Bunny Hugs and Easter Wishes

Hello friends, Happy Good Friday! Today I have an Easter card using the darling set from Simon Hurley and Spellbinders called Easter Bunnies. I paired that set with a cute stencil I got last year from Waffle Flower. I love that Bow background and it has been far too long since I got it out to play with.

After I stenciled my bows I started coloring those sweet bunnies and eggs using a mix of Copics and Prisma Colored Pencils. Then it hit me that I probably should ground the bunnies and make them a background. So, I decided to make some rolling hills and sky. I didn’t want to throw in a new color so I decided to stick with the teal hills and yellow sky. I love the way it turned out.

***My design rule of thumb is to try to stick with only three colors when I am creating and it seems most often that those are the cards that turn out the best. Remember, you can use any hue of those colors so it gives you more to work with than you might think.

I am playing along with my old Teammates at Just Us Girls for their Anything Goes Stencil Week. Next, over at Stencil Fun Challenge, their option is Easter/Spring. Last but not least, over at Addicted to Stamps and More for Any Occasion.

Happy B Day

Hello friends, I am thrilled to be back with another card combining two sets from Pixi Dust Designs. The two sets I have used on this Birthday card are; Bee Happy and Dream Big. I am really enjoying my time guesting with Pixi Dust and their wonderful products. I have fallen head over heels for the bees so I had to add one to this card.

It is also the 4th Thursday of the month and time for the next Topping at Seize the Birthday. Linda is our wonderful hostess and she has picked a perfect Spring Topping for us. All you have to do is add Spring florals to your Birthday card. Easy, Huh?

I don’t think this card needs much explanation and I have everything linked below. However, I wanted to incorporate the word Bee in my sentiment so I went looking for the words Happy and Day and found them on an old set from Lawn Fawn called-Happy Happy Happy. I used some Nuvo drops and glitter on the center of my flowers and vellum for the bees’ wings.

I certainly appreciate you coming by and I hope you will pop on over to Seize the Birthday and check out the fabulous floral cards by my talented Desing Team and our two guests. We have two Deborahs playing along. This is our last challenge with Deborah Wheeler and I want to take a quick minute and thank her for being so awesome to work with. I also want to welcome Deb Dukes, she was the winner of our last challenge using the topping. Welcome, Deb.

You are the Best

Hello friends! Today I am back with one more card using Spellbinders-Mirrored Arch Nested Sprigs Press Plate from the Mirrored Arch Collection. This particular plate has matching Mirrored Arch Label Dies and they are terrific to coordinate with these plates or work on their own. I don’t have them yet, so I had to do something a bit different. I pressed these using Black Better Press ink but only used the 1st and third plates on my background and the sentiment in the center. I then used Prisma Colored Pencils and did a loose coloring. The flowers are the Fresh Picked Buttercups and I sponged the centers and added some clear Nuvo drops and glitter to make them sparkle.

After I took my photos and really got a good look at my card it looks kinda weird how the the foliage stops and there is nothing there. So in hindsight, I shouldn’t have skipped that second plate. 😏 Whatcha going to do, realistically you can’t love every card you make! I think the Buttercups saved it a bit.

Mother’s Day

Hello friends, I hope you are doing well. This card features a Spellbinder’s Better Press item that I have yet to share with you, it is called the Mirrored Arch Nested Sprigs Press Plate. It it so pretty. There are also matching dies so you can cut out each layer. I do not have those, so today I just foiled the pretty outer layer and the second inner layer in silver. Below I have a picture of the plate so you can see exactly what I mean.

Remember the greeting on this card is also new this month. It is from the set called Mother’s and Father’s Day Sentiments. This is one of those plates where you foil each sentiment all at once and then you can also cut them out all at once too. So this is the leftover piece that I had saved. The flowers are an older set from Spellbinders called Glimmer Bouquet. (Sadly no longer available.) As you can see, I foiled those on two different tones of aqua cardstock. The white sprigs are leftovers from my bits drawer. That drawer is certainly growing bigger by the day, and it’s time to either use them or pitch them.

This was a super quick card to put together using a premade sentiment and some leftover pieces from my bits drawer. Isn’t it amazing what a few sequins can do to a card?

I am joining Darnell over at NBUS as this is the first time using the BP Mirrored Arch Nested Sprigs background.

Bee Happy

Hello friends, I am delighted to be back with another card as a guest over at Pixi Dust Designs. I could not BEE happier to add this darling Bee Happy set to my collection. If you are not familiar with Pixi Dust Designs, you must check it out. Every die set that I have the pleasure of owning is so cute and has so many pieces. This set alone has 3 variations of bees, sentiment dies, a honeycomb, and a honey pot. I had a ball yesterday making two cards while it was raining outside. You will have to BEE patient as I will be showing you the other one at a later date! 😆

Some card details: I ink-blended my yellow background in each of the four corners with a bit of Mustard Seed an Walnut Stain Oxide Inks. Then, I cut out the honeycomb and reinserted the border piece. Next, I went looking for a vine to use to hang the honeycomb from. I found one that worked out perfectly from Memory Box called Lavish Branch. The flowers are from Spellbinders in the Four Petal Blooms set. Everything was ink blended for dimension including the bees. I doubled the vellum on the bee’s wings and I just love how they turned out. All left to do was cut out the sentiment and assemble the card. I added a few gold glitter paper gems to finish it off.

More to Celebrate

Hello friends, I am back with one more Celebratory card using the fun Birthday card using this Better Press Plate called Celebrate Flowers which is part of Yana’s Let’s Celebrate Collection. If you have not seen her collection it is quite lovely and worth a peek. I posted a card a few days ago using this set and loved it so much that I had to make one more. This time it’s a monochromatic card in different shades of Lilac.

Just a Few Card Details: The top panel of the background was made by swiping the ink cube across the white paper. I wanted to use the same Gina K ink cube-Medium Orchid that I pressed the word Celebrate with. The other two pieces are just card stock. After I adhered the three strips together I used the A2 Size Matting Basic Rectangle dies to cut out a perfect panel. I also used the same Birthday Wreath Add-On dies to jazz up the card front. However this time, I exchanged the gift box for a yummy cupcake. I doubled the foil wrapper using two different types of glitter paper, making it look a little more realistic. I also colored the little flowers with Copics in the same shade. I used the Notched Corner Frames to cut out the celebrate panel.

I am linking my card up over at Word Power Challenge. Where the sentiment is to be the focus of the card. This is the first time playing along with this challenge. Of course it is run by Diane and Darlene and I think that makes 8 challenges, but I may have lost track. 😆

I have also linked up Yana’s video using this set HERE!

Mom-Thanks for Everything

Hello friends, Hope all is well with you! I have a Mother’s Day card today that started with this shiny pretty paper from Paper Rose Studio that Spellbinders is now carrying. The piece I have chosen is from the Floral Backgrounds Silver Foil pack and the entire pack is full of shiny goodness. It comes in both 6 X 6 and 12 x 12 sizes. The sentiment that I foiled in silver is also new this month and is a Better Press set called Mother’s and Father’s Day Sentiments. This is one of those plates that you foil each sentiment all at once and then you cut them out all at once too. I just love the efficiency of that so much! Now, I have three other sentiments already ready for future projects.

It is always so hard to get a decent pic of foiled paper. At least in the pic below you can see that the entire background is in fact silver. As you can see, I used my favorite Tulips from the Rain Bouquet set from last month. I am still in love with that die set. The Tulips and foliage were sponged for added detail. I cut three circles in the DSP for some added interest. A few paper gems to finish it off.

I am linking up at Addicted to Stamps and More for their Any Occasion Challenge.

Celebrate

Hello friends, Today I am sharing a fun Birthday card using this Better Press Plate called Celebrate Flowers which is part of Yana’s Let’s Celebrate Collection. If you have not had a chance to look at this entire collection, it is a must! Each piece is absolutely gorgeous and I have added a few to my personal wish list. All of her examples are just amazing!

After inking up my plate with the three different colors of Better Press Inks; Safron, Hydrangea, and Wild Berry I decided to get out my Birthday Wreath Add-On dies and make this a real celebration. I really love the gift box and streamers that come in this set. The tiny sentiment-Let’s Celebrate is from the Many Birthdays set. It fit so perfectly between the letters.

I also softly colored the flower images using some Copics. What is great about this set is you can either stamp the words by themselves and stop there or you can add the small intricate flowers if you choose. The set comes with two separate plates and a registration piece so that you can easily line the flowers up.

I have linked up Yana’s video using this set HERE! She explains everything perfectly.

Another Miss You

Hello friends, Happy Monday! I am back today with another card using this gorgeous Better Press Plate from the Copperplate Everyday Sentiments Collection. I have the opportunity to work with the plate-Miss You, but there are 6 different sentiments in the entire collection. I just think the font is so pretty, don’t you? I wanted to change it up a bit and decided why not foil on a divided panel. What do you think, is it too distracting? I like it and hope to try again very soon.

I finally ordered some Black Foil from Spellbinders and could not be happier with how well it looks when you are done, especially on a Press Plate. I used a mix of Spellbinder dies on this card, which are listed below. As you can see I did a bit of ink blending on my bow. I had to shorten the bow points to fit them on the base of the card. A few paper embellishments to finish it off.

I really love this color combination and will have to use it again in the future!

Congratulations at CH

Hello friends, It is the middle of the month, and also happens to be my hubby’s birthday today, and time for the next Hues of Color at Color Hues. Carol is our wonderful hostess and she has chosen a beautiful color pairing of Cream and Blue. I immediately decided that this combination would make a nice color pairing for a wedding card, so that is what I did.

Card Details: I knew I wanted to use texture paste on my background and of course as soon as I opened the jar I knew it was dried out. I think I had only used it twice before.☹️ Anyway, I thought why not add a little water to it and see if I can revive it! It worked! It wasn’t the perfect consistency but I managed to spread enough on this card.

Here is a list of products I used:

  • Stitched hearts-MFT
  • Texture Paste-
  • Spring Foliage-Sizzix
  • Spring Things (Bees)- Sizzix
  • Mini Everyday Sentiments (Foiled)-Spellbinders
  • Tiny Flowers-Rain Boot Bouquet-Spellbinders

I hope you will come over to Color Hues and check out my talented Design Team’s cards, along with our guest Steph, and join us. We would love to have you!

Take care and happy creating! Nanc’
