Dabbling in Mixed Media and my VERVE Story!

Hello Friends,

Hope your doing well and enjoying your day!

I have been wanting to dabble again in Mixed Media and over the last

couple of days snuck in some time to finally do it!

I got my Inspiration from a new to me Challenge called Time Out Challenges.

Here are 2 other photos!

Over at Time Out Challenges they asked us to CASE Donna Mikasa

with our own twist.

Here is her beautiful card!

Donna

I decided to see what other challenges I could combine it with and I was

lucky enough to find 2 more!

The Paper Players is playing Tic Tac Toe this week and

I used Any shade of Pink, Patterned Paper and Birthday!

pp202

The Pink Elephant is Anything Goes this week!

TPE-ChallengeBanner

I love both of these Blogs and have been a fan for a very long time!

Now some details about my card!

First thing I did was spray my paper with some Ranger Rick Funky Fuscia ink spray.

I sprayed way to much…LOL… so I took my CM circle cutter and cut out the

circle with the biggest bold blotch and backed it with some yellow paper instead.

So that yellow circle is actually cut out the front of the card and not on top.

Next, I took my white embossing paste and my square stencil and went to work.  So fun!!

After it dried, I sponged SU-Daffodil Delight around the edges and down some of my raised squares.

The Elegant flower stamp you see is from Verve and I have to share with you my

Verve story! I want to give a HUGE Shout Out and

thank you to Julee Tilman-owner of Verve.

I lost my very first and favorite flower stamp that is on my card

and made mention of it very casually on FB, when someone asked how often

do you clean up your creative space?  My reply was that if you don’t clean up your

desk every so often in between cards that you will risk losing your favorite stamp.

Julee saw this message on someone else’s FB wall

and told me she would be happy to send me another one for FREE!

Isn’t that GREAT customer service!!!!!!

I was so happy when I got it in the mail days later!

My hubby thought I was NUTS!  Getting excited over a single stamp!

So that is my little VERVE story!!

That is why I will always Shop VERVE!!!!

Anyway back to my card details…lol.

I doubled up my flowers with some pop dots after I fussy cut them out.

Then I stamped my VERVE birthday sentiment, added my ribbon, candy dots and I was done.

I am pretty happy with it!

Thanks for sticking with me for this long post!

have a fantastic day, and go check out all the blogs I have mentioned!

You will be glad you did and if you don’t have any Verve stamps…well

what are you waiting for I have linked them up as well!

Happy stamping,

Nanc’

Tag You’re It Challenge…

Have you seen the new Challenge on the web?

Its called…

 Tag You’re It!

Super clever huh!!  Jackie Rockwell is the brains behind it!  She is really Uber talented!

They are having a mini warm-up challenge this week, meaning it’s only going to be

up for 5 days instead of every other week.

I LOVE making tags and I couldn’t wait to play along!

Here is my TAG followed by the inspiration photo.

IMG_0009

I pretty much paper pieced almost the entire thing!

The sentiment is from Verve and my Island and Sun

It all started with this great clean Sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.

FMS Final 142-001

Then I wanted to make sure I played along with the Stamp TV Monday Challenge

which is being hosted by my BFFIBL and fellow teammate times 2 Sharyn!

STV Challenge

Now onto some Personal FUN I have had over the past month!

My good friend Sue Lelli and I had the opportunity to take a class together that was

being taught by Teresa Collins. She shared with us some of her new products that

were going to be featured the next day on HSN.  I had a really great time!

She was very sweet and very talented!

Horrible photo of me!  YUCK!

Then recently I also got to see a very dear and so amazing friend of mine and fellow

DT member over at Seize the Birthday, JoAnn Burnham.  She has been through a rough patch in life and

is the most faithful, resilient, and upbeat person I have ever met.  I admire her more now then I did before!

We met for lunch, took a Stamping class at a local craft store, and then went shopping.

It was a wonderful day and one I will cherish!

Hot Shot!

Hello Friends!

Today over at Just Us Girls Maria has chosen a great Color Combo!

I needed a masculine card for a co-worker and knew I wanted to

incorporate basketballs in my design, and a few weeks ago when I saw Maria’s color

choices I thought why not!

The card is going to be filled with student signatures so I made it pretty large.

I was a little worried about the

yellow at first, but it worked out pretty well!  My neutrals obviously are

white and black…hope it’s okay that I used both!

The card came together rather quickly…not sure it needs any explaining!

I hadn’t used some of those letter stamp sets in sooooo long…

it was nice to get them inky again!

Screen Shot 2014-05-25 at 3.10.36 PM

Now, Please head on over to Just Us Girls and see what the team did

with this color combo…I promise you won’t be disappointed!

While your at it PLEASE JOIN us!

If your chosen as Chic of the Week it puts you in the running at

a chance to be a Guest Designer with JUGS!

Hope to see you there!

The Paper Players

IMG_0001

Hi Friends,

The Paper Players is celebrating their 200th Challenge !

WOW!  Congrats to the Design Team!

This week you got to pick one of the DT’s favorite challenges

and choose that as your layout or idea.

I chose Sandy’s sketch!

pp138

I made this card last night!  Yes I know, the colors look oddly familiar, they ARE the same

colors I used on my card I posted on Thursday, but I loved them so much

that I couldn’t put them away!  So I am also going to link this card up once again to

the great Color Combo they have going on over at Colour Me!

_Graphic

Do you see the brown strip of victorian lace on the right edge of my card? I accidentally did that when

I was trimming some of the paper down and thought it looked soooooo cool!  Love when that happens.

Each piece down the right side edge are individual pieces. As I have said before, that look of Victorian layers seems

to be my signature.  I use layering a lot and LOVE it!  I hate to waste a bit of paper, so I use every single scrap.

The rectangular window was cut with a spellbinders die and the great DP put behind it.

The stamp is something I picked up at Michaels…one of those go to stamps that I love!

The rest is self explanatory!

I have linked up both sites for you soooo go on and have a look!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Technique time #245

IMG_0002

Hello Friends,

Today over at Just Us Girls we have a great and simple technique that

Sue V. has challenged us to!  I am sure your going to love it! I did!

Screen Shot 2014-05-29 at 7.09.31 PM

This technique has a couple different titles…  Watercolor stamping and Watercolor Spritz.

If you have a spray bottle filled with water then you will be good to go!

I have linked up a video for you HERE!

Here are a few card details:

The script background paper I have had forever so I couldn’t begin to tell you whose it is.

The stamp sets are both from Stampin Up- Chalk Talk and Summer Silhouettes.

The lighter gray on some of my leaves is because I misted the stamp twice .

I like the different color tones.

Now,  please won’t you head on over to Just Us Girls and see what

my oh so talented teammates has been up to!

While your there please JOIN US!  We would love to see what you

can come up with by adding a little Spritz of water!

Summertime…

Better

….and the living is easy!  Had to finish my line from my title. LOL

Pretty soon the living will be easy….3 more days of school. WooHooo!

In honor of “Summertime” being around the corner I decided that would

be a great “Topping” option over at Seize the Birthday this time around!

If your not a toppings kinda person, well…..you can just

stick with our usual “Anything Goes”Birthday!

The choice is yours!

CARD INFO:

I got a little creative with my card.  I wanted to use a Sun on my

card and all I had in my stamps was a small one.  So I stretched

the envelope and use a Doily stamp from Stampin UP.

My hubby thought it was kinda strange… and the jury is

still out for me, I am undecided how I feel about this card.

The yellow from my tag and sun match much better in person

to my DP, then they do in my photo too.

I made the clouds myself.

The pennant die is from MFT.

The sentiment is a Studio G from Michaels.

The paper is from Fancy Pants-titled Parkbench.

Now,  Head on over to Seize the Birthday and check out

my fellow designers wonderful cards and see what “ SUMMERTIME”

means to them and then show us what it means to YOU!

See you there,

Nanc’
