Color my world with family, friends and some time to be creative making cards!

Warning Crafters this is not card or project related!

This blog is a reflection of my life and I like to keep things real and

by posting this on my blog for my family and I to look back on someday!

This is the photo collage and letter that accompanied my Christmas card this year to some of the relatives

that don’t see us either in person or on Facebook!

The corresponding numbers you see or shall I say don’t see, in this photo collage accompany the letter.

It will make more sense when you read it.

Basically every time I say Thankful in the letter I put  a corresponding photo to go along with it.

(Trust me in the Christmas card you could see all of the photos including the numbers.)Family Christmas JPGDecember 2013

We hope this letter finds you well and you are finding sometime to enjoy life as you get ready for the Holiday Season!  The Leppeks have had a relatively busy time this year starting January off with the Hall of Fame Bowl in Tampa, to root on Michigan!  It was a very exciting game despite the loss, and we were (3)Thankful we were together to experience it.  Ty is a Junior now at FSU despite the college thinking he is ready to graduate with the amount of hours he has already taken (117).  He is also President of FSU’s Ballroom Club and is (7)Thankful he has the chance to teach his generation some of the dances of the past.  Ty also had a paid internship this Summer in Sarasota, so we were beyond thrilled that he was home with us.  He was working 50+ hours for a home automation company while still managing to take classes online.  They loved him so much that they offered him a job and he currently works for them remotely while attending FSU.  He was given the position of associate product manager for UX and UI, a field he hopes to pursue post grad.  He is in charge of their app design for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.  The company also paid for him to attend and work the Largest Home Automation Conference in the U.S. in Denver, Colorado in September.  He was in his glory to say the least.  Talking to people about technology is what he does best!  In case you haven’t noticed he has switched educational gears and is pursuing a more lucrative and stable career, besides that of a music teacher.  His passion for Music is still burning strong, and I do believe it is what he was suppose to do with his life, however, he is equally or maybe even more gifted with technology and is enthusiastic about it as well.  In his spare time, which is about Zero, he is writing a Young Adult Children’s book, and with the encouragement of his 8th grade English teacher he is determined to publish it someday!  Ty also had his first set of stitches in his hand this year, it was moving day at FSU and my Birthday, and his mom told him to hurry it up, (Yes, Guilty) and needless to say the detour to the Hospital slowed things down quite a bit. So 7 stitches later, accompanied by a Birthday lunch at the local Chic-Fil-A,  we were just (8,9) Thankful it wasn’t worse.

With Tyler being home this summer we took it as a sign and opportunity to take a Family Vacation to NYC, a dream of ours for quite sometime; being the Theatre enthusiast that we are. We packed as much as we possibly could into those 5 days and enjoyed every moment of it.  The weather was perfect!  We managed to take in 2 shows; Newsies and First Date.  We also, had our photos taken with the famous actors who stared in First Date…Zac Levi and Krista Rodriguez.  It was a night we won’t soon forget.  Between Central Park, Rockfeller Plaza, and the Empire State Building, just to name a few, I think one of the most moving moments was visiting the Twin Towers Memorial, it is something I will truly never forget.  So (2)Thankful for memories like those!

Dave has become quite a craftsmen this year and has started a side business called: carveymyart@aol.com.  As you can see in the photo, and the front of the Christmas card,  he is very talented.  It all starts with a piece of Pine and turns into a work of ART!  He is having difficulty keeping up with the demand and his ideas are plentiful.  People keep telling us we need to take this idea to the TV show Shark Tank! We don’t know about that, however I am (4,5) thankful he is enjoying his craft as much as I enjoy mine. He spends a great deal of time in his shed and he sure keeps him out of trouble that way.

Finally, my dad is doing well at the age of 83 I am (6)Thankful for everyday we get to spend with that wonderful man and that he continues to be in good health.  Both the photo of my two men, and the photo of Dave, Dad and Ty were taken this  Thanksgiving.  So I leave you with my final statement that I am continuously (1)Thankful for memories like these.

May your Holidays be joyful!

Love,

Nancy, Dave and Ty

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!

You have blessed me this year more then you will ever know!

I can’t wait to see where 2014 takes me on this wonderful journey!

Love,

Nancy

If I Could Save Time…..

Today over at Just Us Girls we have a great Inspiration Photo from Lisa!

Screen Shot 2013-12-25 at 7.09.26 PM

When I first saw this photo…I got really excited because I knew that because it

actually didn’t say Happy New Year anywhere on the photo, I had the flexibility to change it up a bit

and think outside the box.  I was then talking to and looking at fellow designer Sharyn’s card

for this challenge and one thing led to another and I realized I had this great

stamp set from Gina K Designs that would work perfectly!

Thanks Sharyn for your constant inspiration and Lisa for a great photo this week!

Okay enough is enough Nancy…get on with it!

IMG_0101

What do you think???  Kinda outside the box or what?

The stamps from the set are the clock and the word treasure.

The sentiment at the bottom I made on my computer. (cheating I know!)

Let me explain some details on how my card came to be.

I took my jar stamp and stamped it on a piece of card stock and

then put it in my printer and enlarged it as it was to small.

I colored it with colored pencil…Hubby says next time don’t stamp it

in dark ink as it messes up the shading with those very dark lines.

(That was my art lesson for the day!) Thanks Hubby!

He had the brilliant idea to make it

appear that it had a lid on it even though it doesn’t by using a gold pencil.

When the card was finished I thought, why not add gold stickles to the lines on the lid

to give it some depth.  I was very happy with how it came out!

The clock was also colored with prisma colored pencil.

I am going to give it to my son when he is back at college.

I sure hope he doesn’t pay me a blog visit anytime soon!

Now, head on over to the JUGS blog and see what my talented

teammates did with this challenge!

Let it Snow….

Hello Friends,

Christmas was a huge success at this house…and I hope you can say the same!

It’s time to jump back into the world of card making and post something that is long over due!

It’s my turn to post a card over at Crafty Card Gallery and the

theme this month is….Snowman or Snowflakes.

IMG_0100

I knew right away which stamp set I was going to finally get

around to using for this card.  I have this great snowman set from Gina K Designs

called Snow One Like you! and I have had it for quite a while,

and it was way past time for it to get inky!

I am sending this card to my Brother-in Law that took a fall up in Boston and is recovering

from having a bleed on his brain and needing surgery.  He is doing very well by the way!  Thank goodness!

He is such a great guy with the best attitude…and I think he will like my card!

He also loves winter!  Which I don’t quite understand! LOL

I still need to work on my sponging technique…this has been something

I have always struggled with!  I also used colored pencil to color my snowman.

I will be back tomorrow with a great JUGS challenge!

Hope you have a wonderful day and find sometime to be creative!

Faux Technique Time over at JUGS

Happy Holiday Season to you all,

Today over at Just Us Girls...the very talented Jughead Sue V. has a great technique for us

to try!  It is called the Faux Technique.  Although I have heard of it, I’ve never tried it before.

It was a lot of fun and a little intimidating at first and then there was no stopping me!  I wanted to keep it

Christmas related this week, but was getting a little tired of the same color pallet,

so I opted to make a card with non-traditional Christmas colors.

What do you think?  Pink and Black work okay for you?

(In the photo it looks peach…but trust me it’s pink along with the tissue paper)

IMG_0002

Screen Shot 2013-12-12 at 9.58.33 PM

Isn’t Sue’s card amazing? You can really see her crinkled tissue.

However, on my card I got carried away and covered to much of it.

Here is a secret……wait to crinkle your tissue till all your ink is dry

then you won’t have to cover up so many of your blotchy mistakes….LOL

When I first stamped the ornaments I wasn’t feeling it, but it the end it came together just fine!

Card details:

Cardstock is all Stampin Up

Black ink is Stazon.

Stamps: Ornaments are from Verve.

The sentiment is from Gina K designs.

The little flower looking thing on the tag…who knows?  Dollar bin at Michael’s

Made the tag myself and paper pierced it.

The die cut is from MFT.

Some pop dots, ribbon, twine and a button finishes it off!

Now that I am looking at the photo on my computer…I should have added some bling!

Head on over to Just Us Girls and join us won’t you?  The team and our guest Designer

Jan Del Bone have made some really great cards!

Have an awesome day!

A Winter Project…

IMG_0058

Hello Friends…Are you in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Holidays?

I personally have never in my life been this far behind, but I think I am going to give myself a little break, cause I did

have a major distraction on my hands this week with the burglary!  So I guess I can’t beat myself up to bad about it.

My son turns 21 on the 22nd of Dec. and needless to say I am not ready for that either…emotional or physically…LOL!

Where did the time go?  I can’t believe it!

My son is my ultimate joy and will be home tomorrow night from college!  Woohoo! Can’t wait!

Anyhoo, your not here to listen to me whine or talk about my son now are you?

Today’s post is also something I created a few weeks back for the December issue of Die Cut Crazy magazine.

Screen Shot 2013-12-12 at 8.02.40 PM

I am not going to show you each step by step photos like I did in the magazine,

you would have to buy it to see those…wink wink, however, I will show you a few of them!

Here is a link to the on-line magazine if your interested.  This app is designed for both iPhone and iPad.

I had the best time making this Mixed Media Door Hanger.  Once I get my nerve up to start MM I really do enjoy it!

It all started with a piece of cardboard, card stock, tissue paper, Modge Podge, and acrylic paints.

IMG_0003

Then I took some of my stencils that I have had FOREVER and had some fun with them.

IMG_0046

Here is the finished product!
IMG_0062

I am entering this project over at the Mixed Media Color Challenge.

Happy Holidays MCC Badge

Their challenge is to use whatever colors inspire you to create a holiday mixed media project.

It’s not to late…you have till Dec. 17th before the challenge ends.

Okay that is all for me today…remember that in the middle of this rush of the

Holiday Season take sometime for yourself and be creative!

 It’s good for the soul!

Life got interrupted…

WARNING this is about LIFE …Not card/ project related and very long!

For those of you that read my blog and I am friends with on Facebook…I want to apologize to you

because you have had to endure this a time or two already.  However, I felt the need to share

my story with as many people as I could.  Spreading the word to please be more careful, cautious, and aware

of this very unsafe and not so trusting world of ours.  I am also hoping it will give me some closure.

Friday, Dec. 6th 2013  approximately 10:45 AM

My sister was coming to my house the other morning to let my dog out (due to the fact that she had acquired

a urinary tract infection and can’t hold it all day while I am at work.)  She lives one street over by the way so she is on foot.

When she gets close to my house she sees a black car backed into my driveway with the motor running.

As  she approaches the car the guy rolls down his dark tinted window.  She proceeds to ask him why he

is here, and he tells her that no one is home and that he just wanted to get some oranges from our fruit trees in the back yard.

She tells him several times that someone is home now and that he needs to leave and shouldn’t be here.

Later realizing, that the reason he kept repeating himself is that he was stalling.

He finally starts to pull away as my sister proceeds to the side of my house.

Next, she realizes that the back gate leading to my back yard is open.

She proceeds through the gate and into my back yard and notices my window screen lying in the grass

and one of my windows is broken.  She races back around to the front of the house to see if she can see the car that

she just asked to leave moments before, in hopes to get a better look or possibly a tag.

(You probably know where this is headed.)

Not knowing the danger that is lurking inside she goes into my house to check on my dog.

She gets to the middle of my dining room which is about 7 feet from my bedroom and

sees that Muffy seems to be unharmed and in her cage surrounded by glass directly beneath the broken window.

She says to Muffy that she will be right back.  I couldn’t be more thankful at this instance that I no longer have

my land line phone and that she neglected to bring her phone with her that day.  What a blessing !!!

She leaves my house and proceeds to run home to get her phone to call 911, none the wiser that

moments before she was feet away from the second man hiding in my bedroom.

Moments later she returns to my house as she is talking to the police on her cell phone,

my neighbor directly across the street comes out to tell her that minutes after she left a man with a

very large and heavy pillowcase came racing across her front lawn.

( My hubby and I are still at work at this point.)

After the police arrive and go inside the house to make sure it was clear, they

tell her how very lucky it was that she left the house as quickly as she did

because it could have ended very, very differently.  They said it was obvious

that my sister had startled him because he had left in haste leaving behind a crowbar on my bed.

My hubby and I arrive home moments later, and after speaking to the officers and

several eye witnesses, we realize how very fortunate we really are.

I am so thankful my sister was unharmed!!!

All total we lost about $4500.00 worth of jewelry and electronics.  I have some pieces of jewelry that meant the

world to me.  My mom’s wedding band that I have worn everyday for 17 years, though regretfully

had decided to take off  Wednesday morning because I had a small rash on that finger.

A ruby and diamond necklace of hers that my father had given her that was one of a kind.

Last but certainly not least, this necklace that was a Christmas gift from my son just last year.

210972105_MV_LG-1

I think the title of this piece says it all.

As long as we have Love’s embrace…the rest really doesn’t matter!

Thanks for listening,

Nanc’
