You’re So Sweet

Hello friends, The temps are already extremely warm here in the sunshine state, so I am back with something to cool me down. I am using this fantastic Ice Cream Sundae set by Pixi Dust Designs. I had not used all the dies on my previous cards using this set so today’s card shows the pretty dish that comes in this set, it also comes with a short one as well.

They also have this darling Ice Cream Die set on sale this week. I have it pictured below.

Card Details: I found this pretty polka-dotted paper from Pink and Main and thought it would work well with my design. I also used some clear Nuvo drops to make my cherry shine. The strip embossing folder with the hearts is from Stampin Up. The rectangle stitched scalloped die is from MFT. The sentiment is also from MFT from the set Sweet Celebrations. I cut it out three times to give it some depth.

Do you like Sprinkles on your ice cream? I sure do! Or do you prefer it dipped in Chocolate? Oh, and I am certainly Team Cherries too!

Beach Theme

Hello, It is Thursday and time for our next Topping at Seize the Birthday. Vicki has chosen a Beach theme for us today. I have been neglecting some of my other stamps and dies and decided it was time to revisit one of my favorite kits from Hero Arts. Sadly the kit is sold out but you can buy the pieces individually if you are interested. I have linked it up for you here. This design was not my own, I was inspired by one of the cards on the Hero Arts website.

Card Details: Not too much to explain, the stamps and dies basically do all the work for you. The sentiment is an oldie from Verve and the Hibiscuses are from Spellbinders. The sentiment banner is from Pink and Main. I used Oxide Inks for the sky and sand and SSS inks for the water and sun because I wanted them a bit more vibrant.

Now come by the Seize the Birthday blog and check out all the fabulous Beach-Themed Birthday cards from my Design Team and our Guests Jolanda and Stef Perry. I hope you will be inspired to join us.

Take care and happy crafting, Nanc’

You Are Such a Tweet Heart

Hello friends, I am back with another card using the May-Small Die of the Month from Spellbinders called Tropical Friends. As these releases come down the pike, I tend to fall head over heels for the SDOM, and it happened once again. How could you not? Just look at that face! I enjoy the foliage and flowers that come in this set too.

HERE is the page where you can get a peek at all of the clubs along with some amazing samples. The Club kits will be available for purchase by subscription starting on the 6th of the month and running through the 27th. However, quantities are limited so if you are interested don’t delay.

I knew I wanted to make a different colored parrot, so I googled it and this is where my inspiration came from. He is called a Golden Conure.

Card Details: The free-formed background is something I drew and cut out of a piece of acetate and I have used it many, many times. The stencil is from Miss Ink Stamps and is called Leafy Green. I used SSS inks to lightly blend my background. The sentiment is from MFT-A Tweet Hello and the banner die I stamped it on is from Pink and Main. I inked up nearly all the die cuts to give them a bit of dimension. This time I got a bit carried away with my splatters. 😏 Last time, it was not enough; this time, it was too many. I also have used some Foam Squares for dimension.

I am linking up over at the Stencil Fun Challenge today.

Birthday Tweetings

Hello Friends, I am ready to share the monthly clubs from Spellbinders with you all, first up is the Small Die of the Month-Tropical Friends. I was excited to see this die coming up as I don’t have very many bird dies in my collection. It was certainly fun to put together once I settled on the colors. Does it take you forever to choose your color palette too? Everything you see on today’s card comes in the SDOM except the greeting.

HERE is the page where you can get a peek at all of the clubs along with some amazing samples. The Club kits will be available for purchase by subscription starting on the 6th of the month and running through the 27th. However, quantities are limited so if you are interested don’t delay.

You should see the Large Die of the Month and the rest of the clubs! They are all wonderful too.

My original thought was to keep the background white but when I looked at it it just didn’t seem right. After all the birds are nestled up in the tree-tops. So I brought out a piece of dark green Cardstock so that the foliage and birds would still pop. As you can see, once I finished ink-blending my leaves I splattered them with some white paint. I did some ink blending on Mr. Toucan and Ms. Parrot too. The sentiment is from Concord and Ninth and is raised with two more layers for some depth. I used Foam Squares behind the parrot.

I am once again sharing my card with Darnell over at NBUS!

A Treat For You

Hello, I am excited to be back today with another card using the fabulous Pixi Dust Designs products. This time, I have a shaker card, which is not something I do very often. This is my first time using this Tag C-Die Set, and I have turned it into a popsicle. Of course, I am sure you figured out that it’s Cherry-flavored. 😆 The cherries are part of the Ice Cream Sundae set.

Instead of using foam tape on my shaker, I prefer to do a large amount of die cutting to build my gap between the base of the object and the acetate window. I love how clean it looks around the edges and that you can’t see the tape. I think this one actually has eleven layers and you can kind of see how thick it is in the photos. I just used a rounded cornered sentiment die for my posicle stick, it worked perfectly.

Because the popsicle is sticking over the end of the card base I shortened the card base down about 1/2 of an inch so that it would still fit in an A2 size envelope. I did that on another card this week for Seize the Birthday’s Topping of- Off the Edge, and loved it.

The sentiment is an oldie from MFT and is in the set-Every Flavor of Happy. The DSP is scraps but I know the teal piece is SU, and the decorative border on the card is made with my Fiskers cutter. I used clear Nuvo drops on my cherries to make them shine. The tied sheer ribbon I put on the top was an afterthought and not sure I like it. 🤔

I am linking up with Darnell over at NBUS as it is the first I have used this fun tag.

Have a PHONEomenal Day

Hello, It is the First of the Month and time for the next Hues of Colors at Color Hues. Julie B has a pretty color combo for us that I really enjoyed. We also have a new guest joining us! Welcome Sue, happy to have you designing with us. One of my favorite parts of running a Card Challenge is to see the cards as they come in before we go live. It is so enjoyable to see the different directions everyone takes with their cards and how different they all are. I certainly have a talented bunch!

This darling set is owned by a friend. I cut everything out in white as I didn’t know when I would use it. So when I saw this color combo coming up I thought it would be perfect, all I had to do was add the color. I have everything that I used on this card listed below.

  • Vintage Phone-Sugar Pea Designs
  • Call Me Sentiment-Sugar Pea Designs
  • Notched Corner Frames-Spellbinders
  • Large Dot EF-Stampin Up
  • Hearts- MFT
  • Long Oval die is most likely Sizzix or a very old Spellbinders
  • Oxide Inks-Twisted Citron/Wilted Violet
  • Foam Squares
  • Glitter paper gems

Please stop by Color Hues and check out the cards by my talented team and then play along! We would love to have you! Nanc’

Life is Better with Friends

Hello Friends, I hope you are having a good day! I am back with a CAS card using that darling set again by Pixi Dust Designs, It is called Keep Swimming. I was in the midst of putting things away in my studio when this set called to me and said, “One more card.” How could I resist those faces?

A Few Card Details: First, I made my own wave stencil out of scrap paper (even though I have a few water stencils, I just wanted something a bit more subtle) and inked up the bottom of the card with three colors of Oxide Inks; Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, and Antique Linen. Next, I cut out all the cute little images in various colors of paper and sometimes even white and inked those up too. I took a Copic marker to my rocks. Before I adhered everything down, I decided to spatter the background with water and some white paint. I was afraid to do too much and might have gone to light. 😏 I used some Foam Squares for some dimension and the sentiment is an oldie from MFT. I also took some paint to the critters to give them some personality.

Know that you are in our prayers

Hello, I am back with a simple and quick Sympathy card using the Stampendous set released by Spellbinders this month. The set is called Sincere Sentiments.

The paper in the background is called One of a Kind 12 x 12 from Paper Studio. I used the Nestled Hemstitch Rectangles again and backed it with black paper. I took a tan Prisma Colored pencil and lightly colored the leaves. The tiny flower is from Four Petal Bloom and the leaves are from Envelope of Wonder Etched Dies. A few gold paper gems to finish it off. This card came together in just a few minutes; sometimes that is a good thing when you need these types of cards in a hurry.

Hope Your Birthday is…

Hello, It is time for the next Topping over at Seize the Birthday. This time Shirley has a fun one for us. The Topping is off the Edge and you can interpret that in many ways. You can take your design to extend off the edge of the card like I have done, or you can have your image end where the card base ends, or any other way you can think of to achieve this idea.

A Few Card Details: The set I mostly used for this card is from Papertrey Ink and it’s called Beach Bag Die. This is not mine and belongs to a friend. The three things that are not from this kit are the Flip Flops, the white leaves (MFT), and the sentiment (Honey Bee). The DSP is from Pink and Main. I used Clear Nuvo drops to make the lenses in my glasses shine. I did some ink blending on the hat and the sunglasses. This set is as cute as it can be and is actually a gift card holder if you wish as the Beach bag opens.

On the inside of the card, the sentiment finishes off and reads…Hope your Birthday is Flippin Fabulous.

I really enjoyed this Topping idea, Shirley! I hope you will come by the Seize the Birthday Blog and see how my Teammates and our two guests interpreted this Topping. We have Milla and Jolanda joining us! Welcome, ladies.

Have a wonderful day! Nanc’

Wishing You a Day…

Hello, I have been under the weather since the weekend but luckily have yet to share this card showcasing the latest sentiment set by Stampendous and Spellbinders. It is called Birthday Messages. It is a great set with quite a few wonderful phrases.

Now, what is a birthday without sparkly party hats and streamers? I used the fabulous Birthday Wreath Add-Ons set once again. Plus, I can’t forget the pretty EOM- Faux Stitched Petal. I used the debossed side again. I actually think I prefer it. I think it looks like candles. I also used some white glitter paper for the ruffle parts of the hats and the Notched Corner Frames. The most time-consuming part was putting the dots and stars back in the hats. I find intricate work enjoyable so I didn’t mind at all.

As you know photographing mainly white cards can be difficult and this card looks quite a bit better in person.

If you place an order after clicking on one of the links below, I will receive a small commission, and also get to continue as an affiliate with Spellbinders at no cost to you. I certainly appreciate your support! Thank you so much!
