Happy Holly-Days

DSC_0055

Screen Shot 2015-10-25 at 12.00.29 PMHello Friends, All my USA friends… I sure hope you had a nice Thanksgiving and spent the day reflecting of all you have to be thankful for!  I know hubby and I did!   As you read this post, hubby and I are wrapping up a fabulous week with my son in Seattle and we have enjoyed every minute of it, even the cooler weather….okay…COLD weather!  Hubby’s not a fan at all, but we have been so fortunate, the sun has been out nearly everyday!  I wish this week could go on indefinitely!  However, Christmas is around the corner and Tyler will be coming home to spend the Holiday with us! So for that I feel truly thankful!

Okay, I was trying to get so much done before our trip, so my card had to be thrown together rather quickly!  Please also trust me that the ornaments are indeed stamped with Melon Mamboo and not red as they appear.  The ornaments and sentiment are from Verve and the wreath and bow is from Stampin Up.

Please come on over to Just Us Girls and join us, and while your there check out our GD Louise…she has been with us all month and super talented!  Thanks for joining us Louise…don’t be a stranger!

Hope to see you in the gallery!  Nanc’

Happy Wonderful Christmas

DSC_0035

Hello Friends,  I have another Christmas card for you today once again using the negative of a tree die.  I sure hope I am not boring you with all of these different variations.  Rest assure there is only one more coming. LOL  Hubby and I are still in Seattle, and it’s Thanksgiving morning, as I write this post and boy do I have a lot to be thankful for.  The sun is shining…YES shining and it’s 34 degrees and I am safe, warm, and surrounded by two men that I completely adore.  I will be missing my extended family today, but so excited to be preparing our meal with my son beside me in the kitchen. Life is truly good!

Card Details:  I heat embossed the snow scene that you can barely see in the background and sponged it with Pool Party and a little bit of Tempting Turquoise. The sentiment is also heat embossed with silver.  I can’t for the life of me at the moment remember what company the sentiment is from, and not home to check. The cute little snowman that I colored with Prisma colored pencils is from Gina K Designs. The double bow is a die-cut from my school that I embossed.

New Banner-015I am linking my card up over at The Challenge where my good friend Lesley has asked us to make a Christmas Card.  Her and here Design Team have created some awesome cards that you should check out!

Before I head to the kitchen…..I just want to say that I am VERY Thankful for each and every one of you! You truly have made me feel very, very blessed over the years and I hope to continue this blog journey for many, many years to come!  Happy Thanksgiving!  Nanc’

Red, Green and Gold

DSC_0042

Screen Shot 2015-10-08 at 8.30.13 PMHello Friends, It’s color week this week at Just Us Girls and Sharyn has picked the perfect color combo for this time of year!  My card was so much fun to make that I I decided to make quite a few variations of it in other colors as well.   You should see it in turquoise!  Well, you might see it sometime before Christmas!  I have a photo below to kinda help better explain how I made my tree. The stamp set that I used is one very old retired Stampin Up set called Branching Out. I think it was one of my first stamp sets I ever purchased.  I used the negative on my tree die from my school and then stamped the insides using the splat stamp (not sure how else to describe it) to make the leaves of the tree in 3 different SU shades of green.  The bottom border dies are from Verve and the sentiment is from SU. Added some bling and the stars from the die and I was all done.  Relatively quick card with a great punch.  I brought the supplies to make this card to a girl’s get-together with some of my friends about a month ago and they really liked it.

Birthday Wishes

DSC_0062

STB ToppingsHello Friends,  To say that this week has been long would be an understatement!  I can barely keep up at work and at home as well! I am over the hump so I can do this!  Since it is in-fact Thursday, it’s time for a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  Our topping option we have for you this time around is to use Vellum or Acetate somewhere on your card and or project.  Since I have had such a tough week and so much to get done I decided to CASE myself instead of re-inventing the wheel. I have made a card very similar to this one in the past that was orange and black. All the stamps are from Stampin UP except the sentiment which is from Hero Arts. I thought the added little double ruffle at the top worked perfectly to hide the adhesive that I used for the vellum banner.

Here is a photo of the original card I made!

Watercoloring

DSC_0037

Screen Shot 2015-10-08 at 8.14.45 PMHello Friends,  It’s Trend week this week at Just Us Girls and since watercoloring is still the craze in the Stampin world, that is just what my fellow DT member Maria has for us this week!  The stamp set I used for my card is from Verve and called Pinecone Christmas What a love about watercoloring is that it’s a fast technique and it’s usually very forgiving.  I will say that the quality of watercolor paper in fact does matter.  I am not sure you can tell by the photo, but my tag and my card is made from two different types of watercolor paper.  My hubby has a gazillion of watercolored, card-stock, pre-scored and precut cards that he brought home for me to use, and it’s the good stuff which I used for my card.  Then I went to make my tag and I didn’t want to waste a big piece, so I used another smaller piece that I had laying around on my desk.  Well, when I started watercoloring the poinsettias on the tag, the colors came out totally different (they were practically pink).  To make them blend together and look like the same shade of red, I had to get out my colored pencils and touch them up.  Just and FYI, quality does matter!

CMCC Full Graphics-020I also will be linking my card up over at Colour Me where they have the most perfect color combo for this time of year.  Real Red, Old Olive and neutrals.  My green is a little lighter then Old Olive but hopefully that will be okay!  I actually used a mixture of both SU-Lucky Limeade and Kiwi Kiss.

Now, won’t you come on over to Just Us Girls and join us this week and practice those watercoloring skills?  Remember if your chosen as our Chic of the Week you will be in the running as a possible future Guest Designer.

Hope to see you there,  Nanc’

Retro Sketches

DSC_0033

RS189Hello Friends, As soon as I saw this sketch over at Retro Sketches this week I knew I wanted to play along!  I was intrigued by the diagonal lines in the background and I knew I could achieve that look with some of my polka dotted ribbon that lately had been ignored and was collecting dust on my desk.  I also am still head over heals for this new stamp set that I have used a lot lately….sorry about that.  It’s called Bouquet For You and is from Stampendous.  I also wanted to break out my new (I should say OUR new, as I have to share with hubby) Faber Castell- Polychromo colored pencils and give some coloring another try.  Mind you, in hindsight, I should not have colored the jar the same color as my water ….but a girl has to make some mistakes to move onward and upward. Right?  I am no Kelly Latevola….but I am sure aspiring to be!

I hope you have a wonderful day and I sure do love your visits!  Nanc’

(CASE)ing Genius One Year Anniversary Challenge!

DSC_0027

Hello Friends,  I am so happy to be finally posting this card that I have been working on for a few days for the CAS(E)ing Genius One Year Anniversary hosted by the ONE and ONLY Kelly Latevola, over at You and Your Big Dreams!  If you are not familiar with Kelly, boy…… you are definitely missing out!  I also would find that quite unusual, as she is all over blog land and UBER talented.  I know all of her classmates in Elementary School must have been super jealous of her coloring skills, even back then!  Here is what Kelly has asked us to do to help her celebrate her anniversary of the (CASE)ing Genius Series.

To participate, you simply CASE ONE of the genius ladies Kelly has listed in her challenge post.  I decided to CASE Kristie Goblet of  Kreative Kristie!  What is cool about Kristie, besides her Oh so fabulous work, and being a fan of hers for years and years now is, that I also fell in love with the over all design and depth of her letters on her header graphic on her blog, which I also cased (with my son’s help) to use as my header on my blog.  (She still wins in that department as well!) So technically you could say she has been CASED twice! LOL  Oh Yeah, I need to mention that there are PRIZES too!!!

Kelly also wants us to chose one crafter that we want her to CASE for a future {CASEing Genius} post.  This was not easy for me as I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings as there are SOOOO many talented crafters out there that I stalk on a regular basis.  With that said,  I decided to nominate someone that I have been following since DAY ONE and that would be Julee Tilman from Poetic Artistry.  I don’t think I have ever missed a post of Julee’s since at the very least 2006!  She never ceases to amaze me time after time!  She is so very talented, runs her own Stamping Company (Verve) and is a mom to twin 3 year old boys to boot!  Thanks for the years of inspiration Julee!

Here are some card details along with a photo of the card I am (CASE)ing!  I may even mention a few of my screw-ups along the way!

DSC_0023This is the background that I created to make my snowy scene behind my tree.  It’s white heat embossed snowflakes of all sizes following up with some sponging of Pool Party and Tempting Turquoise SU ink.  The tree covered up most of the Turquoise, now that I get a closer look.

The Tree die cut is from my school!  (Lucky Me)  The neighborhood border die is from Tailored Expressions and is something I have had for at least a year now and never opened…so thank you Kristie for helping me break that seal!  I couldn’t leave the windows and doors all see through, so I paper pieced them. The yellow windows means someone is home, which I ams sure you probably figured out! 🙂

Here was my big mistake…..You know that saying… leave sleeping dogs lie….well it goes for the crafting industry too.  I have three perfectly placed paper snow hills underneath that sparkle of glitter, and I sure wish I would have left alone!!  UGH!  Now it looks as if I took some glue and some glitter and just drew straight lines of snow.  😦  Trust me when I tell you they are there.  I cut them out with my old time Creative Memories cutting system that I LOVE!  You can see I used the same cutting system to make my arched sentiment border, which I also realized I left no room for when my card was finished. LOL   The sentiment is from SU. The bow is from my school again…LOVE it.  The glittery stars were made with the insides of my Verve Scalloped Trim Trio die.  Not sure I could live without this die!

Here is the wonderful card of Kristie’s that I CASED!  Along with one more look of my card!  Thanks for sticking with me for this long post!  I sure do appreciate it very, very much!  Happy Stamping,  Nanc’

Stripes

DSC_0171 (1)

Screen Shot 2015-10-08 at 8.07.43 PMHello Friends,  As you probably figured out from my title and photo of my card the Word of the Week over at Just Us Girls is Stripes!  Easy Peasy right?  When I saw what Sue my fellow DT member had chosen, I thought it was a fabulous idea.  Now I am going to be honest and say that this card was inspired by my SU consultant Debbie, whom I love dearly.  We made a card very similar to this card in a stamp a stack a few months ago and I loved the colors and over all design of it so much that I decided to recreate some more. So this is one of about 5 that I have made and they are all gone already! October was a busy Birthday month! This card is perfect for mass producing!

So all products on my card minus the sequins and twine is Stampin UP.

Before I go I need to welcome our Guest Designer for the month of November who is with us over at JUGS and her name is Louise Hodge and she is super talented!  Welcome Louise, we are so very happy to have you!!  So please won’t you come on over to JUGS and check out the rest of the team’s cards and our Guesties too. You won’t be disappointed I am certain!   Happy creating, Nanc’

Another Anything Goes Birthday

DSC_0012

STB Anything GoesHello Friends,  It’s time for another Seize the Birthday post and this time it’s an Anything Goes Birthday celebration!  Over at STB we decided to keep Anita from France on with us for another month (Yipee), so we are going to be extending our Surprise Party Guest from an original one month guest designer spot to a two month, one month was just way to short!  So, thanks for graciously agreeing to stick around with us for another month Anita!

Going to make this short and sweet as I am still under the weather, so if you have any questions about my card….please don’t hesitate to ask. I am still using leftovers from my studio table and it’s working out quite nicely! Take care and bear with me till I start feeling like myself again!  Nanc’

Double the Sympathy

DSC_0193

CTS_147Hello there Friends,  I have two quick and very basic cards for you today that were inspired by this sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch.  This card was made from odds and ends I have saved on my desk from one past project or another.  The second card was made with the negative of the first card along with more odds and ends.  Do you have a place on your desk or work station, where you have bits and pieces of this and that that you can’t seem to throw away? I have these 6 clear dishes that work perfectly.  I have them categorized to make finding what I need a little easier.  For example: flowers and leaves, stamped sentiments, handmade stencils, border dies or punches and so on.  They are overflowing at the moment, so I felt the need to see what I could do about that. Card info:  The sentiments are from Stampin Up. The flower die is MFT.

Have a wonderful day!  Nanc’
