Thankful!

I have a quick post for you today! I hope you aren’t tiring of these SU leaves as of yet, as I am just getting started….LOL.  This card was inspired by three different challenges.  The first was Fusion Card Challenge where they have a Fabulous fall photo, secondly…. Inkspirational Challenges where the requirement is vellum, and the last but not least…. is Time Out Challenges, where they have a phrase about being grateful. It was so easy to get inspired with that gorgeous front porch scattered with leaves.  I also thought the Vellum tied in really well with the illuminated candles.  I blended oxide inks on my white leaves to begin with and then sprinkled them with water, Then I heat embossed my sentiment on vellum. I added some orange gems and some Nuvo drops to finish it off.

I am so thankful for your visits! HUGS!  Nanc’

Color Throwdown/ Sympathy

Hope you are having a great day!  As I mentioned a few posts ago, I am in love with my new SU leave dies and today I have another card for you and probably tomorrow as well.  This color combination over at the Color Throwdown grabbed my interest, so I thought why not give it a try. My orange isn’t as dark as their’s….and I hope it’s okay!  Do you think the blue looks unusual peeking out behind the negative of my leaves? I kinda like it. I also thought it would be perfect for a male sympathy card, which is why I made this to begin with. A former colleague of mine, and now a current colleague of my hubbies, just lost his daughter suddenly at age 32. So very, very sad and I hope my card can somehow lift his spirits for a minute or two.  Not sure you can tell in my photo, but I still have some gold sparkly paper left over from my son’s wedding and that is what I used to cut my leaves out with. The sentiment is from SU and is heat embossed in gold as well. The background was sponged with Oxide Inks and I added some Nuvo drops to tie it all together.

I will be back tomorrow with another card! Nanc’

Sip Sip Hooray!

Hello!  Vicki is our hostess this week at Just Us Girls and she has a great photo for us. As soon as I saw those wine glasses on the table I knew I was going to break out one of my new MFT sets ( Margarita Shaker Die and Spirited Sentiments) and make a shaker card.  The only thing that completely backfired is, I decided to finally open up my Gelatos that I have had for ages and see how they worked.  Little did I know, or use my brain, that they smear when you rub your finger over them.  So now my background paper that was once white is now pink. If you know my style you probably know that I don’t do shaker cards very often, but it was fun.  If you look closely my margarita glass has sugar on the top (fine glitter)…I prefer sugar over salt! What about you?

Please come over and check out what the ladies did, and before I go I would like to say thanks to my pal Linda for being such a fabulous guest this month! Nanc’

Foliage…

Hello,  Hope you are having a good day. Today our new challenge starts at Seize the Birthday and our Topping is Foliage.  I saw this great card by Jan Taylor, and I knew I wanted to CASE it.  When this topping came up, I knew it was the perfect time.  I can’t find the original post to link it up for you, so I have a picture of it below. The leaf die is from MFT and the underlayment is a panel inked up with Oxide Inks. The fun dotted label is from Gina K and the sentiment is SU.

I hope you have a wonderful day, and if you are crafting sometime soon, I hope you will link up a card for Seize the Birthday!  Nanc’

Here is Joy’s fabulous card!

Pastels/ Fall and Fusion.

The card I have for you today was inspired by this great photo over at Fusion.  I started off wanting to use the sketch as well, and then my creativity got lost somewhere in the middle and I kinda messed it up. Thank goodness for this challenge you can chose one side or the other or both!   I just got these great leaves from SU (Seasonal Layer Thinlits) and I am in LOVE!  Let me just warn you now, that I already have five other card ideas muling around in my brain, so I guarantee you will be seeing lots of Fall cards over the next month or so.  I just need Fall weather to match my card direction! A girl can dream, can’t she?

I started off just watercoloring some watercolor paper, with no rhyme or reason, in various pastel colors (I tried to focus on the colors of the cookies). Then cut them out once the paper was relatively dry.  next, I cut the top of the leaves (the veins) with watercolored paper as well. The sentiment is from the same SU set-Colorful Seasons.  The branches are part of the SU-Thinlit set I mentioned above, and the other two dies are from MFT.  I finished the leaves off with Wink of Stella, but you can’t tell in the photo.

Thanks so much for having a look.  Have a wonderful creative day! Nanc’

Color Week at JUGS!

Hello,  It’s time again for Color Week at Just Us Girls.  Lisa is our hostess and she has chosen a great color combo to inspire us!  I decided to do the watercoloring smooshing technique once again, as it always produces great results. My flowers are quite different in tones, but I like them just the same.  You can’t go wrong when you use the Altenew Beautiful Day Stamp Set. The sentiment and outer circle are from SU.

Please come by and check out the teams and our guest Linda’s amazing cards.  Take care, Nanc’

Cozy Challenge!

Nearly a month ago I had the pleasure of meeting up with two card makers and blogging friends for a quick getaway to MFT.  While we were at our hotel in Mount Dora, I went down to the lobby to retrieve some coffee for us. When I returned, Michele Ferguson from (I Card Everyone) noticed that each cozy around the coffee cup was different.  She challenged us to make a card with our cozy.  I traded with Bobby from (Bits and Pieces) and boy was mine a challenge.  When I nearly tossed in the towel, and I am late for the deadline I might add, I decided to in list the help of Pinterest. YEAH!!! This is NOT my original design! I did draw everything free hand and ran my basketball through my EF to make the BB have dimples. The sentiment is from Verve!  The other ladies did a much better job then I did.  I have linked them up for you above. Here is a picture of my cozy, before I cut it.

Here is a picture from our time together. I just love meeting fellow crafters that I talk to on-line.  There is never a lull in conversation, that is for sure.  Michele and Bobby are just as sweet and thoughtful as I imagined they would be, and I can’t thank them enough for coming so far (Michigan) to meet up with me. Who knows who I will be meeting next! I have quite a few people on my bucket list! It may be you!!  Nanc’

Harvest/ Autumn Blessings…

Hello, Although we don’t quite have Autumn here in Florida and the temps are still in the 90’s, it didn’t stop me from making a couple of Autumn theme cards over the weekend. One is made of the colors you would traditionally expect, and the other one …not so much.  I love how they both turned out!

I am linking up these cards to two different challenges.  The first one is The Twofer Card Challenge which I am totally thrilled not to miss out on this month, and the other one is The Color Throwdown, which I have been following since its inception.

The stamps I used for these cards are from Verve, with an exception of the larger leaf on the autumn colored card, who knows where that one came from, but it’s a keeper.   On both cards, I heat embossed the leaves with either white, silver, gold or red. On the fall colored card, I used my oxide inks to blend the background.  The leaf punch is from SU and dry embossed, and the tag and wonky rectangles are from MFT.  I splattered some white paint to help hide some of my stray embossing powder on the black card. Finally, I got to use my new Rectangles with the rounded corners from MFT.  I just love those patterned leaves from Verve, and I knew they would make a fun fall card.  The black card is so very shimmery in real life!  If you have any other questions…let me know!

Smile and Sparkle!

Hello,  I wanted to play along over at The Flower Challenge as soon as I saw the challenge was to add sparkle. I finally had the time yesterday to do some crafting and this is what I came up with.  This is a CASE of one of my own cards from a few months ago.  I am kinda obsessed with these cards currently! Not sure you can tell in the terrible photo, but the leaves are silver heat embossed as well. The flowers and leaves are from Stampin Up,  along with that fun DP that I inked up with my Oxide Inks. Tim Holtz just came out with a new batch of Oxide Ink colors, have you seen them?  I am trying to refrain from buying them all, but it’s sooooo hard! The smile die and the heart is from MFT.

Thanks for stopping by to have a look, Nanc’

Celestial is the Trend

Hello,  Hope you are having a great day!  If you were in the path of Hurricane Michael, I hope you are safe and with minimal damage. Mother nature isn’t being kind lately and I hope it stops very soon.  It breaks my heart to see the devastation it left behind. Feeling very blessed as I write this post.  Other than some rain and gusty winds, all was well here on the west coast of Florida. I am sending this card to my son ( whom I adore and miss, more than you can even imagine) and I can’t say exactly why I am sending this card, but I hope he doesn’t happen to check my blog before he receives it. You will have to trust me that it looks even better in person.  I had so much fun creating my celestial background with my oxide inks, starting with a piece of white card stock. It was a ton of blending!! The letter dies are from MFT and the “so proud of” is from SU.  That wooden moon stamp is something I have had for eons and is white heat embossed. The stars were heat embossed too and made with a SU stencil as well. Some splatters, and I was done.

Please come on over to Just Us Girls and check out my fabulous teams designs! Nanc’
