I Pray For You Everyday…

DSC_0136Screen Shot 2015-05-22 at 9.13.26 AMHello Friends,  It’ time for a new challenge at Just Us Girls.  This week we have a photo to spark your creativity!  One of my very good friends is battling cancer for the second time and I needed to send him a card to let him know how much we care about him.  He is the kindest and sweetest man I have ever known.  It breaks my heart to see him going through such a horrific battle.  I hate Cancer! It took my mom when my son was only 4 and she was far to young, and many other family members along the way for myself and my hubby.   I can’t take credit for this card at all, I saw it somewhere on Pinterest and can’t find it again, or I would have linked up the original for you.  All the text was done on my computer. The tags were inspired by the photo and were made with scraps of paper and SU corner punch. The little tiny hearts were inspired by the red in the photo and are the inside of a Verve trio die-cut set that I just love! I have it linked up for you Here! I outlined the tags with a black marker to make them pop.

Please come on over to Just Us Girls and join us!  Who knows you may be selected as our Chic of the Week and then onto being a guest designer in the future just like talented Ros Crawford.

I hope you have a wonderful day and remember to be grateful for your family and your health! Nanc’

June Weddings

Unknown

Hello Friends,  The month of June is about to come to an end, but before it is done I do have a wedding card for you.  After all, June is known to be ” Wedding Month” now isn’t it.  My family and I are headed to Michigan in a couple of days to attend my niece’s wedding.  Not sure who is more excited…. my son, his first Vacation since he gradated from High-school.(No joke) Although, he did inform me yesterday that he will be working some while we are gone…that kid of mine never quits. Our brother in-law is excited too.  He informed us today that he has every single sporting equipment that you can think of laid out and ready to go.  The only thing I am a little concerned about is all the rain they have been having and the swimming pool is only 60 degrees. Brrrrr.  We are looking forward to having the family all together for sure!  Ty’s girlfriend is coming with us too, however she has been warned that the Leppek family is a little crazy. LOL  Should be good fun!  Sorry, my upcoming vacation is not what you came by to listen to now is it.  The photo of this card makes the card look as if the colors don’t match. However, you will have to trust me that the light brown is more of a tan and does contrast beautifully.  I have made a card similar to this one in the past and I just love the look of it with those cute hearts.  I don’t think you need much info on this card other then….the sentiment is from Stampin UP and the heart border is a punch from Martha Stewart.

I am also linking my card up to the following challenges;  Time Out Challenges where the challenge is inspired by these words…..Happy is the Bride that the Sun Shines on.  And over at Freshly Made they are asking for either a monochromatic theme and or a stencil theme.  I think it’s quite obvious I went with the monochromatic only.

Until next time…find sometime to be creative…it’s good for the soul.  Nanc’1

Sharing in Your Sorrow…

DSC_0749

Screen Shot 2015-05-15 at 12.21.28 PMHappy Saturday Morning!  Hope your day is off to a good start!  It’s color week over at Just Us Girls and Ina has a great trio of colors for us/you to try!  The colors are Burgundy, orange and gold/yellow…and of course neutrals are always welcome.  Before I embarked on making this card I had been eyeing a couple other challenges this week.  I decided to incorporate our color challenge with this great photo inspiration over at The Card Concept.  These butterflies are amazing…aren’t they?  Then I went hunting for a sketch, and didn’t have to look very far, when I found this great simple sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.  Love when the sketches leave you some versatility of your own…and this sketch does just that.  I almost put my sentiment in the wrong spot….it was a close one.

Card Details:  The background was sponged using a great Heidi swap stencil that is fairly new to me.  I used a combo of 3 inks -Brick Red from Tim Holtz and Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral from SU.  The SU butterflies and flower were heat embossed and inked as well with the same colors.   The leaves are a thin-lit die from SU along with the sentiment too.  The background dotted paper is from Creative Memories and has to be at least 15+ years old.  No joke!
I was inspired to heat emboss my butterflies because of those beautiful white lines in the CC photo.  I would also describe my style for this card as Clean and Layered.  Hope you are intrigued by these FMS Final 191-001 37colors and decide to join the JUGS team and our Guest Designer for the month Ros Crawford!   Take care,  Nanc’

Nothing but Neutrals…

DSC_0740STBHi Friends!  It’s time for another great challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  This time around our topping is to use Nothing but Neutrals on your card and or project.  Remember you don’t have to use the toppings to play along, just link up any kind of Birthday card and or project.  You have to come on over and see what my fantastic team did this week!  I love each and everyone of their cards!

Here are a few details on my card: The cardstock is Stampin Up.  The DP is from Recollections- Valentine pack.  The daisies and leaves are a die from Sizzix. I ran the centers of the flowers through a SU embossing folder to give them some texture. The sentiment is from Verve and the rectangles are MFT stitched dies. (Which if you don’t know by now, I like them just a little bit.)  🙂  It took me quite a few attempts to get a photo of this card that showcased the true colors.  I opted for the photo using the natural light, after all it’s usually the best now isn’t it?

Hope to see you at STB!  Until next time, go be creative….it’s good for the soul.  Nanc’

Stacked Die-cuts

DSC_0706

Screen Shot 2015-05-15 at 12.01.58 PMHello Friends,  Time for a great challenge over at Just Us Girls. Sue is hosting and she has asked us to try our hand at Stacked Die-cuts.  I love this trendy- trend, and with so many different dies on the market these days, the sky’s the limit.  I opted to stack my sentiment, however if you do not have a sentiment die you may stack any die of your choosing!  I couldn’t wait to get my Paper Smooches stamps inky again, along with the new matching die-cut set.  Isn’t that painter’s palette the coolest?  My hubby loved this card when I showed it to him! HOWEVER, there is always a however when you show a resident artist your work.  He said, “It would have been cooler if you made the paint circles more free formed, because when you put the paint on a real palette the paint is never that perfectly round.” He has a valid point, so maybe I will try that in the future.  Please don’t tell him I said so. LOL  He did give me a few additional ideas for future cards though! I guess I will keep him around.  I am also linking my card up for the very first time over at The Paper Smooches blog. They have an Anything Goes challenge still going on.  Win Win for me!  I can tell you without a doubt, I will be buying more of their stamps and or die-cuts real soon!

Here is another photo…so you can see that the die cut is raised.  Not sure if you noticed but I ran the die through my Big Shot with a shim to make a point to make the added indention around the die-cut.  I like that look!

Card Details:  I have used three layers of SU Thanks die, the bottom two are in white.  The Paper Smooches stamp set is called I Heart Art and the die-cut is called Positive Strokes.   Cardstock is all Stampin up.  And of course I had to use my MFT stitched rectangle dies.  Hope you come on over to JUGS and join us!  If you are chosen as our Chic of the Week, you will be in the running for a possible guest designer in the future, just like our current GD Ros Crawford this week!   Hope you find sometime to be creative this week!  Take care,  Nanc’

Hello Summer

DSC_0699

Happy Summer Vacation to me…well almost!

Screen Shot 2015-05-15 at 11.22.11 AMI do have one more day of school on Monday, but technically it feels like summer because the kids won’t be there!  This year flew by didn’t it? It seems the older I get the quicker time goes.  Do you feel the same way?  Okay, onto the real reason you stopped by.  I am hosting our Just Us Girls challenge this week and it’s Word Week and the word I have selected is…..SUMMER….which I am sure you figured out by now.  I am also linking this card up to two other challenges that I have been eyeing all week!  The Paper Players, where it’s a tic tac toe challenge where I selected the bottom row; die-cut, patterned paper and any shade of yellow. I MISSED IT! 😦 I also would like to link up to The Curtain Call where the photo inspiration is a beach ball, which further inspired me to use the colors red, blue and yellow on my card.  Plus nothing screams Happy Summer then a beach ball, right?  I had a lot of fun combining these challenge and making my card this week. HOWEVER, this card would not have come to be if it wasn’t for me CASING this fabulous card by one of my idles…..Laurie Schmidlin.  I am in awe of her work and have been for the past 8 years or so, if you have never been to her, blog I have linked up her name for you.  You must visit!

I also need to welcome Ros Crawford as our Guest Designer for the month of June over at JUGS.  Welcome Ros!  Please join us over at Just Us Girls and see what the talented designers did with the word of SUMMER.

Card details:  Lawn Fawn clouds and sun die cut.  Hello Die is from Stampin UP.  The heart was also made with a SU punch and the button is another die from My Favorite Things. The rest I think is pretty simple to figure out.

Hope you have a great start to your summer and please take care,  Nanc’pp247

Animals at STB

STB

Hi there!  I feel like it’s been forever since I posted, but in actuality it hasn’t even been a week.  Just got back from a fantastic weekend away, but will explain all about that at a later date. Over at Seize the Birthday our topping option this time around is Animals.  I have had this adorable stamp set for quite sometime and have never used it.  You know how I feel about coloring, I like the look but I think I stink at it, so I don’t do it very often.  Although, this little guy wasn’t to bad and I got to use my Spectrum Noir pens again.  Please if you have a chance to make a card anytime in the next two weeks or so why not come on over to STB and join us!  The gallery was chock full last time with 225 entries!!  I feel very blessed to run such a well received challenge site with such an awesome group of designers!!   I am also linking up my card to the challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More, where the challenge is to make your mark.  Hope you have a wonderful day, three more days of work for me!  Bring on the summer!  Nanc’
