colored pencil. I am still a work in progress that is for sure. The HUGS die from Lawn Fawn is cut from shiny silver cardstock.

TFChallenge#30I am also linking my card up over at the Flower Challenge where it’s Anything Goes

I hope you have a wonderful day and will consider stopping on over at JUGS and joining us!  Nanc’

Birthday!

Hello, Hope you are enjoying your day! Please excuse this terrible photo.  I would retake it, but it’s been mailed.  I apparently didn’t check to see if it was any good, before it got sent on its way! We have Birthday as our Word this week at Just Us Girls and I recently got this fun Birthday coverplate from SU that I know I am going to enjoy! I paired it up with a New Birthday Stamp Set that is also from SU called Blow Out the Candles. The little florals are from MFT. I made my own striped background using a SU stencil and some Oxide Inks. The scalloped circles are Spellbinders and the stitched circle is also SU. The background paper is a deep purple in case you can’t tell. (insert eye roll)

I would like to take a minute and welcome our Newest Guest over at Just Us Girls and her name is Greta.  Welcome Greta!!  We are super glad you are designing with us this month.

Hope to see you over at JUGS! Happy Crafting! Nanc’
